Retailer Zavvi has had to cancel all videogame, film and music orders as supplier Entertainment UK falls into administration.
Better make some other plans :/

That is the company linked to woolies - if I remember correctly it supplies some of the supermarkets too

Didn't Zavvi used to be Virgin! Megastores?

Correct :)

And correct :) The article says it's unlikely to affect the high street stores too much, though supplies of new titles might struggle to get there.

All correct. There's been lots of record labels scrabbling around to find alternative means of distribution since they went under. Doubtless the major games labels will do the same, but the minor players on both sides are going to struggle.

Ironically EUK were profitable, had a good business model and a 30% market share, but they were dragged under by the Woolies Goliath.

Virgin Megastores used to be great, loved the range and prices and what not. It seemed to me when Zavvi took over that whenever stock shifted they just weren't replacing it with similar stuff, but focusing on the more popular mainstream stuff irrespective of it actually selling. Their deals didn't seem to be much cop either.
