Was having a chat at lunch time about who was doing what on Xmas day. In the main it was the usual Turkey & Tinsle. Some were having a Curry delivered and some other guy was having Bhajee's for starters, T Bone Steak and Chips with Apple pie and cream to follow.

Personally I love Xmas dinner with all the trimmings and in as much as I love curry I just couldn't imagine Xmas day without all the Turkey and Trimmings, bad jokes out of crackers etc.

So for me it will be an early start with Alexander as I am sure he will be up around 5ish. For breakfast we might have a change from the norm and have a continental breakfast instead of the bacon rolls. Visit the family in the morning drop the pressies off then off the local with the inlaws for an hour before a gratuitous ammount of fine food, wine and port

We'll be up when we can be arsed to get up ;D then it's off to the kitchen for me to cook Christmas dinner. Kitten's Mum and Nan will come round for food then it's collapse in front of the TV.

I really honestly don't know, the plan was to go with the inlaws down to my parents and spend a few days sitting around an open fire with new books and Christmas music on softly in a state of advanced drunkeness. However the wife's sister preceeded to get up the duff and bugger up the plan so now I'm not sure, we could still go down there but that means not seeing the nephew (the sister in law and kid were coming to M&Ds too) and Aitch is in two minds. Parents are still happy to have us, I'm sure the inlaws would be too. So its all a bit up in the air. I'm easy as long as I can get drunk and eat turkey, home means 360 and projector, away means not having to cook and nicer suroundings.

Unsure to be honest. Either will be at home with our Dog and have a Christmas day together, then off to my folks boxing day and the following to Pickys folks.

Or

We'll be at my folks Christmas day and then to Pickys folks Boxing day.

Turkey will be had for sure!!! I hope there's some pigs in blankets somewhere too - I will be sure to make them if not!

Lots of vino, plenty of silly games and lots of snacking on all sorts of fud :)

MtE and the girls are off to his Aunts for a big family Xmas day. I could either sit at home and feel sorry for myself like last year or go too. I'm going too.

Boxing Day will be at mine and then the preps for NYE will begin! :D

The plan is presently to head round to my Aunt's for a big family get together, that's the usual for Christmas and it's always great to see the rest of the family. It'll probably be a bit odd this year though given it is the first one we'll have had there since my Uncle died. It'll be a pretty traditional meal I'd expect and the best rum ring ever for pudding.

Will be at my folks for the first time in about 5 years. Probably get up around 9, drink tea and eat bacon rolls then veg out a bit. Open some pressies, start on food - usual procedure is to have 5 or 6 courses with an hour in between, so, pretty much eating all day. I was asked to pick the main course - most of my family don't really care too much for tukey so it is usually something nice but not turkey. I chose beef Wellington for this year - haven't had it in aaages. Only problem is, I have a sneaky suspicion I'll be expected to purchase it and cook it :(

Wine will be had with the meal, followed by a nice drop of port and then the rest of the day will be spent sampling various fine malts :D

Anybody have a good recipe for beef Wellington?

Wake up whenever, for breakfast it will be a glass or 2 of champagne with scrambled egg and salmon and brown bread. Just champagne and scrambled egg for me. Open presents and chill for most of the day, then full Christmas dinner at about 5ish. There is the possibility that I may be popping round a mates at night for a drunken night of karaoke for a laugh.

This year, I will be doing exactly the same as last year. Here's my plan....(so far)...

Christmas eve:Morning, possibly spanning most of the day, run round like a woman on fire trying to get the final bits and pieces we need. Sort out the mini buffet tea for us and the kids. Once kids are in bed, out comes the sherry, wrapping paper, sticky tape and anything else needed. Wrap presents like mad and then pass out in bed.
Oh, I also need to get the veg peeled.

Christmas day: Cup of tea and then let the kids loose on the presents. Around 11ish I'll get the oven on and make a start on lunch. Spend as much time as possible playing with the kids and trying to keep them under control. Eat lunch, start on the pots-bah!!
Once the kids are in bed, it's boardgame time.

Boxing day: Anything that doesn't have to be done will not get done. So I will be doing as little as possible.

I'm hoping that I've just finished a shift & got double time for it, Then it'll be back to spend time with Frank & maybe an hour or twos sleep in my easy chair. S'pose I'll spam for a bit & then go down my big sisters for the family get together crimbo dinner. I'll come back here after a couple of hours & take Frank out for a Long walk & then I'll cuddle up with him & crash for a few hours before I chill.

Just thought I bet the last night shift will be the night before xmas eve so I dunno now :(
Sorry to be boring but all I want to do now is work, Maybe they'll let me go in & polish the floors when the place is closed ;D

I'll have to set my alarm to get up in the morning. I'll probably then get the honour of picking up my sister and heading to the parents. The time will depend on the compromise my sister (who will want a lie in) and my Dad (who will be waiting from the break of dawn) will come to.

Once there it will be the usual combination of alcohol and chocolate for breakfast :o Then I hand out all the pressies, Dad will run in an out of the room checking stuff in the kitchen, my sister will be opening / going through everything she gets while throwing paper around and Mum will be trying to pick it all up.

We'll then watch TV for an hour or so while the parents cook and Dad complains about the crap TV we watch. We'll have a big dinner although not sure what it is yet - pork at last guess but that can change right up to the last minute. Then we'll all veg out, drink more, eat more, watch TV etc.

Have a pretty ace Xmas lined up :)

Parents, brother and sister are flying out to California and heading up to Santa Barbara on 21st Dec (where they will meet the missus for 1st time ). I join them on the 24th Dec.

Xmas day will (hopefully) be spent surfing in the morning, then have a table booked at a restaurant on the pier in SB for a mid-afternoon lunch, followed by dessert and drinks at Christina's parents house (where the respective parents will meet for 1st time  ).

Looking forward to it :)

I don't really want to think about the not fun I'll be having. Said similar thing last year so it won't be a surprise to many.

Xmas day is cracking round the parents with a really good meal. Dad will play cd's on his decreprid cd player. The thing goes in and out of losing the bass in songs. He won't replace it though (partly becuase it drives mum nuts) :)

20th going around town, should be going on the 19th aka mad friday but some lads cant get time off, also have a party I can go to on the 20th

24th stay in or maybe go to the pub but I always end up drunk

25th get up open presents, make a big fuss with the niece then chill out help the family get the food ready for dinner, normally have a roast beef joint and the "works" then selection of puds, this year we are thinking of inviting neighbors and friends around for an xmas night drink always a laugh and great fun.

26th might go around town for the HUGE fancy dress night, nearly 20,000 people are out in fancy dress put after last year and being asked to pay £20+ just to get, might give it a miss

Down the Lion and Lamb, or Saracen's Head, or somesuch for christmas dinner (mum hates cooking it, or cooks it and is so fed up she doesn't enjoy it, so we go out even if it costs a fortune), then off to family (avec hordes of screaming children) for tea.

I break up on 19th December as I had some excess holiday to take. Woohoo! I'm just looking forward to being OFF work for 2 weeks really :D

Christmas Eve I'll be cooking a meal for my Parents, Grandparents, Brother and his GF. I've never cooked for 8 before and still haven't decided what to do for starter and pud. Eek!

Christmas Day, we'll get up and saunter over to my Parents' for pressie opening and Christmas Dinner. Grandparents will also be there, but my bro is spending Christmas with his GF and her family. We'll come home around 6ish and settle on the sofa to watch Christmas crap with the duvet, the cat, a selection of cheeses/crackers and a bottle of wine.

Boxing Day, we're doing some hardcore relaxing. We usually go to Leon's Mum's, but we've decided we're not going this year and are just going to have a relaxing few days at home before PARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY at New Year :).

Well this year is certainly going to be an unusual Christmas...

Every year for the past 48 Festive periods, my parents, brother, grandparents, godparents and a few others have enjoyed Christmas Day at my Grandparents home - travelling nation-wide to reach our Somerset focal point.

This house was purchased new in 1960 and has been the hub of family festivities every year since, but this Christmas will be the last in our good old North Somerset abode.

The death of my grandparents, the divorce of my parents and the general "flying the nest" activities will close the door on this wondeful family home's string of Xmas memories- opening it's gates to a new family this coming January.

My Mother, Auntie, Uncle and Dogs are moving to a new family home in Cornwall, my brother emmigrated to New Zealand, and following the completion of (most of) our academics- my girlfriend and I are moving into a nice new(ish) flat at the end of the year.

So we're celebrating all the years we've enjoyed here, spanning both mine, my brother, my mother and uncle's upbringings and all starting the next page in our life stories with the new year!

Huge amounts of Turkey, Cranberry, Stuffing, Pig'n'Blanket, Cheese'n'Blanket, Stilton, Port, Hams, Wines, Crackers, Decorations, Carol Singing, Presents, Crying at the charity programme on Christmas day, THE SNOWMAN!, Turkey Widges (the classic family 'leftover widge' consisting of turkey, ham, stuffing, cranberry and if you wish to use a knife and fork- gravy), nightmare before christmas, stockings, rudolph, calendars, special sweets you only have at Christmas (in our house - Clarnico mints), and really rejoicing, laughing, sharing and recalling the memories of all these years spending Christmas together, as a truly happy family.

(Sorry for the essay- but thank you for reading!)

I'm working Christmas eve and boxing day. Also the 23rd which this year is my sisters 23rd birthday. We'll do our usual thing, stay up on Christmas eve open our presents then go to bed (invented to stop me waking my little sister up at 5am to open all the presents thus waking everyone else in the house up). The we get up at about lunchtime, watch films etc play with presents and mum makes us mighty meal.
Although this year there are musings about going to my sisters for food, we'll see.

Like Kate I also finish on the 19th, as does Lynnie, so we're mainly looking forward to the 2 weeks off work together.

20-24th - Will certainly involve some or all of the following - tidying house, drinking alcohol, playing Scene It/Rock Band/Lips/board games, watching films on TV. General relaxing really.
Xmas Day - Travelling the huge distance to Lynnie's mums house (next door for those that don't know) to spend most of the day with Lynnie's mum and her Grandad. Open presents, eat food, relax and watch TV. No doubt we'll be popping back every now and then to make sure the cats are fine and don't need anything.
Boxing Day - We're having various family members around as Lynnie is doing a big buffet type thing for everyone. Will really be the first time our two families have been together except at parties, so should be fun. Might break the Wii out so the old people can embarrass themselves playing Wii Bowling or something like that :D
27th - 30th - More relaxing, TV, films, Xbox. Will no doubt spend time with various friends throughout this point.
31st - Go to the wedding (yes, on New Years Eve) of a friend from Lynnie's work. Wedding is early evening and then straight on to the reception which goes through till the next day. We're both unsure about whether we want to stay there past midnight or whether we want to be back home for it. Just in case, I feel a headache coming on already ;)
1st - 4th - More relaxing and fun.
5th - We both go back to work crying.

All in all, good times will be had, and no work will be done. That's enough for me :D

Up early Christmas Day, swap card/pressie with flatmate.

Spirited drive over to the rents. My favourite drive of the year, hardly any traffic, down through the nice B roads :D

Proceed to arrive at rents, eat too much, drink too much etc. Open presents, watch DFS adverts on a seemingly endless repeat.

Crash in spare room.

The plan is to wake up Christmas day with my SO and then drive back home to have Christmas dinner with Dad, going to my brothers in the evening for trifle and cake. As per, Im driving so there won't be much in the way of libation for me this year.

More than likely though, I will still be worrying about not having any money having recently been made unemployed and feel miserable about not being able to afford to drive to see Lynne :(

I am hoping that my baby is walking by xmas as she will be almost 15months. she is fantastic at talking and can say about 40words but she isn't walking yet infact she doesn't even stand without holding on little madam lol.
Its gonna be really nice this year as our kids have their cousin to play with and so it'll be really sweet.
I can't wait its gonna be really good, playing with kids and their toys and then when kids are asleep probably play board games or something and have a laugh and get drunk :D
Couldn't drink last year due to breastfeeding, couldn't drink year before because of breastfeeding and then I couldn't drink the year before that because of being pregnant so this year I have a lot of xmas drinking to catch up on :D lol
