Where would it be and whyyy?
For me it would either be Australia (Perth) as I have some lovely family out there, and also because Australia is known for being so much more laid back. (And Christmas on the beach!!! ;D)
Or
someplace in America where there are big houses and you can have loads of land :D

Canada or the United States for me. Anywhere is better than here though.
Vancouver in Canada or San Francisco Bay area in the US, or for that matter most places on the West Coast between the two above would be OK providing they weren't too heavily reliant on having a car.
Failing that, it'd have to be Oz. Sydney was great but possibly a bit too hot for me in the summer. Haven't been to Melbourne or Perth, but they'd be possibilities.
Even somewhere like Jersey or Guernsey would do for me.

Some big city just about anywhere really, but generally english speaking. So Canada, loads of places around the US, Aus. Prefferably somewhere near a beach would be pretty freaking cool. But tbh i'm quite happy anywhere really as long as its fairly densely populating with a fair amount to do around there...
Manhattan. Went there earlier this year for a couple of days and fell in love with the place.
Manhattan is a brilliant place to go as a tourist, but I wouldn't want to live there. Aside from giving the impression that property is hideously expensive (unless you head for Upper Manhattan, which is cheaper but also rather less friendly), it's far too hot in high summer, and far too crowded. I guess at least you have the subway system - just as well as driving a car there looks like it would be a bloody nightmare.
Living in one of the other boroughs would seem like a more sensible approach if you wanted to live in the area. :)

Houston, TX
Basketball, NASCAR, hot weather, plenty of space/large houses.
Downside being crap cars/health care....

... not to mention the odd hurricane rolling through for good measure. :)
I hope to visit Houston someday, though not to live. :)
oz or NZ, for previously mentioned reasons.
that and i don't really have a huge amount to tie me here, a new start would be fun.
I quite like it here...
*must be sad*
Don't get me wrong - I would relish the opportunity to live abroad for a year or two in various countries but this is my home... If I moved elsewhere it would only be to explore other peoples culture/help out where I can for a minimum amount of time. I would end up back here :)
Seattle, Washington. I spent a couple of weeks there back in 2006 and fell in love with the place. I wasn't quite so keen on the near vertical hill that I had to walk up to get back from downtown to Capitol Hill but I still love the place.

I don't think so, I'm the same.
I have lived in different countries and been on holiday to lots of lovely places and had a great time. It's interesting and fun experiencing new places and ways of life. I loved living in Germany and still miss it, however, nowhere feels like 'home' except the Highlands. I'm like Pheebs, I could happily live in other places, but I think I would always want to end up back here. That said who knows what life may bring :)

If you do visit Houston, make sure you also visit Austin and Dallas.
Both are fantastic places to be.

I don't want to live anywhere but here but to go with the flow of the thread, I would say Canada as my favourite X was/is Canadian & her & Canadian friends were the Mellowest people I've ever met.
Being the sensitive soul that I am :o + ;D the people around me have a great effect on me. Mellow people bring the best out in me

I think you're a social chameleon, in that your emotional state changes to match that of those in your social circle.

Otherwise, it would be next door to Pheebs :D
Personally, I think that's a really nice thing to say :D

I hit submit then wondered if you'd think I meant it as a criticism/insult, when in fact it was neither. I think MANY people do the same and adapt to the company they keep at a given time, but some to a greater degre than others.
I know you've had a colourful past, but would you say you considered yourself to be easily led?

No I'm not easily led quite the opposite in fact, It's just that when people are mellow around me then I am uber mellow back. Equally I pick up on bad vibes early & go the other way in a flash.

Empathic.
A good path to take IMHO.
I quite like Oz, but it's a bit remote... it would have to be a very good reason for me to go there.
Anywhere in and around the Med would make me happy, in particular Cyprus or S.France for an easy "comfort" option.
I could live in Manhattan or San Fran too quite easily, though I'd probably choose San Fran over NY.
I don't see myself staying here for the rest of my life.

I came pretty close to upping sticks for New Zealand after coming back from travelling there for three months, but I think the only place I wanted to be more was back in Bristol. So I stayed.
Oxford's ok, but they have a funny accent here. :(

I'd like to live in Canada, Vancouver to be exact, although it is a big city it still feels 'nice' and isn't terrible to navigate around although a car is certainly handy. I'm not sure I'd live there permanantly as at some point I'd want to come back to home in Scotland but I can easily see myself spending a decade or two there.
I think I'd quite like New Zealand if I went but it would probably have to be one of the bigger cities, for some reason I'm always more drawn to cities with universities in them, there is something about them that suits me better (and I'm not even thinking about student girls particularly).
I've only spent a day in Vancouver but really liked the place. The only place in Canada I've spend a reasonable amount of time is Toronto which I didn't much like at first but it soon grew on me.
A friend of mine emigrated to Ontario in June so when I go see him and his missus I'll explore a bit more of the Toronto area.

Miami and live on a house boat.
I did also love North Carolina when I was over there. Everyone is so laid back, which suits me perfectly. That and they have Cracker Barrel, which is where I first tried grits and loved them.

Thinking about it, it would probably be San Francisco for me. I just love the place.

Been there four times now with work. Thanks to various redundancies and re-orgs it's highly unlikely I'll go back via work, so it's fairly unlikely I'll go back period, which is a shame. I'm a great fan of the Tar Heel state and even more so of the local delicacies (;)), but it's somewhere where it seems like a car would have to be pretty much a given, which wouldn't work for me for obvious reasons. As I may have also made clear before I'm not a fan of summer heat, and they certainly get that. :(

You're in a minority then. Most Americans I know don't like grits. Just the name was enough to put me off, but I'm not a fan of porridge either and they're at least distant cousins.

The name used to put me off, so I asked to try some and got a small bowl for free. Grits plus sugar is awesome.
San Fran to be near my Aunt and because I know the place quite well now and know the best local places to go behind all the touristy bits (which are fab too).
Otherwise, it would be next door to Pheebs :D

There's a house for sale about 4 doors down :D
Well best laid plans and all that often go awry(is that the right way to spell it ??) Anywho for me and the family it is and will be Florida. From the very first visit I fell in love with the place. Not for the tourist stuff but just for the people and the atmosphere. People are genuinely nice, welcoming and friendly and the sense of community, co-operation and family are very apparent when you get off the beaten track. Lots and lots of opportunities if your prepared to work for them but the pay offs in terms of quality of life are a lot more. It's hard to put into words how you can just click with a certain place and think you wan't to spend the rest of your life there.
Quite often you loose the sense of wow and buzz a few months of being home from holidays but it's never the case when we come home from there.
The plan is once Baby Loki #2 is born in May 2009, we will be here for another year maybe two then we will check the finances, sell up here, lock stock and barrel and start our own business off out there.
We came so close a few years ago but we were scammed out of a fair bit of money by a visa specialist. On the day we were being interviewed at the US embassy, our so called Visa Specialist went out of business taking us for our savings and a load of bad information which meant our visa application was turned down.
I quite like it here...

Snap!
Wouldn't complain about living in Southern California, the weather for a start is absolutely fantastic all year round, so much outdoor activity going on, the whole lifestyle is incredibly attractive to me plus California generally has an awful lot of, well pretty much everything, not to mention the missus lives out there...:p

Erm, I might have to take this back. No travel plans but I certainly didn't see what's happened this morning coming. Scary because it could either be of huge benefit or eventually (3-6 months possibly) make my job redundant. Time will tell.
Can't decide, either america or canada.
Canada I would love the canoeing and hunting in the wilderness.
Amerrica I would love the quad and dirt biking in the sandy hilly dunes.
In both I like the space to have proper size building plots. That I can grow my own veg and build my own house and workshops with out overly stupid planing laws like we have in the uk.
The things I want from life don't seem to be available in the uk. which is annoying. Mainly because this country is so small and with an over protective goverment.
Don't move to any cities then, Acid. They're worse than anything you've got over there. Ever hear of Home Owner's Associations? Yeah, those idiots.
Out in the country like where I lived in Minnesota? Yeah, no problem. But then you have the slight issue of being able to afford to live. When out of the three highest paying places to work in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and the best one to work at was Walmart, it tells you something about the standard of living out there.
But the ability to go four wheeling in my back yard, shoot a Lee Enfield .303 in my yard, and have a romp with the wife outdoors (all without disturbance from neighbors) made up for a lot of the lack of standard of living. But not all of it.
As for where I'd want to live? I'm still trying to convince Tina that Vancouver really isn't all that bad. The one time she saw it was in the middle of winter, 6 months' pregnant, and a big storm blew in across Boundary Bay and the spray from the ocean washing across Hwy 99 terrified the hell out of her.
Ever since that incident she hasn't been too thrilled with the idea of Canada.
Devon would do me, or Wales. Anywhere where grass grows in the middle of the road is perfect :)
Abroad, Canada please, or Montana. I know the bare minimum about both and my choices are based on the romantic notions rather than research :)

sounds great, no way If I had a chance to live in either of those places would it be in a city or a town. Some small village 5 hours drive for civilisation. All they need is a shop and a pub not to far away..
Somewhere I could grow my own food, hunt/grow my own meat. go for motorbike rides in dessert/mountains or canoe in canadas outback. Cut trees down for firewood. Or have wind/solar power..
Oh and own and use a spg-1 sniper rifle. Possibly for extreme hunting.
:( I want a new laid back life.

Simple - Baveria or Italy
In fact Baveria may one day be a possibility.
Well, there goes the worry of Germany ever becoming a world power again. Look out, here comes Huddy!! ;)

Oz or somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the US where you get hot summers and cold winters. Iowa or Illinois.
