View Full Version : Why are gherkins called wallys?
Until now, I didn't think they were?!
Used to hate the gherkin scratch and sniff stickers - there were loads of them and you could never get rid of them!!!

Never heard of it. Though it puts a whole new slant on 'Where's Wally?'.

Quite :D
Never heard of it being called that either.
Hmm, I wonder if it's a more old London thing as both my parents call them wallys and so does Mrs. Feek's mum.

Don't think so, at least not North London :p My Mum's never heard of it and never heard my Dad ever mention it.
Well my lot are north/east and Mrs. Feek's are north as well. My mum's been calling them wallys for as long as I can remember.
Aye, know them as Wallys here too.
Asked my parents. They'd heard of it too, but only fairly recently, so they couldn't help with the origin.
