Hello, my normal spaces seem to be vacant...

Ah there you are, outside Burnham Autos (http://www.burnhamautos.com)

I decided I'm not getting the time to finish this project myself so I've entrusted Burnham Autos to get it finished for me. There's a few bits I'm not happy with that I did a long time ago and I simply can't face doing the job again, especially now I'm five years older than when I originally did it. It's going to cost me a bit but this way I'll have it finished and MOT'd in a few weeks time. Can't wait, I've waited a long time and put a lot of my life into it :)

Is the car behind very big, or is that a midget car? :p ;D

I had it running today. You'll need Quicktime to play these shamelessly poor videos I took inside the car. Right click and save...

Battery is a bit knacked (http://www.jonny69.co.uk/uploads/anglia/2008-12-29_video/29-12-08_1528.3gp)

But she runs nice and strong (http://www.jonny69.co.uk/uploads/anglia/2008-12-29_video/29-12-08_1533.3gp)

I'll get some better videos tomorrow and give it some proper beans ;)

I may be completely off base here, but the vehicle behind looks a lot like a Dodge Grand Caravan, a 7 passenger mini-van that's got a 3.8L V-6 FWD in it. In which case, both your statements are true. The vehicle behind is absolutely enormous in comparison to even a 5 series BMW, while the Anglia makes a Smart look normal sized. ;D

[EDIT] Looking closer there is no way it could be a Dodge. Wheels are wrong, headrests are wrong, gullwing wipers are wrong and the bonnet is too long. So my entire post is irrelevant except for me to say to Johnny that I really wish I could be there for the first (legal) run.

Ok, MOT day was supposed to be Friday but it was too low to get on the ramps so it's early next week now and they're getting some scaff boards in to raise it up a bit... I took it out for a sneaky drive up the lanes and oh my god it's so awesome

I *hope* it looks that good, I painted it out the front. Needs a flat and polish and a few dings touching up. Wheels need painting and the 69's need to go back on.

Awesome :D Its meant to be a nice clear day tomorrow. Are you planning on keeping it under cover as a weekend good weather motor? So now you have it, is it going to be trackdays or just a run around?

Well it's going to be living in the garage but it's not a fair weather driver. It's a street racer, track day slag and a runaround. Expect it to be abused and don't be surprised if I bang it up a bit at some point ;)

Yup, it's filthy already ;D

Got to screw some of the external shiny bits on yet but I've been too busy driving. Engine hasn't missed a beat yet, despite being a bit tired. It goes like utter stink and I reckon I've nearly mastered the starting procedure. Should be easier once I've fiddled with the jets and timing :)

starting procedure

Fond memories of my Sierra!

We performed a 1.6 -> 2.1 engine swap with accompanying 32/36 DGAS.
This was my first real mechanical work on a car, and I remember the conversation with my mechanical Mr Miyagi at the time:

Me: So where's the choke?

Miyagi-San: Choke?

Me: Yeah so I can start it on cold mornings

Miyagi-San: No choke. You don't need an effing choke. Chokes are for effing gays.

Me: But how will I start it?

Miyagi-San: You will have to use the Starting Procedure......

I think on mine it was: Turn over engine approx 5 cycles, pump throttle twice, turn two more cycles, leave for 5 seconds, turn over engine again and floor throttle. Never failed.

It was a sod to get started over christmas. Untimed ignition, twin DCOEs and freezing cold weather with a half flat battery to boot, bad combination.

I don't use the choke on the DCOEs, two full pumps of the throttle, sit there for 20-30 seconds while the fuel in the barrels evaporates, turn it over and catch it on the throttle as it fires. The colder it is the more times you have to do this :D

You got any more work planned on the flipfront mounting? Doesn't look very straight on there atm.

Jonny69
25-01-2009, 19:48
I might move the Dzus clip points around a bit on the pillars but that's it. I've tried to make a feature of the flipfront being functional rather than try and hide it so I'm not too bothered.
