View Full Version : My back hurts. A lot.
Yesterday I had a mad dash at twenty past seven to get up and get dressed and get Mrs. Feek to work for half past seven. I got home and collapsed back into bed to wake up an hour later with a sore back. Not much, just a twinge behind my left shoulder.
It got a bit worse during the day but today it's really deteriorated. My whole upper back is really hurting, I can barely turn my head because it's gone into my neck so my head is sitting at a Stephen Hawking type angle as that's how it's most comfortable. I probably just laid awkwardly in bed but it's knackered me totally.
So I'm suffering. I need sympathy.
I have beer, and I have cheese so I'm all stocked up on two of the three important things in life :)

Chiropractor if it doesn't get better :)
Hmm I had this from the 23-27th December and it appeared out of no-where. It was a sharp pain in my back, and made itself apparent when I breathed in, or coughed mostly. Upon waking up in the morning my back would be stinging for a few hours. As a result I couldn't even work out much during the start of my Xmas hols (bad excuse I know :p)
It just vanished after much resting ala sitting in front of the PC on irc :D
A very hot tub with a box of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) dissolved in it will help relax the muscles. At least it does for me...

Deep Heat.
If you suck air in through your teeth when it first goes on you aren't a real man ;)

^^and/or osteopath :) *gentle hugs*
^^ and/or acupuncturist.
I've done that on two occasions and it's absolute agony (the pulling of that muscle, not the acupuncturist). I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Both times was also when I was in bed, one waking up with it, the other getting out of bed.
Lose weight, 2/3 of your body weight above your waist, first thing I am doing is losing weight aka fat, I am over weight and I always feel it in my back, I am stocky but the upper body really does make a difference.
When I pick my niece up I have to arch my back and she is 2+ stone and I feel the pinch in the discs.

Sounds like Siatika (sp?) I get it quite often, The trick is to Not sit down or stop moving, I know this seems ridiculous but Trust me it's the Best option.

I know of a club in Soho that might help with back pain relief Feek.
Might not be best to mention it to Mrs Feek though.

Sciatica is the lower back, that's what I currently suffer from according to the doctor.
Chiropractor if it doesn't get better :)

If it doesn't improve then I'll be off to the docs first and see what he says. I really think this is muscular because it's so similar to what I did a few weeks ago when I strained my lower back. Not had a great time with it recently.

I did a quantity of beer instead. Well, I drank it rather than get in a tub full of it :D

I'm a real man. Mrs. Feek sprayed it on and I kept my teeth gritted.
Lose weight,
I'm working on this.

Bend your knees, don't arch your back. Yes, I've done the manual handling course!
Old age TBH :p
Spoken like a real wrinklie. It's true though.

That's what I'm hoping, I expect it'll twinge a bit for a few days more than that but by then I'll be fully mobile again.
*pokes*
*runs*I'd run after you if I could and poke you back ;)
I know of a club in Soho that might help with back pain relief Feek.Details man, details!
*sympathy*
Thanks :D
Hope you're feeling a bit less twingey :)
Homedics Shiatsu back massage - you can try them out in John Lewis I think.
Did the alcohol help? :D
My back problems all went away when I returned to a job which involved physical work and lifting things. Sitting at a desk getting weak is to blame.
^^and/or osteopath :) *gentle hugs*
And/or decent painkillers.
I have problems with my back and sometimes have to take diclophenac (not sure how it's spelt). And wear a back support.
Gentle hugs, hope you are feeling better soon.

i get a very sharp pain between my shoulder blades from time to time, like a trapped nerve, and it's excruciating - really stops my range of movement. I get the girlfriend to hold onto something and walk slowly up my back as i lay flat on a hard floor and you can feel it sort of "pop" back into place, it then feels sort of dulled and 1/2 an hr later it's gone :)
just make sure you have some trust in your girlfriend/wife/child/boyfriend/big dog and talk them through slowly shifting their weight up you. Also make sure they aren't enormously heavy :) The gf's probably less than 10st, but i'd risk up to a 12stoner :)

How's your posture Feek? Do you sit up straight with your shoulders back when at a desk etc?
