Trying to log in this morning and it gets to "retrieving address book" and then gets an error. Only reason I'm asking is that I had problems on Friday as well at work but it's been fine at home over the weekend.

Must just be me then :(

It's just going around in circles. I just tried adding the account again and still no joy.

Got any details?

Desmo

Thing is, from what I can see it's connecting fine. It's just not downloading the address book and so restarts.

Big update to live this weekend for Messenger, Live Space and Live Email so that might be contributing to the problem

I'm guessing the weekend updates have broken Adium. Mine does the same as yours, Desmo.

Installed Messenger now and it seems to be working. No doubt they've changed something to try and screw over the third party clients so I guess I'll have to wait until they're updated.

Apparently it's a 'temporary server problem' according to the this bug entry (http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/11568).

Apparently Pidgin has the same problem too so I'll probably have the same problem at home now.

I was just about to say that - yeah, Pidgin is buggered too.

Seems it's down to the specific library (LibPurple) that Adium uses - link (in French) (http://www.wikikou.fr/adium-connexion-msn-pidgin-connexion-windows-live-actualite-1176.html).

A quick translation of the link:

Since the evening on Sunday January 11th users of LibPurple used in particular by Adium and Pidgin cannot connect to Windows Live Messenger.

The problem was confirmed on the Adium blog (http://adiumx.com/blog/2009/01/msn-rejecting-adium-132-connections/). The transport does not connect and relates only to version 15 of the protocol, ie, Adium 1.3.2. MAC users will have to downgrade to Adium 1.3.1 in order to continue using Adium.

Emesene (http://emesene.org/) seems to be ok Des. No Mac version but at least you can get on with your lappy at home.

Cheers, will take a look at it tonight :)

Hopefully it won't take long for Adium and Pidgin to be updated. I'll stick with Messenger for a couple of days and then downgrade if I have to.

Really?
Bugger!

Yep :(

I've only tried the OS X version though so don't know if other platforms have the same problem.

I just tried it and it's actually working, though it's throwing certificate errors on sign in (host = nexus.passport.com, untrusted CA).
