Just had more than ring me up about giving me a quote. Fair enough. Supplied all the details and it came to £390 (best was £350 elsewhere). At this point I remembered about needing Business use class 1. This couldn't be put on the policy for some reason.

"I can't beat that but how about I put I put your mum as the main driver?"
"Erm, I do 15k /year that would be insurance fronting"
"Yes but I can put her first and you wouldn't get any NCB, but it would be cheaper"
" ...... are you seriously saying that you want me to commit insurance fronting which is illegal??"
"Oh.... are you the main driver?"
"Yes, hence why I brought the car, have it in my name, and do 15k /year in business miles"
"Yes, but"
"No thank you" *click*

Times must be hard when the bloody insurance companies are suggesting insurance fronting. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they play that tape back, rather stunned at the moment actually. Especially after when I said that it was illegal and insurance fronting, she still was going to try with my mum first.

Unbelievable! Wonder how quickly she'd have hung up if you'd have asked to speak to a supervisor? :D ...or how quickly the recording would have disappeared if you had a claim and told them the situation...

tbh that needs chasing up. I doubt they routinely listen to many of the tapes so a letter/email needs sending somewhere to ensure that something is done. Don't suppose you got her name did you?

As alluded to above, you can bet your ass that conversation wouldn't exist if you ever came to claim on such a policy and they were trying to wriggle.

I rang them up and surprise surprise there is no record of a quote under my name on the system. They also do not apparently record outgoing calls, only incoming :/ Apparently the call could come from any number of places.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is happening a lot these days. With the thread of job losses, I'd imagine the reps are feeling the pressure to perform and will do just about anything to get a sale.
