At the end of the day it has got people talking about it. I haven't seen the advert, so I wouldn't of thought of Cadbury's... until I saw this thread with people talking about it...

Well done Cadburys advertising team :)

I have it on good authority that the kids were plied with Sunny D to obtain facial twitching of such epic proportions.

I will give it a month before some kid trying to copy it gets a facial strain or something and sues Cadbury's.

It's great. :D

It does exactly what an advert's supposed to do, get people talking about Cadbury's. Whether you like it or not, next time it's shown, you'll know it's for Cadbury's. You'll tell other people, have you seen that bloody Cadbury's advert? They've effectively transplanted their product and brand name into millions of conversations up and down Britain. Mission accomplished.

24-01-2009, 18:55
No amount of strange adverts could put me off Cadburys I'm afraid :D Although I do prefer proper darrrrrrrrrrrrrk chocolate given the choice.

I think it's mildly amusing, but more because it's so random than anything else. You're right though iCraig, it does exactly what it was intended to.

'it gets you talking about it' I've never understood that. I know they say any publicity is good publicity, but it's not really true. People might be talking but if it's not actually influencing them in any way then surely it's a bit pointless? It's not like it's a little known company that is just trying to get it's name out there by any means.

As it is it makes no odds to me as I don't buy their products. No loss for them if I don't think much of it. Has to be said though that if it was a company I did buy from I would question whether I wanted to buy from them again after this one.

I agree!

Work bud: Did you see the new Cadbury's advert last night?
Me: Yeah seen it before, what a load of ****
Work bud: Aye.
/goes back to nomming on Lindt

I think with chocolate you have to actually do something to the chocolate to improve sales - like with Limited Editions.

Nothing is going to persuade me to buy a normal bar of cadburys... if I wanted it I would have bought it already?!

In that case, Cadburys can do what they want with their advertising budget. As you say, people know about it, they will buy it if they want it. I don't think you can do anything more, so they may as well do stupid things with their ad budget to win prizes etc.

Now I have a big decision to make. Principals or Creme Egg.

I know some of you will be like "But seriously, it makes no difference!" buuuuuuuut advertising campaigns that get people to talk and what not *are* affective at drawing in higher sales!

You may be strong willed people or just plain don't like chocolate, but other people won't be so and will nom it more, knowingly or not! To be honest, saying that you're not swayed is probably a wee bit crazy because, unfortunately, I think all of us are sometimes made curious about a product by an ad and buy it :) I would like to think I have the ability to steer away from this persuasion but I know I don't!

Another way to look at it too is that it makes it a homely product. A known product on the shelf. Like... if you were to buy some... I dunno... bathroom cleaner, you're more likely to go for Mr Muscle than a product you've never seen advertised :)

When I was at Uni all I was interested in was either making adverts or film trailers. I've forgotten all the mumbo jumbo details that I once could reel off on ads, but statistically speaking, when good advertising campaigns were released (good/bad - the ones people seemed to remember), there would be a significant rise in sales on the product :)

If they had no affect at all on whether we will buy a product or not, we wouldn't have these barrage of adverts between our favourite films/proggys on toovd would we ?! :)

So IMO... brilliant ad :)

Adverts do work though I've never denied it. Good adverts though :p I suppose it's all subjective but to me it's a bad advert. I must admit I have been swayed by adverts, but in all honesty it's always been because it's drawn my attention to something that I didn't know about.

Mind you I have stopped buying quite a lot of products due to advertising, so maybe I'm just not normal (yeah you already knew that :p).

I need to sue Mr. Muscle.

I bought some Mr. Muscle, left it on my desk at work when I went for lunch and when I came back, not one single call had been done.
