Well finally got round to playing the DMC demo and really really enjoyed it. Went through it twice as the first time I only worked out how to get the skull with 40 seconds to go ;D

Picked up Tomb Raider Legend for £5 preowned in Game today. Unboxed but not bothered about that, enjoyed the demo enough to part with a fiver :)

Just allow the achievements to wash over you and take over your life, it's the easiest way!

I paid full whack when it was released and have no qualms about doing the same for the next one.

Well had a bit more of a go last night and it's improved but I'm still not convinced. I mean it a very very very pretty game but it just isn't pulling me in. I'm already bored of saving citizens, it's a good bet I'll get exactly the same dialog but with a different skin. I think it is a great concept but wasn't executed well :(

I'm currently trying to finish the other *other* AC, Ace Combat :) Really enjoyed it last night. Its getting crazy busy in my sky. I seem to be constantly dodging about 6 missiles every few minutes. Trying to take down the enemy targets with a squadron chasing you is quite something.

I played some more of Assassin's Creed last night and it was a bit more enjoyable. It does feel a bit like two steps forward, one step back in terms of enjoyment though. Just as I'm thinking it's pretty good, something happens to irritate me again. I'll probably end up keeping it a bit longer though and playing it a segment at a time.

yeah, its annoying that basically every mission is a clone of a previous, with the same stuff happening every time you need to find someone else to kill.

I know you've probably read about it, but they use a new physics engine called Europhia which is used for the characters in the game. It's meant to be much more natural than anything used before, and from that video I'd say they're right :)

I can understand it though - MS are trying to do better in Europe and GTA is huge here. If you're standing in a game shop on release day and you have the PS3 version next to the 360 one, which is the same but with future DLC and the only version with multiplayer, it's a big pull for the 360.

The franchise is big enough to make people switch/commit to platforms thats for sure.

CoD4 wins as a whole package but Bioshock for a predominantly single player person beats it.
Before CoD4 I rarely played much multiplayer as I always concentrate on the single player element. Which is why I'd still say Bioshock has the slight edge.

It's a tight battle though, either way they're great games. :)

I've never been much for my multiplayer games though - they rarely satisfy. Games really need to engage my brain and online FPS's rarely have - though I accept that with a good team and communication it can be done. I've not found it much though - the best online experiences I've had have pretty much all been RTS, though even then I'll buy a game on it's single player merits first. The notable exception was Shadowrun - I bought that more out of curiosity for Live on Windows than anything else, but the gameplay was superb, so many layers of tactics with the Tech abilities and Magic. Plus the fa nasty element was a refreshing change.

Had a brainless half hour playing Halo 2 online last night, and I had fun, but I wouldn't buy the game just for it.

OK just checked my TV stats and it's only a 50Hz TV.
(It's only about 4.5 years old :( )
Forza 2 says it requires a 60Hz one :(

I'm not sure re Forza 2. I know that I've got 1 60Hz game that refuses to play at all without 60Hz but another one that just loads up with a warning that some effects may be distorted, but you can still play it and I've never noticed a difference.

What did you make of CSI Daz?
I've spent most of the day playing LMA Manager 2007. Admittedly I'm completely scorewhoring it but I'm enjoying it anyhow. Certainly not a patch on the Football Manager series though.
Not too settled with Cabela's Alaskan Adventure. I can shoot all manners of people in games without my conscience feeling unsure, but polar bears.....no :p I figure it's because I have good reasons to shoot people in the game usually, polar bears are just too innocent for me ;)
Kingdom Under Fire isn't too bad but definite rental material. It'd be too tedious to pay money for.

Same old same old, but that's a good thing :) Fourth case was weak but overall it was entertaining and casual. Ideal as an arcade game really if they could fit it into one - I'd finished it in under 5 hours without a guide. Should have done more with the achievements, but at least it's no Avatar!

Showed itself as a quick dirty port once or twice but there have been worse adaptations :)

Bioshock is beginning to hook me now. It's almost cinematic as a world and story, and the gameplay mechanics are superb.

I'm quite enjoying Armoured Core 4. I suspect I'm probably the only person here to play it but as a rental its doing its job. The controls are really bad but when things work its nice. Its quite satisfying to take off and use my beam sabre to take down an enemy unit. However I find I often fly right past them or lose them due to the camera. It really needs a target lock on view. Its also cool to use the engines to quickly approach a warship firing at me, dodging all its attacks and then destroy it. It has moments like this but most of them are wrapped in annoying controls and bad camera angles :D Its no Zone of Enders, and I would soooo love to see ZoE 3 out on the 360.

Use a properly upgraded Chemical Thrower and use the electrical gel. A single clip is enough to take the Big Daddy down without him so much as moving as the electric gel will keep him shocked until he dies :)

I also realise Daz probably doesn't have this yet either :D

That's absolutely exactly how it went.

Get Stuck -> Visit all possible locations and click around screen madly -> get excited when you trigger dialogue, only for it to be useless -> begin combining related items -> find yourself at a loss -> combine the most unlikely of items, usually finding your answer :D

The only thing that puts me off AITD5 is the fact it's so far into the series. I've not looked at it since number 2, so I'm not sure how much I'm going to miss out on not knowing where the stories been.

US, February 20, 2008 - It looks like GDC isn't over yet for Ryu Hayabusa and Ninja Gaiden 2. Those willing to look around on the Xbox Live Marketplace will notice a not-yet-selectable Ninja Gaiden II demo is listed as part of the GDC 2008 Bringing it Home content.

To find it, go to the Marketplace tab and look at what is in the Spotlight. Go up to the GDC banner and then drill down to find a tab for New Game Announcements. Under Ninja Gaiden II you can find the video released today as well as the upcoming demo. Currently the tab lists it as "Coming Soon" which hopefully means before the end of this week. Keep your eyes on the Marketplace for your first taste of Ninja Gaiden II.

Just been reading up on a game called APB. It is a MMO and it looks like a really good concept. What you have a a city which is populated completely by players and there are 2 sections, the cops and the criminals. It's being done by the guys who did crackdown.

You still go there but they are basically afraid of you. The woman says something about wanting to believe there is still good in you and giving you another chance IIRC.

Another downside to harvesting over saving is that you don't get the extra gifts they leave for you. This means that you are unable to get the tonic collector achievement as they leave one in a gift pack at some point in the game.

I think the DLC helps there. I unlocked that this morning and cant believe I've picked up every tonic in the game. I'd like to think I'm on target for the diary achievement but there's so many it's a fools hope really.

I've gone through the game without a guide or looking at the secret achievements which has been a good balance between unlocking them leaving the story alone. Quite enjoyed the twists so far!
