Yup, bloody good game that, I recommend it highly. It's pretty fun going through it for the achievements as well as most of them can be got relatively easily. I'd definitely recommend a guide though as some of the simulator disks you need to find during the levels are a little hard to find unless you know where to look for them :)

There is a plot, but it's not one that you'll be too bothered about spoiling. It's typical super-hero stuff - bad guy plans to take over the world, bad guy nearly succeeds, hero saves the day. I think there's a guide to disk locations on Gamefaqs that doesn't give any spoilers away, so you could use that. I can't point you to it though as GF is blocked in work.

I haven't played it too much yet but so far it's beautiful. Perhaps not to the same level of graphical scale as Mass Effect but it's very JRPG like which is excellent :D
The story hasn't quite got going yet but they never do with RPGs at this stage. The immortal thing seems quite intriguing though. And I love the little stories that pop up as you go along, it slows the game down but I've really enjoyed reading them.

The action is just like a FF game, I'd probably compare it most to FF8 so far in the battle system due to the 'trigger/ring' system being like the gunblade.

It's got a hell of a lot of promise for me :D Hopefully I'll get to play it a lot this weekend.
Fingers crossed it isn't another Mass Effect/Eternal Sonata for me (great at the time but looking back, ultimately lacking in something).

Was talking to Daz about that at the weekend. With the video marketplace now getting into full swing it seems to make perfect sense to me. The only people who will suffer are the ones who have the 20GB drive as they may well have to fork out for the 60GB if they want the extra room. Hopefully the price for the 60GB drive will be sensible.

Not hugely enjoyable so far. There's too much going on at once and not enough direct information about where you should be going or what your objectives are. Maybe it's because I'm new to the series, I don't know. I'll persevere though, as it's for review I'd be doing it an injustice to just stop playing after an hour or so.

Dynasty Warriors 5 seems a lot like that. Started playing it the other day and I still don't really know wtf's going on :p
Was the same with Samurai Warriors 2 but I hoped after Bladestorm I'd understand the Koei way better.

Dynasty Warriors has been the same for every incarnation, so there's not really a back story on how it all works. Hack 'n' slash your way through every enemy trying to find your main target. There's not really much more to it, just click on conditions before the start of each level, and that shows you who to kill, an the lay out of the map.

General rule is Preperation > weapon > conditions > battleground > start > run around pressing X. If it's not auto, press back to bring up the health of enemys so you can see who to kill, very irritating when you're in blue, and the opponents are purple.

I'll try my best to answer any questions really, i'm a bit of a DW geek.

Ah, so I'm not missing anything then, the story just sucks ;D I finished off one level earlier today and I'll do some more tomorrow, it was fun enough but I'm sure it'll get repetative soon enough.

The story is actually based on ancient history, some of the stories about the characters are brilliant. To give you an idea about what's changed,

- There are no 4th/ultimate weapons in this game, which have been a predominant fixture in all of the previous ones. Instead, the game give's your character 3/4 regular weapons, with each individual weapon having various power and traits, the game then uses the 'Renbu' meter to determine how many attacks you can pull off and how powerfull the attacks are.

- There is no Red Hare (Lu Bu's horse) or Hex Mark (Guan Yu's horse). The horses are given a random name from a list, and random stats. They also have their own traits which can be gained by leveling them up. This is a new feature to the series, as previously you could only choose to have a horse or not, rather than choose out of 8 horses.

- There are less characters than the previous versions, which means that one of the achievements is slightly easier, but there's not the same depth anymore.

- Every character no longer has their own Musou mode, instead, they've just used 17 characters to tell the story. I'm assuming this is because some of the characters would have exactly the same stages as another one, so there's not much point doing the same thing twice (ironic for this game no?)

- The skill tree has been introduced. Normally you would increase your stats by items gained on the battlefield, but this way gives you more of an option on how you want you character to develop, whether you want them to build up good health straigh away, or you with to get your Renbu to max so you can use the infinite combo.

They're the first things that come to mind that are different from the previous games, there's probably a few more, but that much thinking has given me a headache. I could probably go into more detail if you wish, or give you my opinion on the changes?

Electronic Arts has finally announced a release date for Harmonix’s band simulator in the United Kingdom.

Out on May 23rd, Rock Band will release exclusively on Xbox 360 with Playstation 3, PS2 and Wii versions scheduled for a vague “summer”.

If you’ve been living in a cave, on a mountain or in the big brother house for the past few months, Harmonix left the Guitar Hero franchise to Activision, jumped ship to Electronic Arts and released Rock Band – the natural extension of their talents bringing guitar, vocals and drums into one harmonious explosion of sound.

Rock Band’s selection of tracks is incredible in both quality (in partnership with MTV, Rock Band features mostly original master tracks of the songs) and quantity. Besides the game’s 67 on-disc tracks (9 of which are exclusive to our European version), the number of songs available on Xbox Live (or Playstation Network) is reaching 100.
On May 27th, The Xbox Live will crush under the weight of these 70 downloadable songs being released for Europeans to pick and choose from. After that, European and American owners will receive brand new tracks simultaneously each week. (Songs are 160 MS Points each, £1.36)

Price Information:
In the UK, you won’t be able to buy the complete experience in one box. The instruments will available for £129.99 and the game itself will be sold separately for £49.99 (RRP). Together, this comes to a WHOPPING £180. When your product is more expensive in pounds than the relative dollar price tag ($169.99), you know you’re abusing your British customers.

The best course of action is to go piece meal; pick up the game, find a crappy USB mic, use your Guitar Hero 2 Xplorer Guitar (Wireless Guitar will be sold separately for £59.99) and grab a Drum Kit for £69.99.

My Mum pointed out the Lego games on the 360 earlier today and seemed interested in Lego Star Wars and the future Indiana Jones game, so seems like it might be a good idea at some point if I can find it cheap or resub to Lovefilm.

Got it for the Wii having played it on the PC ages ago.

In parts I both love and loathe it. Some of the levels are just horrifically laid out with no real sense of direction or anything to give you an idea where you're supposed to go. Lana and I have wasted ages wondering back and forth looking for what we've missed.

Other than that its sheer genius and leaves us laughing :)

Yea, Rock Band's gonna kill my score (even though I know i'll be able to get the full 1000 some day). I've also got GH: Aerosmith on the rental list as it looks like easy points at the moment, just got to wait for the secret ones to be unveiled.

I also believe I can get 1000 in GH2 as I just need 500k and co-op stuff, which i'm hoping I can do with my mate as he's getting quite good now :)

Rock Band should be great achievement wise. People who've played it reckon that RB expert is about the same as GH3 hard, so that means I should be able to complete expert guitar at some point. The drums look like great fun and I'll definitely be giving that a good go, and Lynnie can do the singing for me as she's a really good singer and probably won't have any problems with it.

When it comes out we definitely need to get some online sessions going, it'll be awesome :)

These two comments got me thinking, who has played the most games out of the 3 of us, and who really is the biggest whore out of the 3 of us. Being bored in work, I decided to look into it properly.

I used 360 Voice and copied all of our played games into a spreadsheet, then deleted all of the games with zero points (probably arcade demos and crap games). Here are the stats I got from it....

There's plenty more stats I could come up with, but it's pretty obvious that Chris is the real point whore here :p

Don't think I am the completionist of the 3 of us, as Chris is the only one who's got a 50%+ average on the games he's played in terms of achievement points. I'm hovering around 48% I think. I'm also giving GTA a rest for a while. After completing the main storyline I found doing some of the side missions a little boring, so I'll give it a rest for a while before going back to it. I've still got half the deliverys to do, all the races, all the car stealing (not Brucie's, the other ones), all the random characters, and then perhaps the stunt jumps and pigeons if I decide I want to do them.

At the moment I'm playing NBA 08, which is good fun. The achievements are good and all gettable, some easier than others though. It'll just take me a few hours to get the last ones as it means simulating 10 seasons which take about 20 minutes per season. When that's done that'll go back to Swapgame and I may go back to DMC4 myself till I get Rock Band :)

DMC4 is shaping up to be good fun. I've only just started it but things are ok. The camera might annoy me a little as time goes on and the jumping is a little :/ but on the whole I'm happy.
