Just saw that but it begs the question, whats it going to work with? The dashboard in some way?

If I want a Mii, I'll play on the Wii.
Exclusively for now I guess. I imagine MGS will have some arcade games up their sleeve to get it going, then they'll pimp it to the third parties. Assuming it's real anyway!
Quite looking forward to E3 this year - if only to give Alan Wake chance to get a release date.

It all came from this research site full of holes. Lots of nice bits in there, my rss is going nuts with all of it! It's all rumour of course, but things like MS jumping on the Singstar wagon were always inevitable.

I wouldn't mind a new disc based Scene It so long as it's priced similar to the board games (without the controllers though of course).
Ahhh, obsessive moment over. I now have a gamerscore that should only end in 5 or 0 from now on :D The ending in 4 or 9 bit was getting irritating :p

Got a couple of 8 point achievements coming up in Universe at War - they'll annoy me!
I think I'll be clear for a while. At least until I go back to finishing up FM2006 or FM2007 which has some awkward numbered ones.

I've heard of a few people who have had that, I think it depends on the code used but I'm not sure.
I haven't got the code I used anymore otherwise I'd give you that :( As that one worked fine for a second trial. So some do exist.

I'd suggest googling for codes, there seems to be hundreds at the moment. There must be one that'd work fine :) Mine didn't involve changing names or households, and was the same account from before too.

Give it a few days to go inactive then give it a shot. When I renewed mine, I waited a day after cancelling it so the cancellation went through, then used a code and had np. Entirely depends on the codes I think.

I don't know if anyone else is a fan of tennis games, but Top Spin 3 is out this week, and at a cheap £30 as well (and Quidco on top of that). Looks like a very achieveable 1000 as well, though it won't be a quick one. Hopefully mine will arrive on Thursday :)
I quite liked Top Spin 2 :) So I might rent Top Spin 3. Let us know what it's like.

That was Virtua Tennis 3. I faced Federer in that match instead of Henman. I just played another year on tour just doing the training games and the Grand Slams and beat him fairly easily the following year. It was the last match against the 2 hidden players that I could never get past :/

And therin lies my Dilema, NG2 and Rock band are too good so i'm finding it hard not to play them. My last 5 games a week ago were Rock Band, GH3, GH2, BBR and DDR, with Madden in the middle. DAMN YOU RHYTHM GAMES!

I enjoy whoring points but could never give up playing good games in favour of the points, so I try to keep a balance when possible. Although I do sometimes get a little hooked when near hitting a new goal.

A question for those in the know. Was reading another forum earlier and came across this gem:
then i just went out and bought an xbox 360 and got i totally addicted to the online gaming. i ended up being ranked 12th in the uk from a few million gamers i had around 130k gamescore and ended up selling my xbox live tag for 250 quid 5 months ago
Anyone heard anything about this or if it's even possible? Hasn't said what his tag was though.
Would have thought it'd be pretty easy to do, much like selling accounts for World of Warcraft, so against the terms you agree to, but still possible.
No idea why you'd pay money for it though :/

Speaking of new releases there is a COD5 preview out this weekend. I've heard COD3 was pants but COD2 was good. Has anyone played it?
I've played all 4. CoD3 is lacking a certain something but it's by no means terrible imo. Just not as compelling as 2 or 4.
Got high hopes for CoD5 and the Bond game (also being made by Treyarch).

Good so far, but I'm only a couple of hours into it. They've completely changed the shot mechanics so it's taking time to re-adjust to them, but I think it'll have a lot more depth than previous games :)
Might rent that sometime then :D

Try playing online, it's awesome when you meet someone who has similar stats as you can have some great games. It's just a shame that you can be matched with someone far better than you (stat wise) which gives you pretty much no hope at all. I imagine when everyone has got fully levelled players the tournaments will be excellent. Maybe next time I'll go one further than being French Open runner up! :)

I was coming round the last corner to kill the last terrorist and the guy by the loos on the right killed me with his shotgun :( never made it back to that point after that but have my strategy down nicely now just my team mates are too slow :p

Oh I wont go for the hidden ones - dont have the hair left for it! Agility hasn't been too bad really, I've knocked 'em out pretty quickly without a guide or anything - have been poaching the last 50 or so while going through all the races and hitting Master Agent. Was 3 on Sunday, 2 yesterday, and one today. At least the agility orbs are all in plain sight so it should just be a matter of time.... he says!

I saw Crackdown in Gamestation today for £7.99 second hand. I'm waiting for it to drop to £4.99 though :D Seen quite a few decent games for £7.99 but I figure they're bound to drop down more soon enough, and I'm skint enough that the £3 makes the difference.

Nice one with the orbs. I've gone back to Lost Odyssey, just hit the 4th disc which I'll be on for a while to play through all the sidequests before completing it.

Jeez, it bored me to tears, will probably complete it someday though, when it comes to overtaking you. Harry Potter was quite enjoyable I thought, better than a lot of movie-game conversions recently.
I'm still a scorewhore (hense Amped) but i'm turning back to older games to try and fully complete them, and aim for harder achievements, so you will definatley pass me soon, my rental list is filled with hard point games. Only chance I have is blitzing all these hard games as quick as humanly possible and playing 24/7. Once I hit 60k i'll be a happy man.

I'm mixing up my easy point rentals with 1king games I own like Lost Odyssey and FM2008 so it's not all easy points. I'm down 1 rental at the moment too as my Mum's been busy on the wii with an Agatha Christie game I got off Lovefilm.

I'd heard good things and bought it really cheap a while ago. But it seems pretty crap :/ Think it'll go back in the pile for a more desperate time.
Might brave Condemned instead, hoping in small daylight doses I can manage it :D
Really getting into Lost Odyssey now. Only really broke from it to have a blast with Feeding Frenzy - my new console turned up so I swapped it out (great timing with the DRM tool!) and decided to go through FF as I have all the others. Gonna chuck it in with my old core, guy at work is having that off me :)

I'm on the final disc of Lost Odyssey and there's soooooooo much to do. There was a bit of a lull for me on the third disc but some things kick off that really bring it back up to scratch in time for late disc 3/disc 4.

Yep, plugged into HDMI 2 so I get the pixel mapping. Had a play with the settings and it looks slightly sharper and brighter though that wasn't why I did it - tis just easier to cable!

I read that on my Sammy it'll only do 1:1 mapping on HDMI2 - meaning I can only run the 360 at the TV's native res (1360x768) over that and VGA, the other HDMI's will cap me at 720p (1280x720). Though I never actually tried either of the other ports - HDMI 1 is the vision box and HDMI3 is on the side :)
Just had a look and mine's on HDMI2 as well so I think I might have realised it when I first set it up anyway :o;D
I know I remember fiddling around with all the settings till I was happy. It's my only HDMI device so it's scary the difference in quality between that and the Virgin box.
It's scarier knocking the 360 back to SD. Had to do it to change the refresh rate setting (else Feeding Frenzy wouldn't play) - man it's bad :S
I don't want to think back to those days *shudders*
The 3 months stuck with my SDTV and no VGA connection were long enough!

Well I managed to complete One Shot One Kill on Veteran last night and I didn't hide in no shacks/tree or booth :cool: I did however boobytrap my location and sniped from behind a tree. It was quite simple after I figured it out and to add insult to injury I actually missed the chopper first time round :( I picked up Mac and ran to the chopper and it took off :(
Nice :D I must go back to that on Veteran, saw both you and Davey have been playing it lately.
What are you making of CoD3 so far?

Excellent article, and I love his designs as well. I hadn't thought about all the wasted space on the Dash until he pointed it out. Hopefully we'll see some kind of announcement at E3 regarding it, as I think it could definitely do with an overhaul.
One thing they definitely need is a better way to sort/find/filter marketplace content, there's so much on there now. Also, I hope that when the XNA stuff takes off, they tie the user rating system into other marketplace content as well. A simple 5* rating for XBLA games - and the ability to sort them by rating - will be a great way of finding good stuff without having to wade through the treacle.
I really like those ideas :) Hope someone relevant takes note.

Been playing The Bourne Conspiracy this week. It starts out feeling really cool with some great presentation...then it turns far too repetitive and you realise every mission is essentially the same :/ Real shame.
It's not bad, it's just not very good. Not decided yet what to rate it as I think it might be a bit marmite-ish.

Me too. Doom was that game I saw some people play a bit. When I got a PC one of the first games I got was Duke Nukem 3D. I just missed out on Doom. I can still remember the first level. Hitting space till it broke offering the hookers money to "shake it baby." Someone in the comments does make a funny point. We could just download it and play it now ;)

I have the use of a shiny 360 for a while and have GH3 and Grid at the moment. Would be up for some multiplayer when I can finally put GH3 down!
On a related note, I got the 360 on Saturday and by Sunday night I had completed GH3 on medium (not to any great standard, but got the credits etc). I have gone and 5*'d every Easy track, which took me one play through of every track (:p) and am now trying to 5* every Medium track. Why oh why is Hard SUCH a step up from Medium? It seems that Easy to Medium is a bit of a step but Medium to Hard is a leap.

2 reasons for that Martin - the extra speed, and the additional finger needed. It's definitely the biggest jump as the jump from Hard to Expert is just extra notes and extra speed.

They packed a lot in. Lips looks good, the game itself is nothing over SingStar, guess they're hoping the ability to sing over your own tracks will sway people. Mic's look like a decent bit of kit though. New Scene It is almost way over the top, was just expecting more of the same. Gears 2 makes me want to go and finish Gears 1. Not sure on the new Avatar system, nor the TV show idea, but the new dash looks swish anyway. Browsing/buying online is a nice touch as well.
Either way, plenty to get your teeth into. Looking at the list of stuff in the PS3 2.4 update I felt Sony were catching up but this lot should raise the bar imo.

Yeah I'm really unsure about it. It's obviously part of a strategy to go after the market Nintendo has made, and I can understand they have to do something, I just hope it doesn't tarnish the thing for me.
They've done another good job of making me want to spend money though. Bastards :D
I'm not sure on the avatars either. I like that the 360 is a bit more grown up. I don't want it to get silly with big buttons and cheesey characters. I want a nice clean interface that works well. I don't want some bit of stationary telling me that it looks like I'm trying to play a game and asking me if I want help.

I've just watched the gameplay montages from RE5, GOW2, F2 and FF13. To be honest the one that doesn't interest me is FF13 but the other 3 look amazing.
Has anyone seen them? My one question about Co-Op in Fable 2 is where is the other person's dog? If you've seen the video you'll understand. Though perhaps the other person playing doesn't have a dog yet! :confused:

Nope, neither of them are. It does switch to a battle screen during fights and there is a menu system but you can run up to the opponent yourself and attack. It's a bit of a weird hybrid mix really. I like it as you feel more involved in the fights. Have a look for a video of Eternal Sonata and they have that sort of fighting system. :)

I'd wait for some concrete reviews before getting any kind of hopes up about it!
I can believe that considering some of the promises I've heard in the past ;D
Might not put that on the pre-order list then, and see how things turn out first.

Just a good ebay find. Guy was selling one (boxed retail with the transfer kit) but lives dead close. Had high delivery charges (which was keeping the bidding down) but offered collect. Will probably sell the transfer kit on, and if I actually sell the hard drive rather than trade it I'll get my money back.
If I could trade the hard drive for Rock Band solus I would though. Haven't geetar'd in a while but fancy some new songs.

Tell you what, this new hard drive aint half fast. Games library/achievements/media are very very snappy (games library in particular, was impressed by that when I saw Davey's), plus save game access etc is blasted through. Unexpected bonus! Even loading the live blade from boot seems quicker tonight, though I'd be surprised if that was actually down to the drive (I guess there's a lot of caching going on, so it would help there... dunno!).
Anyway, zippeh and lots of space. Splendid.
Sounds good :D Have to consider a new HDD come the fall update if I can swing it.
I succumbed to Civ Revolutions in the end :o Which was probably a financial mistake but had my eye on it since launch :D

But yeah I have been watching it for a while, it's been stuck at £35-£40 ever since but finally it dropped briefly :D Amazing how quickly 360 games drop in price really.
It's great. I guess it's supply - there are a lot of good games out there for the thing, and only a few hold high prices, normally the daddies (Orange Box, CoD, Halo). I've certainly spent much less on the 360 than I did the PS2 at roughly the same point in it's life.
Saw Orange Box was £15 on Gamestation last night, bargain :)
Been some great 4 for £20 deals lately too. In Gamestation you could pick up Crackdown, Kameo, Tomb Raider Legend and PGR3 all for £20 and all quality games.
The guy I sold my old box too did that. Took £20 into Gamestation and came out with some crackers - which is great value. Price of an arcade game each.

I picked up 3 games last night with some vouchers I had left over for Computer Exchange - Flatout, Jericho, and Civ Revolutions. Still got about £35 left as well for when something else tickles my fancy. Hopefully Civ will be good, I love the PC versions but not sure how it'll play on a console :)
Aww you could have borrowed Jericho if you'd said! Nokkon's got my copy at the moment but I know he's finished with it.

Go through the tutorials for sure. The shot mechanics are completely different to every other tennis game I've played before, and it takes some getting used to. The lessons are invaluable :)

Have got back into COD4 now which is fun. Have also managed to get my xbox to share my internet connection with my mac so I don't have to have wires running everywhere \o/

How civilised :D I just watched the trailer for Endwar and its got potential. I'm still not sold on the idea of console based strategy. While I feel that console based fps games are now fine and will beat anyone to death who says "Joypad? LOL Need mouse." I can't get on with strategy without the mouse. The idea of voice comms sounds interesting though, but again, will it get it right? I remember Rainbow 6 had it and was fun when it worked and fustrating when it didn't.
It's definitely going to come to the control system. Hopefully they'll get it right. I'd say it's certainly possible as Civ Revolutions works well with a joypad (although it is dumbed down a bit) and all the Football Manager games I've played have managed it too.
I hope they do. I really want Halo Wars to be brilliant and as comfortable to play as Halo was. I can lose a day to a good strategy game, the same skirmish too. I think I'm going to have to find a copy of AOE for OSX now. Damn it :D

Yup, play through the career with him or play online, and use the XP to improve your stats in the player area.

My advice would be to figure out what type of player you want to make early on, so you don't waste points going into areas you won't need. For example, I'm a baseline player but I put 20 points into net play which I wish I could get back as I very rarely approach the net at all.

Finished it on casual :) Quite enjoyed it but the plot seemed to just vanish after act 3. Wasn't really sure how/why I was on that train at the end either, nor where the bomb appeared from - unless I missed a chunk of cinematic somewhere :dunno:

I am addicted to Topspin 3 at the moment, just want to get through tournament after tournament (on easy). Tried it on Hard and got whipped 6-3, 7-5 by Sharapova, i was just about holding my serve and she broke me once in each set but i had no chance or even close to winning against her when she was serving.
Also tried NG2 demo, got bored after about 15 mins in, very nice graphic but i platform action games just doesn't interest me anymore.

If you haven't tried Braid I highly recommend you do. Great little platform/puzzler, lovely hand drawn style and great music. 1200 points to buy but I'm not regretting it so far.
In the trial you get to do all of World 2, and some of 3 and 4 (not sure what happened to 1!), and you should visit all three to get an idea of how they use the puzzle mechanics.

I briefly played the Braid demo last night and it seemed really good. But so pricey :(
I dont mind paying it if it's worth it (I would have paid 1200 for Puzzle Quest now knowing how much content there is). It *may* prove to be a little short for the price, but I dont think I'm going to feel short changed.
I'm a sucker for a puzzler as it is (I loved Eets), this just looks/plays/sounds so brilliant I couldn't resist!
I think the second hand market has skewed how much I'm willing to spend on Arcade games. 1200 points roughly work out as £10, I can buy 2 full games for that price if I look around :/
Plus I'd have to pay more anyway as I'd need to buy 2100 points in the first place.
I'll wait till a price drop I think, which is a pity as it does seem very different than most.

Currently we are just using a stereo amp but should be getting a surround sound amp some time in the future.
What is this dynamic range thing you speak of Drz? Will it mask the fan noise?
Creature - no matter how loud the amp is we can still hear the fans during quiet parts of the film!
The fans actually already slow down a bit when watching DVD's, but even that's rubbish. Not sure it does it for video's.

Finished Braid yesterday, well worth 1200 points despite it being quite short. Really had to sit and just think about how to solve the puzzles sometimes, just watching enemies plod back and forth and listening to the plinky plonky music! The last level is somewhat mind-blowing!
Had a go at the time trial for the whole game (45 minute limit) and managed to get through three worlds in 40 minutes. No idea how it's possible to complete in 45!

My 360 died yesterday afternoon with the red ring of death. It's out of warranty but I'm going to try and blag it with Microsoft anyway.
This goes brilliantly with the fooked Wii and the Macbook HD that went pop.

Worst case you can always do a Tesco trick if you aren't arsed with the morality of screwing them for cash monies. Buy new one, box old one in new box, take it back for refund.
