Just saw the new Assassins Creed vid and it looks great, the visuals are stunning.

Side missions :) I've only got 3 missions to go till i complete it so just wrapping up the side missions/whoring points.

Managed to catch up mostly now so didn't take as long as I thought it would :)
Just need to finish about 4-5 more side missions and I'll have caught up. Managed to get another achievement along the way so I feel better now :D

Well I've gotten another couple of bioshock achievements so think it's time for it to go back in the post.
Just tried the call of jurez (sp?) demo and can't read any of the text on my screen ;D so will be cancelling that off my list until we get our better TV.

Coming from the Wii and PS1, never had a console game that has speech instead text dialogue, the games that did that were all on the PC...aka HL2 :shocked: COD...etc.
Dead Rising started well ok, in the FMV the characters talk and I thought "wonderful !!!", then about 20 mins in he gets a call on his walkie talkie and to my horror it's text only :confused:. No matter how i squint i just can't make out the words on a TV.

Even if you're having trouble reading the text (as I initially did before I upgraded TVs) it's still well worth playing, it's easily one of the best games on the 360 IMO, and it deserves to be played and finished :)
Take out a Bike on One to One Race :D

Well the game as a whole I enjoyed though parts of it I simply didn't gel with. The concept, the weapons etc seemed well thought out. It started off really well and I enjoyed the tasks given, etc until I got to the Forrest area and then I just seemed to lose interest. Not sure whether it was the way I was playing (looking in everywhere) or COD4 but I left the game alone for what must have been 2 weeks. Then I started again and it all went great till the end, that to me was the biggest disappointment of the whole game. I just felt it ruined the whole experience. Well ok ruined might be too strong a word but it cheapened it at least.
I also thought the vita chambers cheapened the whole death experience. Towards the end of the game, unless I thought something big was on the way I simply didn't bother buying many first aid kits. Also pretty much the entire way through I didn't like having to kill the big daddies, I don't know what it was but I just felt sad about the whole thing.
Don't get me wrong there were alot of things done right with the game, the plasmids gave the whole FPS an entirely new slant and the tonics worked really well. I loved the camouflage one that got me out of a lot of sticky situations.
For now I'm finished with it so it's in the post. I will rent it again and play through it in a few months when I've forgotten lots of it and can use the guides to get the last few achievements.

Just briefly started playing Condemned (my attention span can't handle so many options for games atm :o) and omg the start just oozes class :D
Even for a launch title, it's managed to instantly hook me with the way it's introduced the story.
I've played later bits and really enjoyed it but I've got a feeling it's going to be something special to play through entirely :D
I'm playing such excellent titles at the moment, it rocks :D

Word is that the game features 10 single-player missions based on popular episodes from the TV series, although probably not the one where Leoben tries to play house with Kara Thrace.
Space combat's the key, of course, and if you're so inclined you'll also be able to take part in various multiplayer modes with up to eight players supported on XBLA and 16 on PC. You can play as either humans or Cylons, which seems a bit unfair since the latter can respawn, unless they're fighting without Resurrection Ships, which would be ludicrous.

Not me, some reviewer :) In fact, I read another preview just this morning which said the same as the first one I read - decent game let down by an awful control system. Though both reviews were based on preview releases, so we'll see next week I guess :)

Fifa is annoying me quite a bit at times now. Some of the achievements are annoying such as the 'Win 50 games in a row on Professional'.
Whilst there is no doubt in my mind Fifa was the better demo and probably the better game, I've played so much of it lately that once I get all the achievements bar the challenges (they are insane) then I'll use it as a trade-in title whilst it has some value.

If you're good at the game it would just be time consuming I guess. It would just be like asking me to win 50 games in a row on Pro Evo, I could do it, but I may occassionally need to restart the console if I wasn't winning with a minute to go or something ;)

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I'm 29 games in. But the lowest you can do is 4 minute halves, so it takes just over 10 minutes A GAME.
Very time consuming.

Battlestar Gallactica - so far rather good :) though MP is very very laggy. Might just have been the game I played.
I looked at it and am still disappointed to find we have yet another 3D space shooter tied on 2D rails (3 now by my count - BG, Aegis Wing and Wing Commander). Someone make a space and let me fly where I want damn it!

Took me 2 or 3 attempts, I think I'm on mission 4 or 5, it's some silly competion to see who is the Top Gun, keep getting my arse handed to me :(

Well when I first started playing it I thought it was pretty poor to be honest, only reason I continued playing it was because the poofta was quite amusing. After awhile I guess I've got quite addicted to it, I like the whole combat thing, with the different attacks covering different squares etc etc.
Read your review think that sums it up pretty well, guess I',m going to have to start pumping up Atsuma's HP abit tho.
GF started playing it now, (I think she likes the cute golems)
The end will be harsh, it's way too unbalanced for the last couple of bosses which sucks. Shoddy design there imo.
Aye, awful. I never finished it because I couldn't be arsed to pour hours into bumping up a character.
Slim chance I'll go back to it while I'm offline, but unlikely now I have the orange box.

I heard that too but the multiplayer is well worth it. I'm still playing COD 2 multiplayer, I think COD 4 will offer more than the COD 2 has.
I always find multiplayer is a great idea for me for the first few weeks then I get bored because I miss playing for a few days and suddenly everyone's godly but me and it just gets crap.
I played CS for years but that felt different as there were specific servers I went on so it was more the community than anything I enjoyed.
But these days, I'd say I'm pretty much solely a single player gamer now.
I'll definitely get CoD4 at some point and no doubt once everyone starts raving about it, I'll want it. But I think while I have to be sensible with my purchases, I'll probably get The Orange Box first as it'll last me longer. :)

I'm with Haly on the multi/single idea, however that didn't stop me throughly enjoying BF2 back in the day. If you don't have time to invest in becoming godlike, find some friends to casually play with. I'd say 99% of my time on BF2 was with a friend or two on Skype who I'd introduced to the game :D

I think that friendly COD4 matches could be fantastic. Get 4 people on each side, make sure the map is fairly small and compact and it would be ace. It would give a chance for everyone to learn maps and tactics from the others who will no doubt have played it more (probably Leo, Wellington and myself).
I'll definitely get CoD4 at some point, just not immediately I don't think.
Think lately I've been going through quite a run of wanting single player games, multiplayer requires too much commitment from me at the moment :o
What is the "desire" spec to run this game?
I really don't want to play this on a Joypad aka my 360. But my PC is only a P4 3.2Ghhz, 2Gig Ram, 256mb ATI X800 XTPE. Is that enough to run it on say 1280x1024?

I must say though, with a little practise the joypad feels perfectly natural and it's not that hard compared to using a keyboard/mouse.

Huh. Assasins Creed got 7/10 on Eurogamer. Short story is Crackdown does things a lot better. Thats a real shame as it looked great. Though I'm a tiny bit relieved that its not a must buy. Short on funds.
Edit: Just noticed the bit about 500 points for loyal subscribes. Woo :D In it since the beta with Motogp.

How does that work?
You'd log in with your Korean account, go to the marketplace and download whatever it is you're after (Hexic 2 in this case), then sign back in with your UK account and play the game. The problem comes when you have to change console doe to 3RLOD, as the download is tied to 2 things - your console, and your account. If your console is changed only the account that downloaded the game can play it. It means when I get my Elite next week I'll have to create a new US account and re-download Aegis Wing if I want to play it again on my primary account.
It's very easy to do :)
I currently have my proper account, a US account, a Japanese account and a Korean account :D

To break it down:
Create hotmail address stating you're in Korea (doesn't matter if it's a hotmail.co.uk address)
Create Silver Live account stating you're in Korea and link it with the hotmail address.

I've created hotmail accounts saying I'm in each country, and then I create gamertags on top of those live accounts. After that they're locked to the country I said in the first place.
Not sure how it works for none MS addresses but tbh I dont want to waste any dwuk.net addy's.
I didn't even create a hotmail account, just used an email address on my domain here and went through the setup procedure.
Once I've got the game, can I delete the live account, or will that kill the game?

The first time mine died I sent it back and waited for it to be returned. When mine died last Sunday I ordered a new Elite on Monday night, though I'll keep the old one when it's returned as it'll be useful when we move into the new house.
How are you getting the saved games data across?
The thing is mine was bought for me from GAME, it was a 2nd hand one, but it does come with GAME's 12 month warranty, but i have no idea how long from it's original purchase (thou must be less than 2 years). And i dunno whether i should take it back next week or wait until it dies proper.

When you send your 360 back to MS they don't ask for your hard drive, so you simply plug that into your new/refurb unit and all your save games will be there.
I guess the question wasn't clear, I meant to ask if you have the data cable as you are getting the Elite so 120G HD so wondering how you are getting all your save games and Arcade Games across.

I have a new 360 now too :D
took it back to Game and they didn't have any 2nd hand premiums in so I paid the extra and got a NEW premium. Unfortunately it's £50 more or £70 with 2 games so I paid £70 more and then traded in the games in for credit (£43). Resulting in £27 for a new Premium with HDMI :D. Manage to keep my old HD, but they had to take out the Ethernet cable and wired headset from the new one because my second hand one never had it, which is fair enough, I got a wireless headset and ethernet cables are 2 a penny anyway.
Got home, all ready to play and notice the flap at the front where the USB plugged into was broken so went back to town and got another one now. Just realise I got the head set and ethernet cable in this one.....a different guy in the second time when I went back forgot to take it out (going to go back later and return it as they've actually treated me really good about it).
A few things i've notice.
Everything now is not as good quality......
The whole PSU construction is using a more lighter and fragile plastic, the plug end that goes into the 360 hasn't got the metal clip.
Saw the new HD and its even more plastictastic, doesn't have the silver metal rim around it.
Anyway, its updating now on XBL....taking its time....
but new 360 :D :D :D

Chatted to Shaun (RedBezza) about it as he's playing it and he said it's good. Not as repetative as we're led to believe. I should hopefully be renting it soon once I finish HL2 and send it back.

Just completed CoD4, great game :) Really atmospheric in places. Anyone who's not completed it, make sure you wait till the end of the credits when you finish it.

That was a fun night with my Xbox back in action. CoD4 MP all night, about 200 kills (including 150 with the G3), and a 5 level increase, now up to level 30. Reminded me why I missed my 360 so much last week :D

I read the Eurogamer review on Mass Effect, well skipped to the conclusion and score. 8/10. They say its a great game but it just wasn't *as* good as they wanted it to be. I still plan on trying to ebay a kidney to buy it. :D

I have found it to be a little repetitive, but the everything else makes up for it for me. The AI isn't a problem and I find it quite funny to hidden blade someone and walk away with a guard a few feet away. Although I tried to do hidden blade kill guard who was talking to another guard from the back and got caught, so the AI isn't totally useless. What is the silliest thing I saw is when they were chasing me I climb on top of this archer tower and then accidentally fell down from the top (took most of my health but no all), they went a follow me by jumping off and died lol 3-4 bodies just fell from the sky, that was quite amusing.
You can play the game by going all Gung Ho into the assassination or sneak in, and once you are in you can even sneak up and kill and sneak away or just fight to the death, thou more often than not the target starts running away into the streets which ending up with me chasing him with about 20 guards chasing me..lol Ususally ending with me doing a jump/hidden blade to his neck for the kill.
I have to applaud the designers for the city design, the streets, the walls, roof tops are amazing to go around in and climb. It seems to natural to just go from running on some back alley to find a dead end by just climb up on that window and then on the roof. The viewpoints too are really cool, some are REALLY breath taking. The best one is obviously the highest one in the city, the tower on the cathedral in Arca is absolutely enormous, and have to sit on the top of the cross to achieve it, the view from the top and the leap of faith to the ground has to be seen to be believed.
I also find throwing the beggers around quite strangely amusing, one time i accidentally killed one when when i threw her into a market stall which caused it to collapsed and fell on top of her and the people in the queue...mini-massacre lol
I'm loving the throwing knives at the moment. Someone just too far out of reach to kill them quickly? Throw a knife at them :D

Yea it is. It's fun when everyone is worse than you. Lost once in about 20 goes. I was gonna get it again tonight, but I cant think of what games to trade in. got SC, Bulletwitch and SVR, but they won't get me much.

As you may have guessed, the game will again take place in Las Vegas. That town just can't get a break, can it? According to the press release, the sequel will "break new ground in both co-op and adversarial modes, while providing unprecedented interaction between the solo and multiplayer modes." What exactly this "interaction" is, we don't know. Maybe you can take your online avatar into campaign missions. Perhaps the leveling system works both in campaign and in adversarial multiplayer. Whatever Ubisoft does, we're just hoping they don't try to fix what ain't broken.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is scheduled to arrive in March of 2008.

Oh yeah. Mass Effect will stay sealed until Sunday I reckon, but GH3 will be cracked open as soon as I get home :D
I'm going to open my copy of Mass Effect tomorrow, look at all its shininess and go ooh a lot. Then get in the car and head North ;D
Depending how early it arrives, I might manage to load it up and probably just watch the opening cut scene.
Mines down with a melty gfx card. If I send it in and get it repaired I get a warranty of 90 days. Does anyone know if they fix that particular problem permamently? Or it is just going to melt again in a years time and i'm facing a repair bill.
Otherwise I'll just buy a new one, rip the casing off both of them and switch them round so the serial numbers on the back are swapped. Then i'll take the old broken one in the new case back to the shop for a refund.
As I understand it they're pretty much just replacing units that come back with the new chipset and mobo/cooling design, so you would hope it'd be fine.
Dont have any personal experience of that though.
Mines down with a melty gfx card. If I send it in and get it repaired I get a warranty of 90 days. Does anyone know if they fix that particular problem permamently? Or it is just going to melt again in a years time and i'm facing a repair bill.
Otherwise I'll just buy a new one, rip the casing off both of them and switch them round so the serial numbers on the back are swapped. Then i'll take the old broken one in the new case back to the shop for a refund.
My serial number wasn't even checked when I took it back to Tesco. They didn't open the box!
I did a similar thing with my Wii and nothing came of it, i doubt the serials get looked at till months after you've returned it and its found its way back to the repair centre.
I thought that also but its such a glorious idea it has to be done for the sake of it really.
Hmmm. I have no money and 3 games to buy. Reckon GRAW2 + Forza 2 will score me 1 game? I know last time Game / Gamestation would only give me £5 for Splinter Cell DA. I reckon I'd only get £5 for Dead Rising too. I know, I should complete the game but I just keep getting killed! My own fault for ignoring the plot and going after zombies. I'd prefer to enjoy Mass Effective, GH3 and Ace Combat 6 though. Could really do with blowing a wad of cash right now.

I'm going to open my copy of Mass Effect tomorrow, look at all its shininess and go ooh a lot. Then get in the car and head North ;D
Depending how early it arrives, I might manage to load it up and probably just watch the opening cut scene.
Might pop up to PC World tomorrow and get Kane and Lynch and Mass Effect for £30 each, we wonlt be leaving here till late afternoon so plenty of time to play :)

Thanks to my parents I have Guitar Hero 3 from HMV @ £60. I traded in Dead Rising, GRAW2 and Splinter Cell for £25 + card points and I got Ace Combat 6 for nearly free so I only had to pay for Mass Effect really. Only hit me on the way home that I don't have time now to really play them. :D

I got my copy of Mass Effect and GH3 through, and I love the Mass Effect LE box, lovely and shiny. 4pm needs to get here quicker so I can go home and start my birthday weekend in style! :D

Wow Mass Effect is gripping stuff. It does feel like KOTR. I'm going around as a guy who escaped the gangs on Earth by joining the military. While on a mission I saw everyone get killed and I was the only survivor. I'm a bit of a lose canon, a heartless guy who doesn't have time for pleasantries. For the most part I'll play by the rules. Though there are times when I just won't care and I will kill for fun. The way the game works with the options you've chosen really add to the whole character effect. People have heard of me, people have heard of the incidents that shaped my character. Theres so much voice acting too. Its great not to have to read bits of text for unimportant NPCs. Its a really engrossing game. However, the frame rate does drop often. There's a lot of tearing and texture popups. It does feel like they didn't have time to finish up coding it, like its a preview release. Its a darn shame because this is the sort of game you want to get caught up in and these bugs break the illusion.

I've heard about the tearing which is a shame. Perhaps they'll get a bug out asap and fix all that so the experience can be enjoyed infull.
I hope so. It feels like I'm playing on a PC and my drivers need updating.
For someone who, for some reason, didn't get on with KOTOR would I get on with Mass Effect? I really want to play it but not 100% sure I'll like it. It's tempting to get it regardless though.
Does anyone have KOTOR I could borrow? ;)
