I've just started listening to a few podcasts regularly and was curious which ones others can recommend?

Currently:

http://feeds2.feedburner.com/dailyaudiobible Through the bible in one year.

http://rss.sciam.com/sciam/60secsciencepodcast 60 Seconds of Science, a great quick daily current science 'cast, almost always interesting

http://www.npr.org/buckets/podcasts/main/podlayer.php?id=1051 Driveway specials, odd bits of compelling and quirky news, stuff that you'd sit in the car on the driveway waiting for the end of.

http://podcast.insightcruises.com/rss - very geeky science stuff. Currently covering the physics of baseball

http://www.twit.tv/node/4346/feed - this week in tech. Leo Laport and co present an amusing off beat look at the week's tech news.

Somebody, sell me podcasts.

I honestly didn't get why they were so popular, and even why they got their own name. It's like a downloadable bit of "live" radio you can then choose to play later on? But most players connect to the radio now and have record functions. And/or a download section?

I have a tonne of trance podcasts somewhere, considering that a lof of DJ's release their best sets as albums, I don't know why I've labelled the folder like that.

Oh and Arseblogger. Mad, getting old, clearly an alcoholic, Irish, loud and sweary. :D

I enjoy them as I can't stand commercial radio and Radio 5 is just far too condescending to it's audience and guests for my taste. Great in the car and great for when I go for a walk at lunch time.

I have quite a variety to keep me entertained

Podcasts have nothing to do with the radio. Its just that some stations "air" their best as a podcast. Its audio blogging.

Adam & Joe is one example of this. I'd rather listen to an hour of edited highlights than a three hour show interspersed with music. The editing is so good you can barely tell it's a radio show too.

Friday night comedy is pretty good.
I get this occasionally. Usually my favourite comedians :)

Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington have released several series over the years. Very lighthearted and funny. In parts you realise just how clever Gervais is actually, and in comparision, how dense Karl is. :)

If I've done that right (and it took bloody ages to find all the feed links) then each link should open iTunes and go to the podcast. I hope it was worth my while!

Stephen Fry's Podgrams, Ricky Gervais/Karl Pilkington, Russell Howard, and I used to ADORE the Russell Brand podcasts until he resigned due to the 'sachs-gate' saga.

Nothing has made me laugh so hard since he has been removed from the air. :(
