View Full Version : Pole Dancing Music Help!
I'm pretty sure there's someone that does pole dancing on here but I can't remember who :o
Anyways, to make it up to the next class level I have to do a show. It's basically to prove I have the upper body strength to do the more advanced moves so sexyness, dancing in time to the beat won't really count. We have to make up our own routine and pick the music. I'm thinking about doing the routine on the fly as I don't have any place to practice it.
The music on the other hand I'm not so sure. I'm looking for something about 3ish minutes. Not slow, but not fast. I'm into any music and trying to pick songs from my collections is fairly hard. I'm quite liking Avril Lavigne - Hot, The All American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret and The Offsrping - She's Got Issues but not really sure if they're suitable?
I'll be honest and say I'm not quite sure what I'm asking :o but any songs suggested I'd listen to. Any help would be muchly appreciated!

Roberta. :)
Can't help with the rest though.
Hiya.
You should still be able to practice the transitions and talk yourself through the counts of the spins working out where you need to land and the beats you need to do it in without the pole.
Not sure what stage you're at at the moment so can't really help with music. What moves are you including in the routine and what order so far?

Britney - Circus :D
or maybe quite a bit of Christina's stuff, but more so Britney stuff :p
Although i actually have no knowledge of pole dancing...
//Edit: Well the wrong knowledge you're looking for anyway...
Christina Aguillera - Dirty.
'nuff said! :D :o

I'm only early stages yet.
The moves we've got to fit in are fireman, crossed leg fireman, hang tough, sunbather, dizzy, reverse? dizzy, a move where you hold yourself up with your thighs but I have no idea what it's called and one we will learn tonight. With varying grinds, etc in between.
I'm not sure if he calls him the proper names or not, so I might be talking pants! :o
Tonight I'm going to work out the bare bones of the routine. Will start of with grind, CL fireman, dizzy, some floor "sexyness", and that's as much as I've got so far.
I've just thought of something else too! I need to have an outfit. Oh dear.
Are you doing it with Ambyglam?
Most moves are called different things in different schools but those are Polestar names so I know the ones you mean.
I must admit I don't do grinding, just bodwaves as I like the pretty ballet type style, but I know Ambyglam is big on grinding!
For music I would always say choose something you're comfortable with. Dance around at home before class to some stuff and start to narrow it down. Some music just jumps out at you as perfect!
There's a lot of spins in the routine so you can get away with something quite flowy.
Yeah, it's with him. How did you know?
What's a bodywave?
Dancing around at home isn't always easy, I have a cat that's constantly round my feet and a boyfriend who, as soon as he sees be dancing about tries to drag me to the bedroom! :o ;D
I'm actually looking to get a pole for the spare bedroom to practise with. I'm just unsure if my ceiling can hold it!
There's only one Ambyglam!
Am on forums with him. He's a lovely mover, the dirty trollop!
As soon as I get my pole shorts on my little tom cat is there. He likes to lie at the bottom of the pole and watch. I'm terrified I'll come down from a trick and land on him! My other half isn't interested in the slightest. He's so used to seeing me upside down now.
As long as it's not a suspended ceiling the X-Pole will be fine. I stick a board up under mine to ensure there's no marks on the ceiling from the silicone ring.
You probably already do bodywaves. I use them to warm up the spine in mobility phase in class. It's where you ripple all the way down your body and make it as flowing as possible.
Yeah, I'm so jealous of him! He's so bloomin' graceful on the pole!

I was having a look at this pole but not sure if it's suitable. It seems to be tension it's help by but then it's got a bit at the top that screws into the ceiling  It's half the price than an x-pole but if I'm spending the money I would rather spend more on something that's better quality.
I've been prancing about for the last while trying to pick a song but I love so much music I can seem to find the right track.
I've found what I will be wearing though :)
The only pole worth buying at the moment is the X-Pole. It costs more for a reason - it doesn't come down when you use it! It's the only one I recommend to any of my students and the only one I will use in classes. Well worth saving your pennies for, plus you have the added Spinny option which is the best fun ever!
I have just been chatting with Ambyglam and he's trying to work out which student you are!

:o. Read that as "He's a lovely lover, the dirty trollop!" Did a double take!
Haha!
We've gone to PM now!
Here's something I didn't think I would write on a forum...
My favourite 'pole dancing' song (at this moment in time) would be 'Fantasy' by Timbaland (Shock Value - Album).
**Disclaimer**
I've not visited a pole dancing establishment (though it's probably on a 'to do' list somewhere) just in case you were wondering what my top ten would be :D
LOL @ pole dancing 'establishment'.
I think you might have the wrong end of the polestick there. :p

I was just trying to convey the fact that I don't have a favourite track/tune/song for people to pole dance too as I've not frequented such a gentleman’s club where such pieces of equipment are often found :D
I purely () thought that the above track would be a fitting song for the purpose of performing to from an exercise standpoint as well as an enticing one for the intended audience member (I take it this is a sub reason for learning to pole dance :D).
Please do tell if I am digging myself into an ever increasing hole :o

I can't see the top of your head any more ;)
Is that Australia I see down there? ;)
Ok, ok.
Hi, my name is Zico and I'm a pole dancing addict.

Lol! I don't actually intend to become a professional in an "establishment". It's purely for exercise and isn't as easy as it looks! Though when I get a pole at home that might be for an audience member  ;)
I actually thought about asking those who had visited such places to put in what songs were played but I can't imagine people would pay that much attention when there is a scantily clad female in front of them! ;D

I still think Circus is perfect, it has a build up a main part, a consistent beat you can grind around to whenever etc... and a finish. Kinda makes me wanna pole dance :D

Now there's a mental image I could have done without. :p
_dogma_ - I've got to be honest and say I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but a few random songs from my playlist that may lend themselves to what you want: Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes, Propellorheads - A Little Bit Of History Repeating, Real Life - Send Me An Angel.
Well, I've done it. Got my certificate and everything so will be doing the next stage in two weeks. I was so nervous! I brought 2 odd shoes for the right foot so had to borrow someone elses and they were really slippy so nearly fell on my bum. I also forgot what I'd done and what I was still to do but managed to wing it for 3 minutes :D

Yay! Well done, wish I had the confidence to do something like that.:)
I just saw this. I realise I'm too late, but I would instantly recommend this track (http://www.boomspeed.com/bofh1968/boatdrinks/music.mp3). Mind you, the last pole dance I saw was in 1988 in Vancouver, Canada. Let's just say that the establishment didn't have too many males on the stage and not too many females in the audience...
Oh, and I wouldn't recommend clicking on that link if you're at work or parents/children are around. It's the unedited version of the song...
