View Full Version : It's one of those, "Does anybody else get..." threads
I've started waking up to the radio instead of a buzzer recently, and, it's weird. Simply because as the songs first come on, and I'm waking up, the songs sound *so* much better. Everything about the song playing seems clearer, sharper, better.
Probably something to do with the waking mind, flood of hormones, perhaps your audible perception is momentarily enhanced. Whatever the reason, it's ace. It gets me out of bed, and not only out of bed, but if it's a good song, it gets me out of bed strutting to the music. :D
I can hear the song some hours later and it's typically "bland" again in comparison.
Anybody else get the same?

Completely the opposite :) I kind of liked Lily Allen's new song, but having woken up twice to it on the radio I've completely been turned against it now  I hate getting up!
i usually get woken up by my little man building a tent in my bed, will give the music a whirl tho craigy ;D
Can't say I do, though whatever song wakes me up is often the one I have in my head for the rest of the day.
Last night I set the alarm on my phone and put it across the room so I'd have to get up to turn it off. I woke an hour after it was meant to go off with the phone under my pillow. Absolutely no memory of retrieving it.
Sort of.
I can still remember waking up one Saturday morning to Motorcycle Emptiness by the Manic Street Preachers and it still gives me a buzz when I hear it.
These days, the alarm on my phone is Insomnia by Faithless, perfect imo for getting me up in the morning :D

Normally being woken up by a song I love makes me turn against it and absolutely hate the guts out of it and who ever sings it. :p
I bought a semi decent radio alarm clock to replace my cheap one a few months ago. The cheap one was inaudible at any volume level required to stand a chance at waking me up in the morning. The current one is excellent in comparison and I can actually distinguish between it playing music and not just a loud noise as before.
In addition to the radio alarm I have my TV set to come on at the same time.
Last but not least I have my mobile as the third and final alarm playing Utah Saints - Something Good.
Unfortunately I am perfectly capable of either completely sleeping through all three and/or getting up in a day dream and turning them all onto snooze or turning them off altogether.

It's probably the same effect every morning when people are woken up by BBC Breakfast. It's all starts like wow, what's on the news! but quickly degenerates to the irritating 15 minute BBC loop of speculation and sensationalisation. Every day I wake up keen to hear the news and leave the flat keen to never have to hear it again.
I've never really used the radio but it tends to just get a song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Once I accidently left a Gza album in my CD player and it started off with one of those freaky martial arts movie clips, that really freaked me out.
I used to have real problems waking up - mainly due to very long days and stress meaning was sleep was both poor and minimal.
I resorted to using a PC alarm- It makes THE worlds most irritating, random, ever changing pitch and general ear-bummingly mean noise!
The icing on the cake, what made it rather effective, was that one would have to solve 5 complex mathmatical questions followed by the input of a long string of random numbers/characters to turn it off!
Any other alarms didn't tend to wake me; repeating buzz/beep noises I could get used to the rythmn and fall back asleep, radio I'd sleep through, even placing the alarm on the opposite side of the room wouldn't resolve it as I'd subconciously grab it, turn it off and go back to sleep!

Or just mash the off button/heave on the power cord. ;D
If I set an alarm, I'll usually either wake up before it or sleep right through it. In either case, the alarm doesn't really do its job, so I tend not to bother.
I rarely hear much more than half a word then Picky turns it off! The only routine thing I have at waking up is forcing my eyes to adjust for a milli second so I can see (briefly) a glimpse of Pickys bum whilst he's putting his boxers ;D
That's the best way to wake up IMO ;D

Does he sleep naked then?
Why am I even asking this question???
Rumour is he's just a flasher!
be prepared for a 'cheeky' wedding!
Hahaha! No! But he needs to change into new boxers in the morning though doesn't he! I therefore get to see the moon before I get to see the sun in the morning ;D

I'm definitely the same, that first song as you wake is always the best.

You wake up next to my ex?
