Doesn't really show much, but then teasers never do. All I need to know is that it's set in the modern age and it's made by Infinity Ward. I'm sold for those 2 reasons alone. :)

Same here Davey. If it's even half as good as COD4 then it's mine.

MW1 had such a gripping storyline. First game, since, err, Metal Gear Solid I think, that I was actually engrossed in what was happening and couldn't stop playing.

Infinity will do an ace job of this, I'm sure. :)

Yes, 10th November 2009 (assuming the date was given in the standard US format) :)

Definately a title I will pickup on release. Hopefully the supermarkets will be competitive on prices again.

It's that time of year, so I would assume so. It's an absolutely massive title and an almost guaranteed online number 1 over Xmas, so you'd expect Asda, Morrisons or Sainsburys to try and out trump one another.

I'm looking forward to the 30 quid price tag :D

COD4 was my first COD game and I loved it, so definitely looking forward to COD, er 4-2?

I'm glad that it's coming out before Christmas to give other games a bit of breathing room during the Christmas rush, as I'm pretty sure it will sell like hot cakes just on the name alone.

Call of Duty 1 is also coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade for those who didn't know.

Also, for the record, it's not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it's simply Modern Warfare 2. It looks like Call of Duty has been dropped due to an argument between Activision and Infinity Ward with the title of the franchise now belonging to Infinity Ward, it stops a different company picking up an old companies franchise which belongs to the publisher such as Championship Manager and Project Gotham Racing.

Unless i'm being slow that doesn't make sense.

Infinity Ward own the title franchise.
Infinity Ward are making this game.
Therefore they are dropping the name?

erm?

No. Activision own the name "Call of Duty".
Infinity Ward now own the title "Modern Warfare".

If Infinity Ward were to produce another "Call of Duty" game for another publisher they couldn't use the name "Call of Duty", as it's owned by Activision, not them.

It's happened with Eidos and Sports Interactive in the past for the most high profile case, after a less than amicable separation, Eidos kept the name "Championship Manager" as it was legally theirs, not the developers, so when Sports Interactive made their next game they used the name "Football Manager", which they own the name to. Infinity Ward have done the same thing.

You'd be surprised at just what Publishers own. Just because a developer makes the game doesn't mean they own everything to go along with it.

Oh, I thought you were referring to Call of Duty when you said "the title of the franchise now belonging to Infinity Ward" seeing as CoD is more of a franchise than MW is.

Oh no, I meant the title of the franchise now belonging to Infinity Ward (after being re-named to Modern Warfare). I did look at that earlier and think it would confuse someone.

It can be read both ways I think, it makes sense now you've explained :p

Albeit a very very short trailer :D

Is that why COD4 is rather better than COD5? Did the development team switch or something

leowyatt
11-05-2009, 14:57
Yes they did Zirax.

COD1 - Infinity Ward
COD2 - Infinity Ward
COD3 - Treyarch
COD4 - Infinity Ward
COD5 - Treyarch
COD6 - Infinity Ward

EDIT: Yeah it's kinda short, but I can't wait for the game :D
