I remembered this out of the blue the other day and thought I'd really like to play it again. I borrowed it for my PS1 about 9 years ago!!

Does anyone have this, as I've heard its now abandonware, but then this leaves the problem of finding a healthy full copy only to find it wont run under xp...
Has anyone else played it recently / got it working or anything?
Its really old school, but I'm in the need to re-live games gone by! :)

You should be able to run in 98 / ME / 2000 compatability mode if it doesnt work straight away.

Yup. I've got it.

Should run find under XP *doesn't under XP64 though iirc*

It's a great game though. Not as good as Syndicate or Syndicate: American Revolt - but still great.

Problem I have with it is that it runs really really fast on a modern PC, I think you have to use CPU limiter or somthing.

Even though I know no-one here cares and I'm no longer an OcUK Don, I still have the urge to point out that abandonware isn't legal :/ I don't particularly care myself, I guess old habits die hard :D

I used to regularly spout that at people who posted links to it on OcUK....

...while making notes of the URL's. :D

I'd never do anything like that! *cough*

I did however suspend McDaniel once for posting a link to a zip file of a porn star. When I sent him the email telling him he was suspended, I also asked him for more pictures :D

Lol that was what i instantly thought when I saw the mention of Abandonware :D
Still got some links saved from when Davey explained all about the various lawsuits to do with it.

Aye, the copyright laws around games were one of my specialities for a while. I've forgotten a bit now as I don't have the same need for the knowledge, but I still find it very interesting.

I've got several links that I know are legal - but would get deleted on OcUK by over zealous people...

Complete Team17 back catalogue anyone? :D

Syndicate Wars was stunning, still have the cd rom here somewhere. :D
Me and mates used to just chuck the all weapons cheat in, something about hearing that robotic woman say 'cataclysm' and 'satellite rain' made me smile ;)

Oh and btw, for abandonware www.abandonia.com ftw! \o/

I have found some awesome games whilst bored in some ****ty little hotel whilst abroad... yes I know they use the "ware" to make it sound legal, but I don't care - they don't sell those games anymore do they?

No, they don't.

However it is possible to find them on auction sites, so downloading isn't the only option. They usually cost more than you'd want to pay for a game that can be over 5 years old and isn't even gauranteed to run on a new system, though. And none of the money will go to the people who made the game.

It may be illegal, but I don't see it as much of a crime.
