I am learning the piano at the moment and need some material to play on, instead of the classical stuff I want to learn some pop, stuff like Alicia Keys, Vanessa Carlton…etc Except the obvious problem, costs ! I already have the CDs, but these music books for the album cost more than the CD, like twice as much!

Anyone knows any LEGAL avenue to get these books or sheet music. I have looked on ebay but they are no cheaper really than on Amazon. Also, is there a site where I can download sheet music for individual songs? I am unlikely going to play or like the whole album, as some songs are less Piano orientated, so it would be good to just get the sheet music for the particular song I like. Is there a site like that? Legal downloadable PDF for example.

Nope no cheap legal way, they cost a fortune, sorry i never replied to your text the other day too. None i've found anyway...

Grab me on MSN sometime when i'm around though, i think i've got enough lying around to keep you amused for a fair while! You've got a printer right :p?

Have you tried your local library? My local one seems to have loads of sheet music and it looked pretty varied :)

I use Sheet Music Direct (http://www.sheetmusicdirect.com) occasionally. They're not especially cheap (some older songs are £1, but most recent stuff is £3), but if you want an individual song rather than an album it's the place to go. They use a proprietory piece of software called Sibelius Scorch rather than PDF, but you can print out the score as normal. You get a free preview of the first page as well, which is good if the hardest part of the song to work out is at the beginning :)

Every pianist should have a copy of sibelius anyway :p
