View Full Version : *** Kreeeee's Custom Arcade Stick Thread ***
Got all my parts, but gremlinsolutions missed my green ball top and arcadeshop.de missed 1 vermillion button :(
Using the madcatz white ball top and black button as a substitute for now but they're both finished now!

Madcatz SE modded stick (currently missing a green ball top but the JLF is in there :( ) :
Components used:
8 Sanwa OBSF-30 Green buttons
1 JLF TP 8Y Stick (Or 8TY if you want the mounting plate)
(optional) Octagonal Gate Sanwa GT-Y
Philips #1 and medium flathead screw driver
Guide:

You need all the above items
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/5732/27201990.jpg
Unscrew these 6 screws and remove the metal plate
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/8382/34684918.jpg
Place your flat head screw driver into the centre screw in the joystick, then twist off the ball top on the top of the stick by hand. Then unscrew the 4 highlighted screws.
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1786/74548161.jpg
Pull out this cable, you may need to wiggle it slightly and pull firmly as it has a weak glue on it.
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/983/93865611.jpg
If you bought the stick with no mounting plate remove these 4 screws. If you damage them you can replace them with m3 machine screws or some motherboard screws like I have here (I snapped a screw :o).
http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5817/96551505.jpg
Pull off the rubber sheath from one of the buttons.
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2343/87778717.jpg
Pull on the metal Quick Disconnects to remove them. Do not pull the wire or wiggle the QD's too much.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/5308/26034994.jpg
Each button has 2 tabs. Squeeze them in by hand and push the button out. Use the flathead screwdriver if any tabs are hard to reach.
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/7948/81943676.jpg
Pop in your spanking new lime green button and replace the QD's and sheath, ensuring they are firmly reconnected. Repeat for all 8 buttons.

If you have a stick with no plate or want to attach an octagonal gate, remove the gate on your new stick by squeezing the 4 black tabs highlighted in blue and remove the gate. If you have no plate insert the 4 nuts from the original stick if you can remove them (Easily removed by screwing in a bolt part way through then pushing/pulling the bolt to remove them) or use m3 machine bolts if you prefer to or can't remove the old ones. Now simply clip on your square or octagonal gate.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3715/46641779.jpg
If you are using the original plate, screw in the 4 screws (Original, motherboard screws or m3 bolts) firmly.
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/6733/96870097.jpg
Screw the plate back onto the base, and reattach the dust cover and ball with the flat head screw driver on the centre screw and your hand on the ball top.

Screw on the metal back plate, and you're done! Hopefully your supplier didn't miss out your sexy green ball top though :(

CD-RW spindle for centre support :)
Works with MAME games?
There is a dismantled and soldered 360 pad in there so wherever the 360 pad works (PC and 360) the stick will work there. This stick was made for SFIV though :p
Updated the OP with the pad pics to clear things up a bit :)
Added a Madcatz SE mod guide, although I hate the daft 20 picture limit!
Cracking!! This may well be something that I do. It'll be great to get some classic gaming goodness :D
