View Full Version : Fallout: New Vegas announced
Bethesda has announced a brand new Fallout game, Fallout: New Vegas.
However, it won't be a sequel to Fallout 3. Fallout: New Vegas will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment and will be set in the same universe as Fallout 3 but it won't be a direct sequel. New Vegas will take place on the West coast of America, home of the first two Fallout games.
The tentative release date is in 2010, with more information due to be revealed at E3.
That's all we've learnt from now, courtesy of a garbled phone call from an excited Gillen who is at a Bethesda press event now, so feel free to speculate further on what Fallout: New Vegas might be. Have you got any ideas or anything from Fallout 3 you really want to see corrected?

Never played a Fallout game other than the Fallout Tactics demo I tried a few years back. Was enjoyable - what Fallout game should I start with to get into the series? Is it worth getting the older ones and playing through those or should I jump in at Fallout3?

None of them are reliant on you knowing the backstory from the previous games. Fallout 3 is probably more accessible than the others simply as it has a FPS control scheme and is not so heavy an RPG as the others. I'd recommend playing all of them though (assuming you can find the original two) as they're exceptional games.

Why Obsidian and not Bethesda? :(

So they can make a hash of it like they did KOTOR II? :p
As long as bloody Moria ain't in it, I DO WANT. :)

I loved Moira. My favourite character in the entire game.
Although I did like Harold before I burned him.

I think this sums up my views :D

You can get the original Fallout games from gog.com. It's where I got From Beneath A Steel Sky From. Awesome Site and totally legit.
EDIT: Bizzarly enough, they have a promo on fallout running - http://www.gog.com/en/page/fallout_promo/ $14.37 for fallout + fallout 2 + fallout tactics + heaps of other stuff. Might get it myself now.

I can't wait for this. Just a pity it's so far away. Just wonder if it'll be set around the same time as Fallout 3 (2277). Only wondering as i'd love to see a current Vegas wiped out by nukes, not literally like. :D
Trouble is, like Rainbow 6 games. It'll be an imaginary Vegas i guess. Don't think the owners of the hotels/casinos would appreciate seeing them in a game devastated by nukes.
