I thought that would get your attention.

Go to http://www.graze.com and use the coupon code PJWJLDNG to get a free box of munchies.

Bargain!

Nice concept, doesn't appeal though. Salad is fine, but with this there is just fruit and nuts :/ Couldn't replace a lunch for me.

Still it's free :)

I'm going to try this too - I'm curious to the size of the box / amount really.

If anything it might make me further aware of a few healthy snack options that my wallet doesn't risk buying in supermarket in case I don't like it :)

My first box has appeared and I have to say it's rather good. Very tasty, well presented and surprisingly filling.

It's easily enough to replace my lunch, and if I go out and buy a sarnie and a bag of crisps, I normally spend more than the cost of the box anyway.

So here you go - The old code has expired so there's a new one which has the same effect. PJWJLDNG gets you a free box of food!

I'm looking forward to recieving mine tomorrow- as my gf is a fuss arse with food and doesn't "like sandwiches" ... (remain calm - I know it's a brash and impossible statement but she's so cute we can let her off)... she ends up buying lunches mon-fri which works out expensive- or she doesn't eat which is even worse!

Hopefully if this is of a decent size she could have it delivered to her work every day whilst having something varied and healthy too! :D

Thats exactly what I get! I had a graze box yesterday. Apples, raisins and pistachios. Tried the pistachios but didn't like em. Rest was nice. I'm basically using it as a way to try new food. I went through their catalog of 137 products and liked 3. I marked off things I really don't want and the rest is things to try. Gunna get 1 box a week for now.

No more excuses. Done. Managed to prune out 90% of the stuff I know I won't like (dates, olives, cherries etc.). Limits the options I know but there's still plenty of stuff I've left on Try to see how it works out.

Booked the first one for Saturday. Would like to get them on workdays but as I work at home so much it's hard to predict where I'll be.

If you're worried about being home to recieve them, they fit through the letterbox according to their FAQ so no need for a signature.

Mark
23-04-2009, 22:41
That's why I'm getting it on Saturday. I won't answer the door immediately so I can see what happens (actually, it's still possible that I might not be in - depends how late postie is). If it works out, I'll leave stuff sent to home and use it the next day. :)

Works out at a similar price to what I'd normally spend on lunch (if not less), so why not.

My 2nd box comes tomorrow (Half price one, 1st was free).

It's good, tasty and the mixes are decent.

It's not good value for money.

If it was £1.99 delivered I would probably get 1 box a week for the convenience of it.

Jingo
24-04-2009, 09:44
It's not good value for money.

What makes you say this Windle? :)

On quick comparison between Tesco and with what I have recieved this morning, I would say it is good value for money:

I recieved 6 long slices of fresh pineapple, A packet of japanese rice crackers and a small punnet of dried blackcurrants (+bamboo fork!)- delivered to my door for £3. (free this time but you understand what I mean ;))

At tescos, the fresh salad/fruit area sells the following:

- Tesco Fresh Pineapple Grab Pack (3-4 slices) - 90p.
- Japanese Cracker Mix (same portion size) - £1.09.
- Whole dried blackcurrants - unavailable from tesco - quick price search reports back £9.95 for 60g. As this small snack pack is about ~10g we can roughly translate that as ~£1.60.

Totalling £3.59: plus travelling to shop, time, faffing with lunchboxes/spoons etc etc.

For a different selection of 180+ healthy fresh snacks to be delivered to your choice of home / work - I'd say £3 on the breakdown is very reasonable for Graze :)

I'm munching on my first box today; Goji Berry Salad, Dried Morello Cherries and Fresh Grapefruit and Orange.

This is great, I'm rubbish at fruit, I think its preparing it more than eating it, if fruit came in a wrapper out of a vending machine ready to eat I'd eat it every day and this is the next best thing, I just dig into my pre preped orange and grapefruit with the supplied fork rather than have to go and peel it, pick off all the pith and get sticky juice everywhere. I'm loving this concept and despite the cost it will up my fruit intake and make me healthier and thats worth the investment :)

Will nom the orange slices later and give dried cranberries a go. They've sent me grapefruit which I think I've tried before and didn't enjoy, so I'll skip that one and give it to the bin. Apart from that it's great. Presentation is nice and the napkin and fork is a nice touch. I'll probably refine by box a bit more and get 2-3 a week. Excellent idea really. :)

Mark
28-04-2009, 12:01
Yup - most likely true. I'm sure it's gone a bit bonkers for them.

Graze stuff keeps OK. All the 'punnets' have use by dates stamped on them (usually fresh fruit is day of receipt for obvious reasons).

They suggest not putting them in the fridge, but there's probably no harm in doing so for a day or so.

OK, you've all convinced me this is a good idea. I take this sort of thing to work anyway so it could be a nice way of trying some new bits and pieces. Kitten
28-04-2009, 20:35
hhmmm. Bear in mind too it won't be chilled if it sits on your doormat all day, so if you have the fresh fruit option it might not fare too well. Can you butter eddie up (not literally!) to take delivery then go get it from him? Or put a colleague's name on it then they'll get the blame ;D

I'm not too worried about the fruit if it's sealed. I have fruit cups in the cupboard that have never even heard of the fridge!

Really on the fence with this one, but I'm erring towards home delivery Sat/Tues/Thurs for eating on Mon/Weds/Fri. It all looks very delicious.

Mark
28-04-2009, 22:27
From reading their FAQs, it's water sealed, but not air sealed. Air sealing requires the fruit to be treated or placed in liquid - otherwise gases build up and speed up the 'ripening' process.

I'm in the same frame of mind - do I trust deliveries to Mr. Post person? It's a non-issue this week because I'm working from home, but my post doesn't turn up until gone 1PM.

I think fruit cups are different though, they're not strictly fresh fruit are they? If you buy the little trays from tesco, like the ones you get in these packs, they have to be kept refrigerated. I get fruit pots from Tesco/wherever and they don't need to be chilled. Not sure what the difference is, but the graze ones are definitely the fresher type. Still, don't think a few hours will make much difference :)

Don't worry, you'll still get a box on Tuesday - it'll be a special bank holiday box, without fresh fruit so it'll last longer in the post, and with four punnets instead of three

I emailed them asking them to untick Peanuts for me and received this.

Hi Feek,

Sorry to hear you receive peanuts!

We've actually had a lot of feedback like yours from grazers wanting to make sure they never receive specific ingredients of our mixes, so we've made it really easy to rate everything in our range which contains a particular food, e.g. peanut:-

Everything containing peanut - http://www.graze.com/products/ingredient/peanuts

This link works for everything you might want to 'bin' simply by changing 'peanuts' to say, 'strawberries' or 'chocolate' or even 'honey' or 'yoghurt' (make sure you're logged in). You've actually managed to bin all peanuts now, so we hope you enjoy your peanut free boxes from now on!

We'll also send you your next half price since you couldn't enjoy all of your box yesterday.

Lots of love and kisses,

Hannah

Someone at work had blackcurrents delivered on two consecutive days, she didn't complain about it but she had an email apologising for it and telling her that her next box would be free.

They're trying really hard, I hope they succeed as I think it's a great service. I've not eaten so much fruit for months :)

Mark
29-04-2009, 22:24
You can also click on an item, then the link in the ingredients list. You end up at the page for that ingredient and can bin the lot.

I used that technique to bin plums and cherries, and yoghurt.

Didn't eat my box from today. Saving it for the office tomorrow (fresh fruit went straight in the fridge and we'll see if that works out OK).

Not sure about value for money, quantities seem very small, I can get a lot of fruit and nuts for £3 at my local grocers, albeit perhaps not as exotic as some of the graze offerings. And for me £3 is a lot considering I try to budget on average <£4 per day on food.

A lot of packaging, and while clearly going to great lengths to state it's all recycled/recyclable/biodegradable, it's still something that makes me a bit uneasy.

Undecided whether to get a second box next week at the reduced rate, probably not.

I think thats perfectly understandable; for me its a boon because I'm lazy and I wouldn't go and get fresh fruit I'd be more likely to go and buy a chocolate bar than go to the shop. Effectively its for people with more money than motivation, yeah thats probably me .

Yesterday's box: Fresh pineapple, japanese rice crackers, macadamia nuts.

It all went down very well (better than the first box in fact) and eating it the day after receiving it made no noticeable difference whatsoever (I did put the fresh pineapple in the fridge overnight).

Getting my third box tomorrow.

My box has arrived. I like the little touches such as the plastic banding around the box being glued together with a small flap that you can pull to rip meaning that I don't have to go hunting through my desk for a knife or scissors to open it.

The pineapple looks rather scrummy! I shall report back after luncheon.

I have to say yesterdays Pineapple was some of the best I have had here in the UK, these guys seem to have found an excellent buyer to source their fruit for the day.

I found Goji berries very nice and have a tub of them coming today :)

It really is as fresh as it gets with them (except of course buying direct yourself which might get boring very quickly). I just hope they don't get big quicker than they can handle and lose the plot.

I forsee a contraction in output but a raise in profitability on the very near horizon so I think we'll be OK. If they can get all these free boxes out then they will be fine for a good while.

Apple doesn't normally come with a sleve and fork, at least mine hasn't the twice I've had apple.

Mark
01-05-2009, 11:04
Correct. If you read the print on the front of the apple punnet you'll find that they say they've improved things so they don't need the sleeve any more.

As for the fork, also correct. I didn't get one either which was fine with me (Apple doesn't tend to get too sticky).

As we all know Apple browns very quickly when cut, so they treat it. Mine was a little browner than what I'd get from the supermarket but they're packed differently.

I nommed my way through my first box today:

- Fresh pineapple. Lovely! Juicy & sweet.
- Goji berry salad. Dried goji berries, walnut & pumpkin seed. I'm still not keen on walnuts but the goji berries were really nice. Hard to describe but the initial taste is almost like black tea.
- Dried cranberries. Very, very nice. They say on their website that most dried cranberries are dried after they have been pressed for juice but theirs aren't. I can well believe it.

When I opened the box I thought to myself that I would be peckish after finishing, but no, it was very filling.

iCraig
01-05-2009, 15:37
It's surprisingly filling isn't it? Mine popped through the letterbox bang on at lunch so I just ate it all in one go and was quite content with it, might have been the extra handful of nuts I had:

I e-mailed to let them know that the box of pistachios was a little full and had pressed on the seal and forced it open slightly. It wasn't a complaint, I was greatful for the generous helping, just thought I'd let them know. They e-mailed back saying my next box will be free. I really wasn't after a free box, I just thought a bit of feedback would give them a heads up they might be overfilling on certain orders (might point to a problem with the filling machine or whatever) and feedback is golddust when running a business IMO. I hope they don't run themselves out of business by being so generous, they've just lost £2.99 from me on my next box which I was fully prepared to pay for. Won't make a difference on just my box, but if they're sending free ones out like nobody's business you wonder if they'll recover ok?

Burble
01-05-2009, 15:44
I'm sure they won't continue dishing out free boxes for long, but equally I assume it is all part of their business plan and that the funding is in place.

It's the convenience that interested me initially. I frequently don't bother stopping for lunch because I don't have time to go get anything and I'm hopeless at preparing stuff in advance.

I'm less likely to have these delivered on days when I am in the office because then I'll be even less inclined than I am not to get away from my desk or indeed the office for a while.

iCraig
01-05-2009, 17:14

Hmm. I seem to have a variation on the 'Ingredients I don't like' problem. If they add new mixes containing something you don't like, how do you prevent it being sent?

I wonder how my grapes are doing, sitting in a depo somewhere :(

I told them and they refunded me 1.50. I then said I couldn't really keep the order going if it was likely to happen often, as there's really no point in ordering then having to go and buy lunch anyway. They haven't responded to that as yet and that was about 3pm yesterday.

apart from the fact I'm not in now for 9 days, it's not really the point to be honest. As of 12:00 today it still hadn't arrived.

They failed to deliver on the day I paid for. I wasn't able to 'graze' at all and it cost me more money to go out and buy food. That's the point. It's a 50% failure rate really, for me.

My bank holiday box is nut heavy to say the least! Fajita nut mix, macadamias and Americas nut mix! I've now eliminated all the standard nut options as they're all available in the mixes and I'd rather not have a whole pack full of one type. It's great how you can modify it as you go - makes you realise exactly what you do and don't like because they'll just force it on you otherwise!

Graze.com. Harsh. Harsh, but fair.

Mark
05-05-2009, 23:07
The nut mixes tend to come in the medium punnets, and the single nut only options come in the small punnets, so it isn't really a problem. I had the Americas nut mix last week and it was good.

I've continued to have 2 boxes a week with no problems, however, yesterday's pineapple didn't come with a sleeve and ended up leaking sticky (but nice smelling) juice all over everything. The bamboo fork was also broken so sticky hands at lunchtime weren't great.

I was having a look at how they prepare their fresh stuff and although they don't add any presevatives etc., they do wash it in water with added vitamins/minerals to keep as fresh as possible. They also put a damp pad in (they did with my pineapple) to absorb any excess moisture from the fresh stuff, which has a very finely perforated lid. I sent them a message on twitter (not a direct message, just a public one) asking if it was possible to choose what you were going to receive in your box and within about 15 minutes they'd replied saying that they're working on lots more ways for you to control what you receive.

That pleases me in 2 different ways. I like the idea of being able to look at something they sell and think 'ooh that looks nice' and then be able to nom it a couple of days later but also I like that they bothered to reply.

You can choose what sort of thing you receive (i.e. always fresh fruit), but it would be fantastic if you could actually choose. Might be a bit risky though (for them) as they buy all their fresh stuff the day they send it out.

Tried to be cool this morning and emptied the whole Macadamia nuts pennet into my mouth whilst in the office. Naturally I choked and the stuff went out everywhere :o

I want to try the bakewell tart mix so I've set it to 'love' and in my preferences asked them to send me more of the stuff I've set to like/love.

As that's the only think I've set to 'love' (everything else is 'bin' or 'try') I'm wondering if it'll work!

It worked. My box today is red grapes, bakewell tart mix and wasabi peanut crackers.

Red grapes, Korean chilli rice crackers and yoghurt-covered apricots. Lush! Arrived Saturday and has kept fine in the fridge for three days.

The box I had on Friday was really nice but I've told them to not send me grapes in future. Not because they weren't nice but because I much prefer grapes that have been kept in the fridge - I find they taste better when chilled.

Mark

I concur on the grapes (when my fridge is working anyway), but at least if Graze send me them they get eaten (I have been known to forget :o)

Thursday's box still hasn't arrived yet. I'd be cancelling if I didn't have two free boxes to come!

Does your postman spend a lot of his time burping and licking his lips?

Kitten

well... as it's not my postman (it goes to work) I wouldn't know :). And it's a little unlikely, as they always turn up....eventually.

My bank holiday box turned up today. Crazy Raisen Mix was teh main pennet followed by a hazelnut, and a fire nuts pennet. Not the best combo, but fire nuts rule!

Well, I've now had 16 successful deliveries. The 17th didn't turn up. :(

Not a bad run rate, I guess, and reporting it 'gone AWOL' was suitably painless.

Changed the date to Wednesday as last time, the Wednesday day box turned up no problems. And guess what, it still hasn't turned up ;D

Last Thursday's turned up on Monday so again i had to bin the fruit and I've only just finished the nuts :p It's so weird!!

Mark

I can't remember and I'm sure you've answered this before - does other post generally turn up next day? I wonder if it's being held up in your post room for some reason.

PS - it was my Wednesday box that didn't turn up.

Kitten
05-06-2009, 12:15
no it doesn't, it's a Home Office site and no post is kept anywhere, as soon as it arrives it is brought straight to the addressee. Mine turned up this morning but the 'cherries' were actually grapes. :p

I'm going to have it sent home, although it won't be same day, it isn't anyway, so we'll see what happens. They've been very good about it though.

Mark
05-06-2009, 12:21
They're probably sending them all away for testing. 'This box rattles, must be dangerous'. :)

Kitten

nah, goes through an xray machine when it arrives! Plus mine has an exemption thing on it so they just ring me when it turns up.

I've just had the first thing come through that I didn't like (apart from the mistake with the nuts); Raisins infused with orange juice, yuck.

Burble
11-06-2009, 12:34
I really liked them, I got them a couple of weeks ago as part of the 'crazy raisin mix' which is them along with pineapple and cranberry juice infused raisins.

I don't believe them when they say that they don't use any preservatives. Last Friday I was off work but forgot to cancel my box so ended up having it for lunch on Monday. The fresh fruit in the box was apple which when I opened it in Monday wasn't brown in the slightest. Ok, so I'd put the box in the fridge when I got home on Saturday but the apples were cut on Thursday and eaten on Monday. There must be some sort of preservative used because the container for the apples isn't air tight - I could smell apple when I opened the main box.

Will
11-06-2009, 12:54
Not really filling though - although it's delicious, the pineappleOMG!!!! And I like the chilli nuts lots and lots, it really didn't satiate my appetite - though I was grazing on it I still needed my big meaty lunches in between grazing! :o

Mark
11-06-2009, 12:59
Will, you do have an above-average calorie intake though (for obvious reasons), so that isn't really surprising.

Burble, the big 'punnets' aren't airtight. Brushing the apples with an anti-oxidant solution (e.g. Vitamin C) will slow the browning process. If you define that as a preservative, then yes, you're right. It's still natural though which I think is their point.

Burble
11-06-2009, 13:02
But would it slow it down to the point where an apple cut on Thursday would not be brown in any way on Monday? Sorry, I'm not at all convinced.

Kitten
11-06-2009, 13:23
my apple was completely brown by the time I got it 2 days late. Inedible :(

In other news, Wednesday's box arrived on....WEDNESDAY \o/

I can highly recommend the pina colada mix - dried pineapple and banana, and coconut flakes. Very chewy, very flavoursome and does indeed taste like a pina colada! Got that today with fresh cherries and chilli cashews. Nyom.

Mark
11-06-2009, 16:50
I've had that. It's taking me a while to 'adapt' to dried fruit, but I'm getting there. I have to say that banana coins smell rather, er, interesting. :)

Kitten
11-06-2009, 18:49
ack i binned them immediately. Yuck.

The sweet as a nut selection is really nice. Loving the fire nuts.

Belmit
11-06-2009, 19:51
Banana coins on their own smell like ass and don't taste much better. With other stuff though they come into their own.

Feel free to add your own innuendo to this description.

Well, my Graze deliveries have gone belly-up. I'm 0-2 this week. I stopped the third delivery until the first two turn up, then I'll decide what to do.

Graze, to their credit, refunded both. This postal situation must seriously be hurting their bottom line.

Burble
10-09-2009, 15:01
I've stopped mine completely as I was getting fed up with my Friday lunch arriving on Monday morning.

Mark
10-09-2009, 15:19
Up to this week I've only had one failure out of about 30 deliveries, but the whole lot has gone to hell this week - everything is arriving several days late.

leowyatt

I think Kitten did the same they just didn't arrive on time anymore so she stopped it.

Mark
10-09-2009, 19:22
I'm prepared to give it another go but if this continues I'll have to do the same.

They've started offering boxes without fresh fruit but what's the point of that? The fresh fruit is the best bit.

Jingo
11-09-2009, 11:53
I had one box not arrive AT ALL in the last fortnight and now today's has failed to show up.

I found it annoying they decided to 'half-refund' the one that went missing; I responded saying if I ordered a DVD from amazon and it never arrived then I would certainly not be happy with recieving half of my money back, although I understand postal losses are not always directly their fault.

I'm emailing them now to let them know another has gone astray and see what they say, however, things aren't looking bright for graze :(

Rich_L
11-09-2009, 11:55
I don't think it's their fault tbh, the post is chaos at the moment, although it hasn't been publicised that much

Jingo
11-09-2009, 12:04
I do feel sorry for them on the matter, but at the same time, my other mail & deliveries are arriving every day, on schedule as usual.

I understand alot of this is probably out of their hands, but when you pay for a service on a specified day, it's not on if you fail to receive it on numerous occaisions.

Mark
11-09-2009, 12:25
Jingo, go back to the page where you reported the first one late and report it again. You should get a full refund, not a half refund. Both my no shows this week got full refunds. The system does work - they give a half refund if the box is one day late (to cover the fresh fruit), and a full refund if it is two or more days late (or a complete no show).

I also note that they've given up fighting the postal strike and have decided not to send fresh fruit out at all. Anyone who specifically wants the fresh fruit should either cancel their boxes or set a holiday. We may be in for the long haul on this one. :(

My post is now running consistently at three days late - two items posted Monday just arrived (including one of the missing Graze boxes - fresh fruit not in good shape, as expected - though it's grapes which I already have in the fridge).
