Just noticed something on off peak travel
Chelmsford to Liverpool street - £13
Chelmsford to Windsor- £13.25
Chelmsford to Kings X - £15.20

Now, if I get a ticket to Windsor that comes with underground..... could I get off at Knigs X? Would the ticket work to get me through the barriers? Just an odd observation that I noticed the other day. Has anyone tried this before?

Seeing how it's cheaper for me to go to Gatwick Airport then it is to go to Bluewater from Maidstone... probably :p

you can probably ask to get through at the barriers if it won't let you out on it's own.

I sometimes get an open return from Gravesend to Fareham, and then on the return journey I get back on at Fratton or Guildford.

If there is a direct route from the platform to the underground without passing the barriers (and I don't recall one), then there's a slim chance you might run into a problem. Otherwise, yes, you'll be able to get through the train platform barriers.

Don't try the underground barriers though as I doubt you'll be able to get out at the other end. Penalty fare time.

It would probably take your ticket at Kings X and you wouldn't be able to get back on the line.

If I were to get off at Kings X I would use my Travelcard, or you could just flash your Gold card (if you have one ;))
