Bought a DS Lite for Jodie to play with while in hospital but thought i'd give it a go tonight and see if i could play online. I have a Zyxel Prestige 660HW which matches the ZyXEL Telefonica Prestige 660HW 61 on the compatible routers list but just can't get it connected. I've tried it initially with my current settings but have dropped it down to un-encrypted, no mac filtering, dhcp, visible SSID but it still won't connect. It did see the network when the SSID wasn't hidden though. Always get Error Code: 51300. Any ideas?

Still having a complete mare with this, 51300 is apparently a WEP issue but i get it even with WEP disabled. There must be something wrong with my router is all i can think as i have had the gameboy replaced today due to a dead pixel and it still does it :(. I have a nintendo usb wireless thingy too and that doesn't work either.

Can anyone recommend a good router which works with a DS?

Seems these things can just suddenly decide to work (or not), which isn't good news for you.

Worth checking that the router can accept 802.11b connections (many routers have options for b, g, or both), but it seems you've done the rest (SSID, MAC, WEP). May be worth power cycling the router as well to make sure.

No option to select b or g.

I'm looking at new ones now though, performance wise it's become unusable when downloading torrents and the wireless was pretty flakey on it to begin with anyway. Just trying to find something which is very robust with being on continuously and lots of traffic passing through.

I'm using a SOHO-class router (Draytek), so not exactly the best person to ask about routers. Taken everything I can throw at it though (high-bandwidth wireless, torrents, etc.)

Is that an ADSL router (I'm too lazy to google)? I had good results using the Netgear DG834G at my parents place but try as I might I couldn't get it to work at all with the Belkin piece-of-crap that one of the minions installed at work.

Yup, it's ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+, so quite a recent model.

It would be nice if Nintendo could update the DS to support at least WPA :/

Sure would. I'm not lowering my wireless security for anyone, Nintendo included, though I do have a few wireless USB dongles that I might be able to coax around that. If I owned a DS of course (which I don't).

I get the DS online by Ad-hoc'ing to the Mac Mini. When I'm not using it I turn off the Airport card. Not ideal, but it works.

That's a good point. I forgot about the Mac Mini that's sitting 18 inches from me. :embarassed:
