View Full Version : iPhone Apps?
What are the 'have to have' iPhone apps?
so far i've installed; paper toss, tweet deck, facebook, flight control, google mobile app.
what else is out there (preferably free)... although obviously i paid 59p for flight control immediately after activating my phone..
Do you use google calendar? If so, Calendargoo is a really good one. I've got..ebay, iMapMyRun, Stanza for books and a couple of ebooks, Brain Train, Blogwrite, flickr sendr, bubble wrap, CatchaMouse, Clock3D, Crash Kart (crash bandicoot), Flixter, ICHCB, iDracula, ifooty, inside xbox, ipint, itraffic, lolcats, loldogs, PBJTime, Plasma ball, radio, shazam, sheepstacker, sudoku, tap tap revenge, tetris. tiki, topple, the weather channel, tweetie (although I use tweetdeck atm), Remember the milk, wimbledon, pac-man, around me, sky news, sims3, camera, ilistthings (ebay app), 3d coaster, zombies, stonelite, coolfacts. Just a few ;D
Flight Control (which you already have) & Parachute Panic :D
Tweetie is my twitter app of choice if you use that.
Another vote for Tweetie :)
I'd also recommend iRail if you use trains regularly. I've got 3 pages full of apps but most of them are games I've reviewed and not many of them would I hugely recommend :o Except for the obvious Peggle ;)
I've started using the Skynews app too which is quite handy. I'd much prefer if there was a reliable BBC news app, but while there isn't a good one, this one's quite handy.
Tube Deluxe is fantastic and well worth the 59p if you use the London Underground.
I used tweetie for a while but find tweetdeck so much better and easier to use (I use tweetie on my laptop but TD on my iphone)

I'm addicted to Crash Kart :p
The lightsaber is cool... especially when drunk I've found ;D
got jelly car this afternoon - pretty good fun.
currently want something that will sync my contacts with facebook. found some apps, but none free :( need to see which ones best and i might just pay for it. will be good to get images with my contacts, plus the few extra details it can pull down

There is a nice app on the G1 that does that :)
ha, well if i believed apple, then theres is an app for just about anything :p
I downloaded Rolando Lite this morning and am pretty much hooked on it, no doubt I'll get the full version and probably Rolando 2 in the not too distant future.
My iPhone game of the week is Star Defense.
Sega Columns Deluxe is free for this weekend only so might be worth a look :)
Games wise, I'd also recommend Rise of Lost Empires (it's like Warcraft 2 :D) and Emerency Dangerous: Fire Fighter which is quite addictive fun.
So I now have Sudoku, UnblockMe, Shazam, Wikipanion, TweetDeck, Flight Control, Topple, Facebook, Google Apps thingy and Ragdoll Blaster.
Any more recommendations? :)
TwitVid, TVGuide, Flixster, Aroundme
Parachute Panic, Pinball Fantasies
Another vote for Tweetie :)

I use BBCReader - seems perfect?

The BlackBerry Facebook app has this functionality built in - I wonder why iPhone doesnt have it yet?

Doesn't it just open pages in Safari though? I can do that myself :D
Well yeah, but it gives you a list of the headlines etc first for you to flick through, and it also caches all of the indexed stories so you dont have to be online to read them.
I'll stick with Skynews then, much better app as it keeps everything within itself. And I need a dose of sensationalist headlines every once in a while for a laugh :D

Harbour Master.. It's virtually the same as flight control, but with extra features \0/
Ragdoll Blaster.
This is amusing ;D
Ragdoll Blaster is awesome....I play it just for the music :)

I've got that too ;)
The controls are taking a bit of getting used to!
anybody know of a decent Flickr app?
I've got that too ;)

Yeah, seems a bit slow and clunky. Was going to ask if you wanted it as I have it available for download :p
Apparently once you get used to it it works very well. Shame it's taking me ages to get used to it!
There's a way around getting used to it (though I will try to), I just found out that if you swipe the screen with 2 fingers it'll switch back to the 'classic' view (including music). So it'll go from this:

How much space does the average app consume?

Most apps I use tend to me a few MB in size, but the games can obviously get a lot bigger, with Worms weighing in at 75MB.
Money Island is around a 350Mb download
Obviously things like Navigon/TomTom can be huge because of the maps but as Davey says, most of the regular apps are in the low Mb's.
