So it took me around 25 minutes to get there this morning & I was first there, I paid my 20 quid & told the Dude that I would be taking it easy as I had just got the Landy 2 weeks ago, Sure he said Enjoy yourself. :)
I wandered off around some rutts which the Landy took in it's stride & then I came across this BIG hole full of muddy water, Without hesitation I dropped in, :D Got a part way across it & me Landy died. :(
The Landy filled up with water up to my seat/knees it was Ace. :p This is me standing/crouching on the seat to get my batty out the water. :D

We seem to have had a small leak in the back as well. :D
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9907/offroad002.jpg (http://img218.imageshack.us/i/offroad002.jpg/)
This was the view out my window which I climbed out of & on to the wing, Then the bonnet, I slung a line across & hooked up the winch off the disco bottom shot & they dragged me out. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Not so fast !!! I turned the engine over & it just locked up.
So I tells the dudes I know **** all about Landys & they advised me, In short I popped the glow plugs out & turned it over shooting water out the head, Then I took the pipes off & drained the water out, The bottom of the cvooler was at such an angle the water was trapped. I had to take a pipe off the motor & use it as a straw sucking the muddy water into my mouth & spitting it out. :D + :p (You may have to read that again to take that in :D)
So just as I was putting her back together my mates turned up Laughing. :p
I cranked her over & she started first ******** time for ***** sake.
So I let her tick over & then got back to it, Had a good few hours in the rutts & wandering around the site, Kin Perfect day.
I learnt a Heck of a lot today & came back Beaming.

All in all a Fantastic day Off roading, I tested myself & my Landy to the point of Fail, I learnt a lot about my Landy & how to fix it & we bonded. When she fired up again for me it was like a Marriage. :p

Took me 7 minutes to find that hole, Fly in to it & kill the Landy. ;D About 40 minutes to sort the Landy & get it going again. :D
I'll be sorting the snorkel out Myself this week & tackling the pit of death as soon as I arrive next time. I'll kick me mate out to get some vid footage.

That's really good Malc, I had a couple of hours in a landy round a course somewhere in Kent a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it, didn't get stuck anywhere though but that's only because there was some big bastard aussie in the passenger seat telling me what to do!

Looking good mate.

So is that an off roading centre then?

Please tell me that you drained the water out Jeremy Clarkson Africa style :p

Saw a big, raised 4x4 drive past us as we were at the park with the kids today, it looked like it had been having fun. You couldn't see any paintwork clear of mud and even the side and back windows were smothered!

**** me, £20 for a day of motoring fun* Puts the cost of the Sprints and Track days I used to do into perspective :(

*Yes I know there were other associated costs but compared to £60-80 for a Sprint and £150-200 for a Track day.......

Mate, do yourself a favor and do an oil change on the engine, tranny, transfer case and differentials. If it went in deep enough for it to hydrolock, it went in deep enough to get water in everything else.

You can try checking the fluids before draining them to see if the age old chocolate milkshake in there. If no milkshake, you're probably good to go. But I'd still look carefully. Having any of those items run with a lack of lube can get expensive real quick.

Looks like you had a good time. I'm envious (again). I spent today rebuilding my locking hubs.

I'll be doing a Full fluid change today mate, Checking the oil as I take it out to see how effective my breathers were, Also I am going to completely rebuild my Snorkel.
Now I've been off road in her I can go over it & sort it properly my style.

Good to hear, bud. I'd hate for it to give you fits over what amounts to basically a couple quarts of gear oil or something like that.

Well if you do what we do in our Motors you Have to stay on top of maintenance.
I'll also be putting on my road slippers today so I can do some road miles in her before the next big off road day.

Most people have no idea the stresses we put 4X4's under when we go play. LOL

I tend to bend parts on large rocks, sounds like you get things dirty in places no car should ever have dirt.

Hosed her out with clean water Sunday afternoon, Checked & topped up my diff/gearbox/transfer box oils, They were ok with no signs of any water so the breathers are sweet.
I completely stripped out the snorkel & then I inserted piping that runs inside the other & then up & through the wing & sleeves inside the snorkel tubes. I'm pretty happy with it for now but I am going to improve on it before I do another Big swim. I think I can get better more reinforced pipe & the sleeve over that with summit like a rubber dobba.
I've stuck my road slippers on & factory wheels as I plan on a few road trips over the next week or so. Totally different drive now with smoother running & higher cruising speeds with less noise & I should get a few more MPG on my runs as well.

Factory spec. :D
