And it's ridiculous ;D
Night Vision Goggles
No price seems to have been announced yet, guessing it's going to be rather expensive.

just watched it so missed your edit.
Night vision goggles? I'm sold ;D
At risk of NokkonWud calling me 'negative nancy' or something, it's not called Call of Duty any more is it?
Night vision goggles are pretty epic, I can see that weighing in at a lot of money :D
Why just why? I can understand a figurine as they can be quite cool. Even the metal tin you have to question as it will sit on your shelf just the same as the normal version. Not unless they are going to be putting in some DLC for free in the more expensive versions? But even then the DLC you could just get separately.
Iirc the Call of Duty name got added to the title again the other day. Sure I remember reading a news story. Don't really care either way as everyone knows what I'm talking about and I've yet to see anyone other than a Press Release call it Modern Warfare 2 :p
Bit like RE5 when the 'zombies' were infected, they still got called zombies even by the PR guys ;D

Plus you got COD1 as well :)
Ahh, http://img197.yfrog.com/i/ia1n.jpg/ was where I saw it called CoD :D
Ah I see. I suspect they were too worried about people not knowing wtf it was :p
edit = quick look around and the cheapest NVGs I can see are about £270 - this is going to be one expensive collectors edition unless Activision take a massive hit on each unit!
I'll admit right now, I'd be tempted. I'd be like the Terminator. Driving around with nightvision but with no lights on (does it work, if there's enough twilight?)
Imagine the possibilities of having a proper pair of NVG. ;D

I'd be very interested depending on the price of them. I'll have the game on pre-order soon enough, but whether I get the standard, collectors,or prestige edition depends on how much they all are.

rumours are according to the comments $150
$150 is exceptionally cheap for night vision goggles! I'll be surprised if that's true.
Wonder how good those Night Visions are though, have to say I'm tempted just for the coolness factor, though in reality I'll probably just buy the special edition version that comes with the code for CoD1
oh i remember now.... at 4am i was walking home from town, and saw this on my twitter feed. had planned to watch it when i got in, evidently i was more interested in sleeping!
lets see then.. that top edition looks amazing, but i'll probably end up with the hardened edition.
I've seen chatter that this edition might not make it to the UK, as the law here isn't quite so free about night vision equipment. Not sure how true this is.

Yes it is :p. They've added it back on.
We've been through that, keep up :p

I can see the legalities of night vision goggles being a problem admittedly.

I hope that isn't true divine :(
I'm unsure about the legality of night vision equipment in the UK ; I have friends who use night vision equipment for hunting purposes and they didn't require licencing or similar for the purchase of their scopes/goggles.
However, I'm inclined to agree with Divine and Haly that it may well be something of a grey area that may not lend itself to 'freebie toys' etc.

Looks like a suggested price of $149. Bet that means if the UK gets night vision goggles, it's £149 here :/
£149 would be very cheap, which suggests the night vision is just gonna be cheap tat that works for about 5m at most.

I got the impression from the sound it made as he switched across the different 'modes' that its cheap tat

Of course it's going to be liek that. Why would they make the decent stuff that costs hundreds when all the general public will want is the crap "IR" vision found on camera.
I'll wait for the reviews first but I'm tempted boys and girls.... :p
I'm expecting them to be similar to these

Soapy McTavish eh ;)
The Hardened edition is now up on Shopto - for £65!! crazy money.
I think i'll stick with my preorder on the standard version, got the special edition last time and it wasn't really worth the extra, in this case £20.

Pre-ordered. Don't think I'll be able to afford it come the time, but nice to have the pre-order there if I can :p.
I'll pass. I'll most likely wait till MW2 is released and get it wherever it's cheapest then.

I generally buy the top editions of games. I did for Halo 3 too. Only one where I didn't was Bioshock (sold out).
Going to cancel my pre-order of the regular version and get the hardened version, I want the CoD1 code :D
Yeah I wish :(
Do enough overtime to buy me a pole and then you can do enough overtime to buy silly priced games :p

that would be amazing!!
Nothing like milking a cash cow ;D
I'd be interested to see how that worked if it was a gun without the game being like Time Crisis.
I suspect it's more likely to just be a 'normal' controller with MW2 branding though.

welcome to the guitar hero/rock band franchise :p
aye, it wont turn out like a gun i'm sure, but it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Considering both CoD and GH are Activision, yup! I think they're getting worse than EA of late.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/richyj/MW2ControllerMockUp.jpg
I was bored so I made a mock up of what I think is a more likely outcome than an actual gun style controller. The twitter doesn't imply a gun at all, just the articles own picture and excitement.
I suspect it's probably more likely a custom controller though that will work with PS3 and 360 and be identical on both, hence questions about concave (360 style) or convex (PS3 style).
NokkonWud

They are shooting themselves in the foot if any aspect of it is like the PS3 controller in terms of look and feel.

Absolutely, concave ftw :)

It seems you can add to basket still. :)

Yeah, it's back up now. My friend pre-ordered one the other night. I guess they're spacing them out so they don't all go in one go.
