I'd think 'yay' followed by 'but I wish it was Ridley Scott'.

Everyone knows that.
Not according to the poll on here, nor amongst the majority of people I ask. Most say Aliens is the best.
Well they're gay.
/me tries to remember what he voted for...
I don't mind whether its James Cameron or Ridley Scott, as long as it's not Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

I actually don't try to compare the two as they're effectively two different genres - one's horror, the other is action. Both bloody awesome films though :)
It will be ****
I watched all the Alien films for the first time when I bought the Quadrilogy over a weekend a couple of years back.

Thing is, resurrection wasn't crap because of the director, in fact i'd say the director did quite a good job with what he had. That didn't make it anything other than terrible, don't get me wrong, but there were some examples of good directing hidden away amongst the dross. The problem with the film was the script, it was terrible, for this film to be better than resurrection it needs a good writer more than it needs a good director.

What do you base this hypothesis on?

Impressive, did you have an opinion on them?
What do you base this hypothesis on?
Generally being negative and angry?

Facehuggers were made for 3D! :D

Attitude towards films these days in Hollywood.
It was amazing, loved every film, 4 was a little to glam for me.
Watched the directors cut as well.
I want the Alien quadrilogy on bluray so much it hurts - going to be an epic box set when it finally appears.
I got it on DVD for £7.99 had a £10 voucher and it was on mis price for £17.99 when it came out :D

To be fair - the 'extended' cut of Alien3 is pretty good. Shame they wanted to make money with the franchise rather than make a good film.
Resurrection is utter turd though.
I currently have little to no hope of this being anywhere near as good as Alien/Aliens

The Directors Cut of Alien 3 is far superior to the cinema release that's for sure. However there's two directors cuts out there, the real one and one charading as the directors cut. The real directors cut still includes the scene where the alien bursts out of the dogs stomach, whereas the 'fake' has replaced the dog with a dead cow! This was done to appease animal rights freaks as seeing a dog 'die' off screen (the actual bursting scene moment was just displayed by a splat of blood on the wall) was apparently far worse than seeing dozens of humans get cut to pieces. Sadly this neutered directors cut is the one present in the quadrilogy boxset, i think i still have a VHS of what i consider the real directors cut.

Neither are the directors cuts though. The director had no involvement with them - thats why it's called the extended cut.
David Fincher essentially did the filming then walked away form the project due to all the studio interference.
As for the cow... that was in the script rather than the dog.

I just can't get excited despite being a massive fan of the original Alien film.
I hope I am proved wrong.
