View Full Version : Who do I complain to?

Come home today and as we're pulling into the driveway I see this:

http://www.sinc2sleep.co.uk/images/IMG_0106-01.jpg

Immediate thoughts are "**** I hope they didn't bend that to get it to stay in there, I hope that's just resting in there"

Upon opening the letterbox I see this:

http://www.sinc2sleep.co.uk/images/IMG_0107-01.jpg

Again, Immediate thoughts were "I really hope the contents of that tube aren't damaged"

However, on taking the tube out of the box and peeking inside, THERE'S ****ING NOTHING IN THERE!!!

So, somewhere between Jay & Silent Bobs Secret Stash in Red Bank NJ, and my house in Gravesend 3 awesome posters have been stolen!

I assume Royal Mail should be liable, considering they shouldn't have even attempted to leave it at my door like that.
Where to complain to?

Start at both ends - Royal Mail for the damage, and the supplier for the missing posters (unless of course you can show the tube was opened in transit, but now you've opened it I guess that isn't possible).

Hahahahaha, you've gotta laugh at how much incompetence you've experienced here though ;D

It was already torn open at where it's bent.

That's really ****ty  how much did they cost?

That's really ****ty  how much did they cost?

$7 each and then $15 for postage.

OK, so you're probably free of custom duty (I think it's anything under £18 is ok) so just go straight to the horse & complain. Keep your photographs & complain both to the company you bought them from & Royal Mail. Keep all your packaging etc for evidence - but don't expect a speedy resolution, they will go around the houses to try and put you off.

Complain at both sides, hope you get 2 sets and send me 1 :D

have a read of this see if any of it's useful.

http://www.hellmail.co.uk/royal_mail_rough_guide.asp

& here:

I think you'll have to fill in the lost, damaged, delayed form.

From Hellmail

If you do not recieve an item, the dispute is between the SENDER and Royal Mail, meaning that as the recipient, your dispute will be with the sender. Only the sender can raise a complaint directly with Royal Mail. The exception might be if the delivery was placed in an insecure area and was stolen, in which case you might have good cause to complain.

I think the photos already show that it was in an insecure area, so I think View Askew are going to say "we sent it, it must have been stolen from your mailbox"

I can only echo what people have said about complaining!

I have to admit though...

Hahahahaha, you've gotta laugh at how much incompetence you've experienced here though ;D

... this was my initial reaction! I had to laugh! Poor Poor Zincoxide! *big wubbles to you* ;D

You can complain to Royal Mail yourself.

You can get a claims form from the post office. If you can, print out the confirmation email/page.

I've just received 6 1st class stamps as compensation for the twats losing a MS 360 headset I sold on eBay.

SidewinderINC

a whole 6 first class stamps?!

I would need the entire 100x price of a first class stamp to cover the cost!

I'm gonna drop down to the mail collection place in the morning to see what they say.

Any postie did that to me, whether the stuff was nicked/damaged or not, I would be down the offices demanding to know who did the round and put in a formal complaint and I would demand proof that some disciplinary action was taken. Excessive response - maybe, likely to get a result - maybe not, but I would make sure my anger was known to anyone and everyone.

That does seem almost ridiculously incompetent. I can't think of anything that comes in a package that shape that wouldn't be damaged in some way by putting it in a letterbox like that.
Nice letterbox, by the way.

I really hope that is sarcasm!!

Actually no :) I've always liked the sort of outsidey-letterbox type things. Especially the ones they have in America with the little flag.
I also have some other interests which aren't as sad.

I can't stand it, it's really annoying, people keep trying to break it open and it serves no purpose!
Shame the house is rented and we're not allowed to change it.

That bit could be quite annoying (and very likely around my way) but at the same time the idea of not squashing stuff when opening the front door is also appealing (and my god how sad are we posting about bloody letterbox styles?!?!?! :p ;D )

SidewinderINC

I think round your way miss, you'd just turn up home and the post box would be gone and all the post sat neatly on the doorstep!

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out the postie had just left it on the doorstep or leaning against the wall thinking he was doing you a favour and saving you a trip to the PO before some local kids found it, helped themselves to the posters then stuffed the tube in your letterbox (after having a quick sword fight with it)

a whole 6 first class stamps?!

Yep, this is Royal Mails 'compensation'. They lost my friends phone in the post which he'd sold for £80 on one of those phone sites (Mizuma/Envirophone etc..), it ended up not arriving so he lost out on the money, his phone and as compensation they sent him 6 first class stamps along with the letter... unfortunately they forgot to put the stamps in there, so it was more a letter with the promise of 6 stamps.

hmmm, that's really **** Nokkon but he was very silly to not take the £5 postage insurance or at least send it recorded delivery.

Cigarette? I can see your point but that would imply that it would have to be the Borrowers' post box. :p

I continuously see complaint after complaint about Royal Mail and yet nothing ever seems to get resolved...

It should be three strikes and you're out!

Had a reply from the Secret Stash Crew (as they call themselves) saying I should take the mess down to the post office and once they've given me some reference numbers I can get in touch to see what can be done.
