Anyone recomend somewhere for Nov/ Dec?

Criteria

Not too far maybe 6h flight
Not to cold 20-30
Not too stressful, natives have some grasp of english and toilets you sit on
No maleria tablets
Something to see and do apart from sit on the beach all day, perferably historical and not nightclubs
Not full of thugs i.e. Brits
Not in North America
Not too expensive, ideally under £1500 for 2 for the week

We've been to Cario and some of Egypt and aren't ready to go again yet. Places on the list at the moment are Morroco/ Tunisia and errrrrrr not much else

Any ideas?

Tenerife? Go to the west of the island and it's quite nice and historical (nice mountain), certainly better than the west, and the thuggy types tend to stay away.

I'll stick Madeira on the table. Might not be your bag but no harm in suggesting it.

Not too far maybe 6h flight

About 4h IIRC.

Not to cold 20-30

Daytime Average 20-22. Night time 13-15.

Not too stressful, natives have some grasp of english and toilets you sit on

Fair proportion of the natives (especially in the busier areas) have English as second language. Toilets - check.

No maleria tablets

Check.

Something to see and do apart from sit on the beach all day, perferably historical and not nightclubs

Admittedly not masses to do, but enough historical sites to see when you want it, and being lazy when you don't.

Not full of thugs i.e. Brits

Plenty of Brits about but very much geared towards the older tourist, so thugs are rare.

Not in North America

Check.

Not too expensive, ideally under £1500 for 2 for the week

Not sure on this. Squeezyjet do direct flights from Stansted (try to avoid Mondays as it's often double the price), but hotel and cost of living can be expensive due to it being an island (most stuff gets flown in from Portugal).

Cyprus :)

Avoid the tourist traps of Paphos/Agia Naypa and you can find some really lovely cultural experiences with the warmth and low probability of rainfall :)

Just over 4 hours flight from Bristol.
Most people speak / understand English to great extent.
No problems with facilities.
No malaria.
Plenty to experience, see and do - with a nice variety of the sea, mountains, culture and 'buzz', all within travelling distance :)

I was very seriously thinking about Cyprus and I'm reasonably confident that it would have Will's recomendation too ;)

I hadn't seen that actually, Aitch and I have been talking about it for a while, well she has. We were thinking about doing a big holiday; India or South America but its probably best to put the money into the mortgage instead so we're saving that for a while. I really want to Namibia

What's Portugal like in winter? Whenever we have family holidays I've always said to my parents it's too hot in summer (we hate anything more than 22 or 23 lol, too hot to travel around and being brown a beach isn't any use to us).

Cypr... oh wait! :o It is sunny, but don't expect it to be hot sunny or beach sunny. :) I'd need to check a few things but drop me a mail and I may be able to sort something out for you in terms of property.

Morocco is absolutely amazing, I loved it - but speaking French and broken Arabic does help a lot. :)

I went to Portugal a few years back the first week in January for a reps training course, the hottest day I can only describe as a warm UK spring day. NOT bikini weather :(

There won't be many places that will be bikini weather north of the tropic of cancer really.

Morocco gets to the 20s as does Cyprus - but it gets bitterly cold at night (single figures). The Sahara freezes at night in some places then races up to 40+ within 10 minutes of sunrise!

The North coast of Africa is the best bet if you want "hot" weather. Cyprus will be warm, but pleasantly, and of course there is rain during that time of the year.

Malta is another option.

If you can afford it, the Azores and Cape Verde are supposed to be nice as is Madeira (though not sure on the english tourist thing there) but it does have a lot of fascinating history.

English tourist thing will be fine in Madeira - my parents wouldn't feel happy going back there year after year if that wasn't the case. Like most places, background crime has picked up in recent years sadly but that's mainly the locals, not British thugs. The worst that will probably happen is you'll get approached by a string of timeshare salesmen when you head into Funchal. Just send them on their way.

Will has summed things up very well.

Cape Verde is quite new as a mainstream resort for package holidays so you may have a dickhead problem there.

You won't get bikini weather much outside of the Caribbean at that time of year, Canaries and t'Egypt can be passable but it's a bit hit and miss and I've never had much love for the Canaries anyway to be honest.

I'll stick in Mauritius. Never been but it looks stunning and Nov/Dec is their summer!

http://www.mauritius.com/info/climate.shtml?Link=Aboutmauritius&PageF=Aboutmauritius

Average temp of 28 degrees C

No malaria

Although it may be slightly further than 6 hours :)

I'm going to Mexico in October, will still be hot then! I got flights for £455, you might be able to go for less as its later in the year.
