Really shouldn't be considering this as it's a bad idea but hey ho :D (lets go!)
Currently have z-5500's (Logitech) and wouldn't mind something a bit beefier. However given the layout of the room I don't think I can get away with more than a pair of floorstanders either side of the screen.
Whats good in floorstanders? Could I hook them up to the Z-5500's before I get a decent amp?
Recommend away :D
What are you using them for? For gaming the Z5500's won't be topped without spending a lot more but for music and films they're pretty poor and it won't cost much to beat them.

Bit of everything tbh :)
Ideally I want to go louder without too much bass power :)
Well the very first thing you should have done with the 5500's is block the port on the sub, so the bass is less muddy.

Well how much have you got to spend? You'll be wanting an amp to go with the floor standers so I'm sure we can figure something out.

An unspecified budget but tbh I probably can't afford it right now :(
Still interested in suggestions though :)

You planning on replacing the 5500 speakers with floorstanders?

Eventually :)
Problem is I know nothing about speakers bar 'this one goes to 11' :D

I don't think you can do that mate, you'll need an amp to drive the speakers.
Richer sounds do hifi packages for £129 but they include bookshelf speakers. To get yourself some floorstanders and an ok amp I'd say you need between £200-300 :)
