Had to put my MR2 into the garage a couple of days ago as it was poorly. Sounded like it was only firing on three cylinders - which was confirmed.

Turned out to be a dodgy wire which was the lesser of three evils (could have been a knackered injector or a knackered ECU - both of which would have been considerably more expensive to fix). She's running perfectly now. Will take her out for a proper spin tomorrow - hopefully the weather will be better.

Got them to do a couple of little jobs I'd been putting off for a while at the same time. All in all, it cost me £368, which seems a lot but could have been a lot more.

I also asked for a quote to fix the damaged sill. Turns out they do resprays too and he said he could do it for about £100 for the sill and £500 for the respray. Sounds good to me so it looks like the old girl will be getting a new coat when I get back from the rig next time.

Hold on, £500 for a full respray?

Is it me or is that saliva inducingly cheap?

I know, when I asked him for a quote and he said £500, I had a 'WTF' moment.

Probably won't be the most thorough job ever but as long as it looks half decent, it'll do. At the end of the day, it's an 18 year old car and spending £1500 or so on a proper respray would be madness - the car's barely worth that.

For a proper respray add a 0 to the price, sounds like a blowover?

It's an 18 year old MR2, not a Ferrari :p
According to the MR2OC forums, a top notch respray (all panels off, glass out etc.) should be between £1500 and £2000.

I know it won't be a proper job, I just want it tarted up a bit.

Sounds about right Stan & the sort of thing I am gonna do with my Polow.
Dunno about price yet but 3 to 500 quid should cover it if it's a quick prep & same colour job & I like the red it's in anyways. :)
