Had a bizzare encounter yesterday afternoon. I'd finished cutting the grass in my back, went to the tip then got my car cleaned. When I got home I decided to make a sausage sarnie and a cup of tea, while washing a cup up I noticed a cat sitting on the bin outside, it then jumped down and sat staring through the open patio door, threw it a bit of ham as it kept meowing and it decided to pop in and have a mooch around the house. Shut the door to the stairs and the downstairs bathroom so it couldn't go wandering off. Instead it came in the living room and jumped on the window sill staring outside where it stayed for about 15 minutes before wandering off.

Fast forward to this morning. When I get downstairs after showering and dressing I tend to open the patio door for some fresh air and low and behold the damn cat is back, this time it decides that jumping on the bench where I'm making my lunch for work might be a good idea, managed to stop it and spent the next 15 minutes trying to shoo it out the door while making my lunch, having a bowl of cereal and sorting my bag out. Also managed to get a pic of it which it happily posed for.

I *think* it belongs to the woman in the flat next to my house, if I see her around I'll have to ask, plus it gives me an excuse to talk to her ;)

That's the look he was giving me all morning while I had the ham out, I thought at one point he was going to kill me

This is ReconnaissanceCat.

He'll be gaining vital information before the first wave of attack.

You've made the mistake of feeding it. It now has the right to enter your home whenever it pleases.

So someone else at work has said :( I'm more of a dog person, they at least do what you tell them to do. I swear if he tells all the cats in the area about this I'm making cat pie mmmmmmmm ;D

So, what do I do now? The cat has been back and currently sitting outside our patio door staring in, I'd assume someone round here owns it but the last thing I want to do is bring it in for the night as it'll never leave and I don't want to "steal" someone's cat.

Leave it outside then? It is a cat, it will be fine outside :) It doesn't look starved, so I would imagine that there is an owner out there feeding it also, he is just abit greedy and wants more than he is given :p

Video I took today of a cat who was winding up my parents dog when I took him out for a walk, he was taunting him as if to say "Nah nah you cant get me!" despite the dogs best efforts to get the cat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1im_qMvW8u8 (still cant do the damn embed thing sorry - tried but just got a white box)

(and yes I apologise for it being one of THOSE yappy dogs ;)

Don't worry about it. Most cats have at least 2 'homes' where they pop round for food and a chat. I think my Aslan has suckered a little old lady into thinking he's a stray as he's putting on weight and constantly coming home smelling of fresh fish. He's landed!

Let it in if you want its company but it won't worry if you don't let it in, it'll eventually just go home. Cheeky monkey.

Ah good, having never had a cat in my life I have no idea about them. It turned up again this morning and I'm hoping it's getting the message that it's not coming in again.

It'll turn up every morning, outside every house you ever own, for the rest of your life. ;)

Cats are sneaky and if it thinks it can have two owners, two bowls of food and two lots of fuss a day it will, I wouldn't encourage a co ownership situation but there's nothing wrong with giving it a fuss outside of your house, letting it inside will lead to a time when it sneaks in and gets shut in all day which is not advisable.

Anyone else read six dinner Sid?

Great kids book about a cat who lived at 6 different addresses, who was having a fine time until he got sick and taken to the vet 6 times, at which point the vet (and then his "owners") figured it all out ;D

I'll say hello to it when I'm having a smoke outside, but I'm refusing to let it in the house now, it still sits outside staring in whenever I'm home which was annoying last night as I burnt my food so had to have the window and patio doors open to let the smoke out, the cheeky bugger kept trying to get in.

Gonna see about getting some cat repellent spray to see if that works.

Heard about that from someone else a while back, you're supposed to spread around the edge of your garden and it keeps them away. Don't fancy a steaming pile of lion poo in my house though, I can smell bad enough as it is ;D
