View Full Version : Choices?
Choices?
There are far too many.
Discuss.
This thread inspired by shampoo, MSN, JSB and Billy Connolly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9Z0Vp2vB8Y) and a couple of bottles of ale.

There needs to be MAN shops with No choices just this or that.
"Where's me shampoo"
"You're Dads away with it in his sandwiches" ;D;D;D
There are indeed too many choices. That would be why I spent six weeks deciding on a phone. No-one would make the decision for me. ;D

To shut the window or to not?
A better option would be to watch this video before the first one.

OMG, not only are their too many types of toiletries to choose from, their are different SIZES.
yours,
grumpy
I've done that sort of thing with Audacity before but it does suffer from loss of quality. Not that that's likely to be an issue given that it's coming from YouTube anyway.
Can do it tomorrow if no-one comes up with a better method.
I just want a coffee! how hard is that.....? a coffee I tell you! not a grande skinny decaf caramel mocha no whipped!

Is it just me who knows what a "Regular coffee" is? There's a coffee shop over the road which I'm never going back to.
Regular coffee please.
Do you want it venti?
Err no thanks, I'm sure that means super size or something. Or do I have to specify the size in another language, despite being in England, and all my life had no discrepancy with our sizes.
So you want it a bit skinny?
What does that mean? Is it in a tall thin cup? I just want a regular cup of coffee.
Regular comes in different sizes.
How is that even possible? I wanted regular as a size, do you not do regular sized cups? How about if I say medium?
Our sizes are Short, Tall and Venti.
What the fu... Well which one would you say is a normal sized?
Tall
I'll have a tall coffee then.

Choices I hates them.
Was chatting with the Feekster last night & as soon as we started it was like mind melt, Then onto Billys vids & we all melted together in our Hate of the dreaded choices.
I goes to the market stool every week to get my sucky sweets for work, I look & just see a Blur of goodys, What would you like Bloke says.
I stare at them a while & then stare at him for a while, Then I say Same as last week :D
When I am looking for music it Blows my mind :( Whenever I go into a shop it does the same, Big Bang as soon as I spot all the Dreaded choices
In the shop I work it is completely mental, Not only do you get choices in types but also choices of the same thing in different sizes WTF !!! Mini Jaffa cakes WTF WTF WTF !!!

Well said.
It's even worse in the US when they don't seem to want to give you just a plain black coffee. Last time I was in LA (and hopefully the last time I'll be there) I went into a coffee shoip and asked for a large black filter coffee figuring that it was an unambiguous request. Seemingly not. It took three attempts for them to give me one without milk and whipped cream.

My coffee choice is quite simple pumpkin spice latte :D just a shame we can't get it over here :'(
I've just been 'pre-shopping' as I need to choose a rucksac for going away. I'm going again on Friday as I'm off in the afternoon, I don't think this is going to be one of those 'man shops' (i.e. go into shop, pick item, pay, go home).

It does indeed. I've used it many times for just that purpose, as well as recording radio comedy :)
Just make sure you get the lame.dll as well if you want to export it as an .mp3 though.

Unfortunately Mr Feek is a mac man so not sure if that'll work, my suggestion will definitely work as I've used it to get radio shows for Daz before.

I think to some extent choices are good, but the coffee thing is a perfect example of choice being unnecessary. Sometimes you can have too much choice as well, like yesterday, I fancied a bar of chocolate, went in the garage and there's this whole big wall of different chocolate, and it took me blooming ages to pick one! :o
And slightly off topic.....when the hell did a bar of chocolate become like 50p!!!
I thought choices were good too :(
We can all mock and laugh at those with no choices whilst we make our minds up and never come to an agreement, and grow old deciding.....

I walked into a starbucks a few years back (had never been into one before).
Me: 'Hi there i'd like a black coffee please'
Cashier: 'A what?'
Me: 'Black coffee'
Cashier: *confused look* 'You have to choose from the list on the wall behind me'
/me looks at list
/me fails to see 'black coffee'
/me leaves
Never been into one since. I've learned since that day what i want is actually called an 'Americana', wtf? It's just black coffee! I know this isn't completely to do with excessive choices, but it does lead into that. Along with excessive choices, the choices have gotten more complicated. So for example these damn coffee shops, it's not a coffee with milk, it's a super foamy latte with extra green & blacks organic dark chocolate, the 98% cocoa kind though, not the 96%, with extra organic marshmallows, white, not pink, ta.
The worst is American restaurants though, you feel like you're on a gameshow where you have to answer as many questions as possible in 10 seconds.
'Hi there i'd like a full english breakfast please'
'Pork or beef sausages?!'
'Eeeerrrrr, pork'
'Over easy, sunny side up or scrambled eggs?!'
'Eeeerrr, scrambled?'
'Rye or wheat toast?!'
'Wheat!'
'Hash browns or mushrooms!?'
'Mushrooms!?'
'Red or brown sauce?!'
'I JUST DON'T KNOW ANY MORE!!!!!'
/jumps out of window

Americano. Not the same as a proper filter coffee as it's a shot (or two) of espresso topped up with hot water. Starbucks usually have half decent filter coffee on the go but they go have a habit of having their machines set too hot and burning the coffee.

Ah aye that's the one. As i say this was several years ago (when starbucks didn't rule the world), i haven't been in since so maybe they have changed their ways for the better (simpler).
