I just grabbed a bag of hula hoops out of the cupboard to snack on and I thought they tasted really bland.

Upon closer inspection the packet says "NOW no artificial flavours, colours or MSG. Same great taste!"

Who are they trying to kid? They're awful.

If this is without artificial flavours and MSG then please, give me my e-numbers back!

Plus they don't fit on your fingers anymore! :(

Oh and the MSG thing can be countered by eating pork scratchings :D

Eat enough of them and they start tasting 'ok' again. This is the second time they have done this to me, spoiled a good snack.

Now imagine how good they used to taste back in the 80's; proper sized pack, loads of salt, msg and fried in proper fat....

It's not fair :(

Two things on packaging that will be likely to make me set it back on the shelf without buying it are: "No added salt" and "No added MSG". They're flavour enhancers, food tastes better with them added - processed food needs all the help it can get. If you don't add flavour enhancers, don't bother making the stuff as it will be bland like Feek's Hula Hoops

Reminds me of that Chinese takeaway in Aberdeen that proudly advertised "NO MSG" on the window. I don't think we saw anyone in there at all.

Oddly enough, that's the first thing that sprang to mind.

I woman at work offered me some hula hoops the other day and they tasted really nice. Althought that might have been due to the fact I was staring at her breasts while eating them :D

Our local chinese doesn't use any MSG/artificial flavours/colourings and I have to say it tastes far superior to the ones we used to frequent; much the same as I don't use such in my own cooking and it's most nommable :D

Regarding the hula-hoops though - that's most smelly. I think companies should stick to the 'low fat' labelled ones for the more healthy option, if people want to eat bland, no-additives food then they can, but why make the rest of us suffer!

EDIT: + 1 for boobie love.

I remember that place it said:

LOW FAT!
NO MSG!
NO SALT!

Someone (I couldn't possibly say who) said 'I bet that tastes like ****!'
Oh how we giggled :)

There are two people I can think of who would utter a remark like that, and both were there. :)
