Ooops, I had an e-mail off Tiscali last night advising me of their "fair-use" policy. Jeez, I was only downloading Lost season 2. I've never been that happy with Tiscali but that's the straw that buggered the Dromedary. I'm currently on their 2Mb allegedly unlimited package.

Ok then, who do you guys use, would you recommend them? Etc etc?

Cable's not an option unfortunately, as we only had the sewage and running water installed last year in Banbury and we still point at the great metal birds in the sky.

Have Tiscali actually limited your bandwidth or is it just a warning so far?

As far as I could work out they only make an issue of it if you're downloading large amounts in peak times - presumably downloading at full speed overnight and then shutting it off mid-morning is absolutely fine

I know it's not ideal but for £14.99 a month I doubt you'll get a decent monthly allowance if you like to that sort of thing regularly


edit: very odd - Eclipse seem to have monthly usage limits but then spotted this in the FAQ section

I would of said F2S pre-Pipex but I'm hesitant to recommend them now. Download speeds have certainly taken a hit and torrents slow down a hell of a lot during the day even with encryption on due to their traffic shaping. I am at about 42 gig downloaded this month out of my alloted 50 though :D.

I had a call logged for them for a specific problem and my p2p is running 24/7. I run their top package at about £30/month I think it is. When we exchanged emails about the problem they did say that my connection is very active but made no comments about fair usage.

I limit the uplink at 18k/sec which is a tad under half what it can do and it's doing that non stop. Downlink is whatever the torrents are bringing in ;)

im with nildram now after being with pipex for 3 years i moved as soon as P2P was capped

with nildram MaxDSL i get 50gb download limit on peak time and unlimited off peek

only ever had to called once and it was sorted while i was on the phone

In the pre-Pipex days Nildram were fantastic but they've gone down hill rapidly. Either Eclipse or Zen would get my vote.

Until last week I was a Zen customer but BT were unable to give me a stable Max connection so I ditched ADSL.
