Christmas (or "fairy") lights... we put ours up on Sunday, lit up the whole garden (not in a garish "cover the house in every colour conceivable" way, just a few white lights in the trees/shrubs and so on. We're hiring a hot tub for the Christmas period, so we wanted the garden to look nice. We've also put the tree outside this year), and we put some up in the house. Then we dimmed the main lights, lit some candles and felt all Christmassy :)
I love fairy lights! I keep some up in my room around my bed and dressing table all year around and my venue is full of them!

I sent an enquiry to Harrods via their website, and where I had to put in my title (as in Miss) the list of options that comes up for me to select one made me laugh
Sir, Vicount, Vicountess, Honourable, the Right honourable, Wing commander, professor, Sheik, madam, madamoiselle, major, monsieur, prince, lieutenant commander, his royal highness, count, judge, countess, dame, doctor and then you get to Mr, Mrs, Miss, Ms, before there are even more posh ones.
Never seen that before. ;D
Karma.
The management company of my old flat has been in touch to ask for my side of the story of the ceiling collapse.
She's trying to sue them for ripping the ceiling down without her instruction.
It wasn't safe and they did it for H&S reasons - but it wasn't my decision obviously as I was just the tenant.
Daft bint. Had she taken 2 days off like yours truly did, to be with the builders and discuss the work with them rather than doing it remotely, things may have been different. They rang their management company and gave them their report and were instructed to come back the next day to rip the ceiling down!
Ah well, I've given the truth and my side of the story. But the misery she put me through I was quite happy to oblige. :)
She's lost over £2400 in rent since I moved out.... idiot.

Sending doorstep energy sales dudes away unhappy.
Had a guy from E-on here half an hour ago. Started off asking me who my energy provider was. I told him I'd just recently switched and had no intention of switching again just now. He started the next part of his spiel so I repeated what I'd said a little more firmly. He started with "...but..." so I repeated myself quite forcefully to which he replied "I'm only talking sir". I replied with "I know you are but I'd rather you listened instead - I HAVE NO INTENTION OF CHANGING MY PROVIDER AT THIS TIME!"
He said goodbye and walked away.
If I hadn't been in the middle of making lunch, I'd have done the same thing I did to the British Gas dude about 6 months ago. I let him go through his whole spiel; told him who my supplier was, told him how much I pay, which tariff etc etc, let him do the price comparison thing on his tablet and even managed to feign surprise when he told me I could save £60 a year with British Gas.
I thanked him very much and told him I'd take his advice on board and do a full comparison on the internet rather than rely on his selective comparison. He tried to tell me I wouldn't find a cheaper supplier online to which I replied that he may be correct but there was no way I was going to buy from him without checking first. For some reason he stomped away and forgot to say goodbye or tell me to "Have a nice day". How rude :p
To be fair to him, I would have saved £60 with the tariff he offered me. What he neglected to tell me was that he hadn't offered me the cheapest BG tariff. Nor did he tell me I could save £70 with my current provider at the time simply by changing tariffs. He also forgot to point out that the cheapest provider at that time (my current provider) could save me over £80 a year.

Unreal to watch now as they portray a Top cop who wakes in the morning & downs a swill of Scotch, is in the pub by mid day & drives whilst pissed out of his head & smokes anywhere & everywhere.

Exactly that. Nothing but moan, and when constructive and sensible advice is dished out, it's ignored. I think we all have a rant and a moan, and that's cool - doesn't bother me, it's the constant negativity that is not conducive to happiness. Happiness = :D

Had a productive day yesterday. My brother had been staying for a few days so I had moved settees and stuff and made up the spare bed in the living room. Yesterday, I got all that stuff moved back; I did 3 loads of washing and hung it all out; put fresh bed clothes on the bed; I made 2 pots of soup (not really soup weather but I love the stuff); went grocery shopping but had to charge the car battery first (must get a new one); got my bag packed for going to work on Monday; got all the washing up done; did the hoovering and unpacked my bag from our week in Tenerife.
Today's tasks include: dusting/polishing; sweeping/mopping floors; making bread; washing and polishing the car; all the ironing from yesterday's washing; do some fiddling with PCs and clean the windows.
After all that, it's back to lazy ****ard mode until I go away to work on Monday :D

Hi Stan,
Following on from ****’s earlier email, I write to confirm that we have now compared your old pay structure to that of your new salary plus day rate.
From these calculations, I can confirm that TWMA are owe you £1,806.67 (a gross figure that is less tax and national issuance). This is salary adjustments due to the salary being backdated to 1st March.
This will be paid in your May pay.
Should you have any queries, please contact us immediately.
Kind regards,

Getting one number in the lottery ...
Smugness.
Mud! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!
Just did a green lane which was ridiculously hard (Sam was super struggling and kept dropping his bike). Massive long incline of just mud and streams of water and slippy slippy rocks. It was hard and exhausting!
Granted, I had to let Sam take over half way up.... I still managed the first part which was the steepest and rockiest! I just felt after the bike crushed my leg I should probably back down as I didn't want to hurt myself!
Going back at somepoint in the future with a bag of determination and cameras!
Over 2 weeks without a delight post, but multiple dislikes! Must address the balance! Today, I was delighted by banter at the car boot; really enjoyed making off the cuff remarks about things people were looking at and making them laugh!

Realising in a couple of months time my home will be my motorbike (affectionately known as Hobbes) and our world will be our oyster! No ties, no work, no worries other than keeping the bike in shape! Probably starting in Australia now (will update other thread later as to why) and then island hopping, New Zealand, Alaska, America, South America, Africa, Europe and... well wherever we like! Life will become a million times simpler :D
Cannot wait. It's all becoming reality and I really cannot wait :D :D :D Never been so happy, I feel a little bit sick with joy! At the same time though... blooming hard work to organise... and the travel is going to get difficult in the 2nd half but WHEE! Challenge AHOY!

Quite happy today to recieve compensation for having to get a taxi after a cancelled then delayed flight with BA, it's not for the full amount and it's taken about a month but since I'd already essentially written it off as one of those things it's come as a nice surprise. It was accompanied by a nice letter from the customer relations person too so I'm pleased that they've sorted it out and written back.
I've just read back the letter I sent and realised that I had a couple of typos in there and got a couple of the timings wrong which they were kind enough not to point out. :o
Yay!
Knowing that in just over a week's time I'll be lying by the pool, sizzling in the sunshine and eating yummy tapas. Go me!
Noticed OcUK had a good deal on an SSD (it's actually slightly cheaper at scan/amazon but I digress) and with free delivery.
Went to order and found the code didn't work, emailed them. Got a response 1-2 hours later requesting I call their friendly order line and they'd give me free delivery.
Not only did the item arrive today (DPD even sent me a text confirming this this morning, given me options to change delivery date if I wanted) they've chucked in two free upgrade kits! I guess I'll return the extra bracket and cable I paid for then!

PPI compensation. Ex-bank wrote to me suggesting I may have been affected, so I decided I'd nothing to lose save an hour of my time to fill in the form. Just got a letter saying I've been successful and have got about 5x what I was expecting! The taxman will want a slice, but I'm still ahead by a holiday and maybe a new Mac Mini.
So if you've had PPI in the last six years, you never know - it may just be worth claiming.

It's actually six years since the account PPI was claimed on was last active, so it could be a loan you took out in 2002 and paid off last year. Also in some cases, a 3 year extension to that is being offered though not sure what those terms are.
