Finally, after years of yearning, today I got my dream lens.

You had it on crop didn't you? Found it not wide enough? Or was it too heavy?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure it wasn't the lens - I was shooting in a venue with little/no light and what lighting was there was VERY poor.

And you can tell he's a pro too. Even a picture of a lens has to be expertly post-processed. :D

Indeed, it's widely acknowledged as one of if not Canon's Finest lens in production today, but being a prime, and 135mm, its quite a specialised lens. :)
