Just taken delivery of a shiny new MacBook Pro which is my first proper Mac so what software should I be looking to get?
So far I have:
Colloquy
Handbrake
Skype
Dropbox
Google Earth
VLC
Bootcamp into Windows 7
Adium is good if you use IMs.
SidewinderINC

Toast Titanium.
Transmission - if you use torrents.
Perian
Flip4Mac
1Password (great for setting up individual good secure passwords for any websites you go to)
CandyBar (for interface tweaking)
Cyberduck (ftp client)
Skitch (image capture)
Spotify
Zattoo
How's that for a start?

growl is a good one too :)
Xslimmer is useful if you want to reclaim wasted HD space within applications.
Unison is the best usenet client I've found so far.
Xslimmer is indeed a good one, I bought that ages ago and only just re-installed it after my Snow Leopard installation. It just freed me 1.02Gb of space on my OS/App drive and considering that was only 17Gb pre Xslimming, it's a nice saving. All I let it do is remove unwanted languages though, I'm still a bit cautious about architectures.
Whatever you do, don't run Monolingual to remove languages though, it's very risky and it totally killed one of my installations despite following the instructions to the letter.
I've used Monolingual on several (6 IIRC) OS X installations and never had a problem. From what I remember the key is to not remove English (US).
I didn't! I can't remember what it screwed up but my only solution was a rebuild from scratch. It has a pretty awful reputation if you search around, I'd rather be safe than sorry and will never go near it again.
