anyone got one?

is it anything less than yubbish?

my good lady has just got it to replace her sky box. but the intertubes connection is terrible so i can't get to watch the on demand stuff.

thinking of getting rid of it and getting sky+ instead but it'd be a bit of a faff.

What you mean by the intertubes?

I have BT vision but only just it for the channels and I don't have any added bundles on it. So more like a freeview box set than a sky box set :) I find it to be really good.

Decent value as a freeview pvr, on demand stuff was overpriced imo so we never tried it. Sky customers now :)

my fine lady has taken one of the package deals which means she gets a power of the on demand stuff for free. most of it is yubbish but the 3 bourne films are on there just now.

i keep getting an error when i try to watch anything on demand. BT's help thing says it's because it requires at least 2Mb/s connection, hers is currently peaking at 1.4.

so no on demand funtimes, just a fancy freeview box.

Have you asked BT whether they can send out a broadband engineer to increase the speed. You would need to ask whether it would cost money though before they sent him/her out.

Waste of time. Relies on broadband to much which is fine if you have 8meg or higher.
Interface is a bit naff and the price of the on demand stuff is well over the top.

My Dad is testing the next version of the hardware - it's even worse than the current revision.

Alas that's what happens when you go for the cheapest possible hardware (BT not your father). What problems is your father having with the new hardware? It should be a lot better, ~2.5x the processing power and full 1080p.

Signal strength with the old version 85% Quality 100%
New version - 30% and 50%

Failing recordings, losing recordings and all sorts of other stuff.

At least the box looks a little better than the old version.

Well that wouldn't be hard ;D

Have BT said anything about these issues? I'm wondering if it is a driver issue rather than a hardware problem?

rather strange thing to be interested but I've spent the last 3 years working on the Mediaroom platform (what BT use)

aaaaaaaaaand it's cancelled.

i shall put up with rubbishy BT internet here as it looks like we're stuck with that for now. shall need to set up a remote server at my place to download stuff as my connection is about 100 times better.

still, should be phoning sky back up and getting them to come give us sky+ for much cheapness.

That's actually why we moved. We were paying for the more expensive BT broadband options because I need the bandwidth, turns out having sky tv + broadband was a very similar price. I wasn't that bothered by sky, but the connection throttling on BT was utterly unbearable - using anything to do with Live on the 360 was.... well, you couldn't really. Same sync speeds with sky but no throttling = happy :)

He's only had the new box for a couple of weeks as he's testing it. He has reported it to the appropriate people though.
