What old school games should i be getting my hands on for some unadulterated netbook fun?

Thinking along the lines of:
Sim City
Civ
Settlers
Diablo
Broken Sword
Popcap Arcarde (thanks Dee!) for peggle

What other small oldschool games capable of being netbook driven should i waste my time on? :)

Good call!

What about Fusion (megadrive emulator) and tonnes of games?
Likewise win UAE for amiga stuff.

Hook both of them up with a wireless pad for the megadrive and an old school joystick for the amiga :D

Uplink, with the Onlink mod :)

Hahahaha YES! :D

I used to love playing this on the train and other public places and think I was a super cool James Bondy Computer Hacker Spook!

Tip: For added effect, when you notice someone watching you, stare at them in a shocked manner, then swiftly pack up your gear and run to another place! ;D

Heroes of Might & Magic IV (IV was the last one I played). Truly awesome game and will run a treat.

Diablo 2 works absolutely fine, was brilliant doing boss runs on the train on the way into work, lol!

Dawn of War runs ok if you have the settings on low and is great fun.

Deus Ex runs great and (of course) is an awesome game :)

If you go to www.msiwind.net I think there's a thread on peoples' gaming experiences on the Wind which will be v. much the same :)

Wow i keep forgetting how old Deus Ex is, shocking it runs on a netbook and yet it such an amazing game...

Yeah I rocked out a bunch of the 'classics' when I got my Advent a year or so ago, proper nostalgia and the best thing is that because it's only a teeny screen even the crappy resolutions look fine :-)

Oh and Planescape Torment runs beautifully too and is awesome!

Here's some more suggestions :p

Alpha Centauri
Dungeon Siege
Max Payne (:D)
C&C (a bunch of them)
Warcraft 3
Starcraft
Total Annihilation
Dungeon Keeper 2

Red Alert would be a cracking thing to have on the netbook. Defo worth a go!

World of Goo?

Tried that since i bought it the other day for next to nothing, but there are strange graphical issues, although i havent tried it again since i've installed windows 7 and the new intel drivers. That might have fixed everything :)

Timely article I just came across: 17 Games to Play on a Netbook (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=217216). I think there are better suggestions in this thread tho.

Oooh, how about X-Com Apocalypse? Was an absolutely awesome game when it was released back in 1997, and if you can get it to run in Win 7 it'll certainly play well on the netbook.

Good recommendation and also it'll certainly run as it's been released on Steam. I bought it as a weekend offer for £1.50, bargain! It's now £3 however, oooo big money.
