:D

Dell Inspiron 6400 running OSX. Had a few problems getting it running but it's all working now. Still a few things I need to fiddle with as I've got not sound or wireless at the moment but for a first stab, it runs pretty well.

I keep checking forums because I want to try it on my Aspire One but so far i'm not aware of anyone managing to get the wireless working properly using the Atheros setup that Acer used. A Netbook with no WiFi is pretty much useless to me :p

We have it running on our Eee PC and the wireless works, just with different drivers and software ;D

Just in case anyone hasn't come across the news floating about - if you're running Snow Leopard on your Netbook Hackintosh, don't update to 10.6.2.

Should be fine, Mark. The report came from one person who was having problems which were then resolved in the next seeded update. Of course, we won't know for sure until the final version is released.

Nicely done, Desmo. I assume you're using the insanely mac forums?

Does the EEE PC use the same Atheros WiFi chip?

What exactly is involved? Can this be run under a virtual machine?

I believe it's possible to set up a Hackintosh as a VM but I won't vouch for the ease of doing so. Netbooks, on the other hand, are fairly similar regardless of brand and thus well understood and catered for by the hackintosh community.

I built Tiger into a VM (it was my first experience of OS X) but it wasn't that easy to do and didn't work very well. I don't know how possible it is to virtualise Leopard or Snow Leopard but the server versions can be done very easily because it's supported, and I've done it with Leopard to play with server.

Definitely something I want to try when I have money to buy a new/larger SSD for my mini 9...

Unless of course it can be installed/built on a USB drive (has a 20GB and a 30GB...)...

Yeah, have been reading there although not a great deal. I just downloaded the DVD and gave it a shot. Had a few problems before that I couldn't seem to solve but whilst we were sitting around yesterday I thought I'd give it another go and seems to have run fine :)

Only thing that could put a stop to it all is that I can't get wireless working yet. Not had a big dig around yet but initial outlook appears bleak :(

Will take a look and see how far I get though.

That was the problem I had with my original hackindell and I ended up having to use an external wireless card, I just couldn't make it work on the internal card at all.

Keep meaning to throw this on the Mini 9 to see how it rides on a little screen. Any good links Des?

Oh man, the Mini 9 is absolutely perfect for it. *clicky* (http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-os-x/)

Cheers Feek :) I did change the wireless card to an Intel I had knocking around, hopefully that wont cause me pain.

Might do - Apple's wireless chipset selection is rather restrictive.

In Tiger there's a couple Atheros drivers and a Broadcom driver. Don't know about anything newer (yet).

Well 10.6.2 has hit and early indications are that it is killing Atom netbooks but replacing the 106.2 kernel with the 10.6.1 kernel works. I'm sure there will be some custom installers out within a day or so for it.
