Modern Warfare 2 Games Night!

As requested and because it's a bloody good idea, who wants a night of MW2 together? :D

Being a bit pre-emptive about this as I figure next week would be best for most, but it means plenty of time to get organised :)

I don't have my own no, I just sit on his account for an hour or two every so often if i'm round his place playing whatever he happens to have in his XBox at the time :P

I'm not 100% sure how the Live system works and whether it's his XBox he pays to connect and can have multiple different accounts connect or if it's his account he pays to connect via any XBox...

Well each account on the xbox needs its own live subscription so he can use it on my xbox and still play online :)

That was a right blast! I really do not know MB how I ended up with such a high number of kills in those games. I think it was because people just didn't pay attention to their surroundings because I wandered into their area 3-4 times and just killed them all ;D

You were impressed! I was amazed at my performance last night ;D I don't quite know how I kept topping the group. The gun helicopter on the last round really helped but I think the biggest change was the silencer on my UMP45 which meant I could sneak up on them :evil:

My favourite of last night was knifing the two fellas in the bunker while they looked out of the window ;D

I'm the same as you it all finally came together last night. I'd started to learn the maps so knew where people were likely to come from and where the bottlenecks were, etc.

I'm sure we can arrange stuff during the week for different people even if there is only a couple of us playing. It took me back to my first games of MW where you kept teasing Desmo for standing in the middle of the street getting shot ;D

A guy at work has a keyboard/mouse adaptor for the 360 that he doesn't use as he can't get the hang of aiming and moving like that :shocked:

I think i'm getting more used to the controller than I was (keyboard & mouse gaming origins here!) but I'm still far slower than most of the gamers out there - probably why I'm still a level 10 and live towards the bottom of the match scoreboards! ;D

If the response on the adaptor is anything like decent then you'll be able to tell if I'm using it. :)
I used to play a lot of quake 2 DM and Instagib matches so I'm much better with K/M setup than with controller.

Think the only time I've played headquarters is when I've been online with you lot.
I've noticed I seem to be having my best matches when I'm using an SMG rather than LMG or Assault rifle.

I tend to bounce between SMG and Assault rifle depending on he size of the map. I'd say my favourite weapon so far is the USP45. I tend to use that on most maps.

MB, Desmo and I had a blast on headquarters again last night and it was excellent fun everyone worked together and we won most rounds.

I play HQ quite a bit :)

Was great last night actually playing in some type of team where everyone actually tries to complete the objective. Even those young scouse lads were playing as a team as well which helped immensely. A lot of games I've played seem to have people just running around doing their own thing.

I agree completely with something like HQ it is imperative everyone work together. It really annoys me when I bust my arse to get into the area and capture the headquarters to find a team member sat looking out of a window on the other side of the map :angry:

I have to say HQ has been great for racking up the points. Last night was a personal best of 9700+ :cool:

I think it unlocks around 10... I know I can't be much higher than that but I've just recently seen it on my list :)

I've been enjoying Domination recently - it shows alot of the maps are well designed so nobody can just camp around a flag point! Good action start to finish and I prefer aiming towards some form of achievement rather than just running around trying to kill everyone :p

I find if I'm playing alone my game of choice is Ground War which is a mix of TDM and Domination with up to 18 players, its hectic but you can get a lot of kills in one game :)

HQ and Sabotage are big points games if you're half decent. Even if you're crap like me you get some half decent points.

We did bloody well in that game of HQ to pull back and win. We were miles behind to start but once we started charging the Target on mass we were ready to capture as soon as it became available. Was wicked to win that one :D

Was a good laugh, till my net connection did the usual and crapped out on me for no reason :( every so often it just dies, it says it's connected but it's not.

Just been playing some groundwar and I have to say it's much less laggy than in MW1 and quite a lot of fun. Sadly not as high scoring as HQ Pro but a reeet laugh.

I think my problem (being crap :p) lies with how there is nothing much to lose if you die in game - you can be back in the same spot, popping off your killer within seconds and so if theres an opportunity to risk something - I tend to!

This combined with me still trying to get used to a controller = some very bad stats but hey - it's great fun which is my priority and playing more will only improve my play style/control :)

I might have to check out a spot of Demolition then Wossi :)

I think I'd like to see more custom classes available really. I'd like a few different things for different game types, as Leo says with the tactical insertion. Not tried that out yet but I might add it to my class and see how it works out.

all my classes now possess a launcher as my secondary weapon so I can shoot stuff down :)

I have 2 classes I use one with the USP45 and the other with the scar

I'm tempted to setup classes for different types of games. For example for a game of Headquarters I'd stick with either a sub or assault rifle.

Perk 1: Bling (RDS + FMJ)
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: either steady aim or scrambler :D

Secondary Equipment: 2 x stun grenades + 1 x tactical insertion

Same as me. It turns out that it *may* be a problem with either the wireless part of the router or the upnp. Going to turn off the wireless before gaming and see if that fixes it. There are a lot of people with the same problem as us.

Might just buy a new router, but that's for another thread.

I really enjoyed last night too, though the last team we ended up against in Domination was just too good, at least for now. Every time I thought I had a bead on one of them they'd get me a split second before I pulled the trigger.

Knowing the maps really does make a difference though, on the maps I know well I tend to end up with a positive K:D ratio, where on the other maps it tends to be negative. Can't wait till Christmas as I should be able to pour some real time into it then.

I was on but nobody invited me :( I was on form too tonight, had an awesome match on Wasteland. As everyone was fighting around the trenches I snuck around the back with a sniper rifle. Picked off three people from a small hut, moved back from it and picked off two more who went looking for me. Dropped a Predator missile down and took out 4 at once, then sent a Harrier in for another 4 kills. Ended up with a 14 kill streak (my best yet on MW2) and final stats of 20:7, the top score in the round. Pretty much every match ended up with a positive K:D ratio for me, which is very rare indeed!

Sorry I left without saying goodbye chaps. During the match on Scrapyard my controller died, and when I plugged in another my headset didn't work any more. Had good fun tonight, had a 10 kill streak twice so had chopper gunner a couple of times, which hopefully means I'm improving somewhat. Good fun indeed :)

i could of made so much progress if we'd been able to actually earn XP tonight!

i'm going to have to go back on as after every game I saw I was about 32 points short of the next level - most annoying.

I managed to knock up a few levels, earnt the best part of 15000 exp with a single shot that crossed several achievements :D

I enjoyed being your fodder :p Managed to knock out a few 5 kill streaks which is a first for me, sending down some predators whilst leaving my body exposed for Joe90 to pick off :p

Desmo & MB ; good to play with you both, following you around in an attempt at teamwork is finally earning me some gameplay finesse, albeit brief! :p

Not sure what happened at the end the game lobby closed and it couldn't reconnect to anyone. Food was ready anyway so would of had to leave.

Same thing happened to me re the lobby and the food.

It looks like I finish on the 23rd and won't be back at work till the 4th, so will try to get on in between playing drinking and playing Rock Band.

Really good games last night especially the private matches! I did have to laugh when we join that game and that KILA clan were like "ooh look another clan, we're going to get beaten" ;D

We indeed had clantags, but that was the quickest team deathmatch I have ever seen - they had an AC130 and harrier covering every spawn site for the 3 minutes the match was being played. ;D

I didn't even get the chance to knife charge them! :p
