Let me get this right

I am stupid enough to leave two three year old children together in a car unsupervised; they muck about and one of them hits the other one with a heavy object

This is obviously tragic

However

The govenment gives me £20,000

The money is given from the public purse to the mother of the injured party.

Notice there is no compensation from the parent of the child who hit the other child, the money is from a pot which is intended to compensate victims of violent crime.

Now call be a cynic but do we think that every penny of this hand out will be spent on the child who's long term problems seem to amount to sometimes mentioning the incident?

'His attacker' suggests it was done with purpose and intent to cause harm....the kid was three!!!

Not only does it suggest that it was done with intent it also suggests to me that someone was watching this happen. What are two three year olds doing in a car unsupervised for long enough for this to occur anyway? shouldn't a three year old be in a car seat? shouldn't a jack be in the boot?

This is clearly a case of a neglectful parent who is now being given £20,000 "for the child's mental pain" :/

Maybe she could use the money to buy a car with a boot the kids can't get in to.

It is indeed very stupid. Why does everything revolve around money these days? The kids have done something stupid but it's just a three year old kid. I don't understand why the taxpayer needs to fund something like this.

It seems like the only winner in this case is the mother of the injured boy...

FWIW the solicitors mentioned in the article are infamous ambulance chasers around that neck of the woods.

I would be interested to know whereabouts on the Wirral she is from, I suspect from a ****e part if they didn't refer to it by name...
