For future reference PAYG works as well (or it did last I knew, not been to the cinema in ages) if you can get a free SIM from somewhere ;)

A text comes through within a matter of seconds usually with a code. Hand phone with text open to person at the till in the cinema. Enjoy 2 for 1 :D

On contracts it counts as one of your texts out of your monthly allowance, on PAYG it costs 35p a text iirc. I know I only ever need to top it up £10 every few months despite going nearly every week. :)
