I got Jamie Oliver's 20 minute meals app on my phone yesterday so decided today that i'd make something from it after watching some videos and reading some recipes last night.

I have to say it was a fantastic choice because the fried chicken was delicious :D

even my awfully limited student kitchen could pull it off! (without the herbs he always insists on using!)

It consists of basically, pasta with a (tinned) tomato and garlic sauce (add the herbs if you have them).
Then the fried chicken is what you'd expect, covered in flour, dipped in egg, then bread crumbs and finally fried in a pan.

As I say, really nice - would certainly suggest this, even to anyone as lazy as a student ;D

(I had planned to add some hendos relish to the tomato sauce, but alas, i forgot!)

I think just generally a lot of people seem to underestimate how easy basic cooking is, loads of my friends seem to think i'm some god because i put my own meals together all the time and freeze ahead of time etc...

If you want fast stuff from him take a look at his ministry of food. The beef and spring onion dish is really quick takes around 5 minutes to cook and the prep around the same time.

Looks nice :D Love fast meals especially if they're reasonably inexpensive to do.

Shove some grated parmesan cheese in with the bread crumbs for extra tastyness. Use panko bread crumbs for even extra tastyness.

I find that turkey works better than chicken for this, not entirely sure why though. Also I don't bother with flour but I do season the bread crumbs.

Heh, there's a similar recipe to this which I've done for ages :D

Basically, chicken strips, mix an egg and paint on, then roll in Sage & Onion Paxo and fry.

Serve with a dip made of mayo, ketchup, lemon juice and chilli sauce to taste. Nomnomnom

I was going to knock up something similar for lunch today but found my supplies vacant of eggs and paxo *engaged the jingobrain chuggACHUHGGAGAGAGAAAAWOOOOOwoooowWOOOOO!!*

Dipped a chicken strip in a mixture of teriyaki and mango, smothered in breadcrumbs (stale bread, seasoning, spices etc in the blender), back in the mix, back in the breadcrumbs- then in the griddle pan for 3/4 mins each side before being popped in a pitta.

Lunch = done :)

I don't think it missed having the egg, I just had to be more delicate when turning on the pan - worked a treat though and is currently filling my belleh! ;)

Burgers are awesome! They're so often badly cooked and have a bad reputation but if they're made with good ingredients and well cooked they can be a very tasty meal.

Normally I make lamb burgers with plenty of mint. Nom!

Agree I love making home made burgers.

I haven't had breaded chicken for ages. So just got some turkey to have later. Going to do a cajun sauce and gnochi.
