View Full Version : Windows : W7 simple video editing software
So I took some videos at the weekend and want to chop them down a bit (remove the bit with me dancing :p ).
I also have some pole videos when I've practised at home and would maybe in the future like to make montages from several videos.
Is there something that is really (really) idiot proof that people recommend?

Doesn't Windows 7 have Movie Maker (or similar name) built in like XP?
Think it does, or if not, I think Live Essentials does. Those would be my first suggestions as they're by far the easiest. However, they may not support whatever video format your camera records (this is a very common problem).
I usually use VirtualDub and/or VirtualDubMod, but they're probably not the idiot proof you're looking for. :)
Windows Live Movie Maker is available for Windows 7 although you will need to download it.

Indeed, it's free though. Incredibly idiot proof, i needed to chop a video into segments but had never done anything like that before. Within 5 mins i'd figured out how to get WMM to do what i needed.
Windows Live Movie Maker is a free, efficient and easy enough to use for basic editing - even adding basic titles, transitions et al it will do the job fine.
Take a look here : http://download.live.com/moviemaker
Alternatively, if you wish to have greater control then ask around (PM ;)) for a copy of something more 'industry based' i.e. Adobe Premiere etc, although this is not the most straight forward route for what you sound like you're looking for :)
Cheers guys - I'll have a look at the live movie maker and see how I get on :)
