This morning in meeting whilst waiting for a few attendees to arrive, the boss of finance make small talk..
"What you get up to last night, Paul"?
"I was playing Wolfenstein too good know what hour".
"what is Wolfenstein"?
"Oh it's great fun, you get to shoot a load of Nazi's"
#Silence hits the room followed by members of team hitting the floor heads buried#
Of course normally this wouldn't be a problem.. except I work for a German bank and the boss who the conversation with just happens to be Bavarian.
:o
New user title for Huddy: Pete Doherty
(He's been in hot water this week for singing 'Deutschland Uber Alles' - which has major Nazi connotations - in Germany)
Still, what you said was entirely accurate. Possibly not appropriate, but accurate nonetheless.

There was a bit of awkwardness but my boss just pissed his pants when we returned to office. I had to get the tea's in!
Fortunately, one of the guys (also German) say the funny side, which is good really because they are actually quite sensitive about the whole thing.
Hahahaha, you plonker :D
Install it on one of the machines at work and show them :p
I'd love to work with you Huddy! Would be so funny! :D

The thing is, are most people hitting the floor in a pre-emptive kind of way?
I'm just saying, I spent a year with a German lass, and am currently living with an older one and a young lad both from Germany. They're fine with references to Nazis, in fact the lad has no problem with how e.g. Hollywood etc. portrays them.

One of my new work colleagues is a bloody hilarious black lady, and she was on her way out to lunch the other day when she quipped
"I'm bloody starving!"
Without thinking, partly just because I always say it when someone says they are starving, and partly because I know she's able to take a joke in the way it's intended, I replied with
"You aren't starving, the children in Africa are starving!"
To which she replied with
"Yes, them's my brothers and sisters, and i'm starving on their behalf! :o ;D

But they started it!
Long Live Bazil!

that's what I thought - Nazi's and Germans are two totally different kettles of fish. I think many modern day Germans would be more offended if someone insinuated there were a Nazi rather than if they talked about shooting them!
