View Full Version : Holidays 2010 - What are your Plans ??
As title really, what's your travel plans for 2010. Be it UK, Europe or further afield. Picked up a bargain with some flights yesterday for Portugal in the Summer Hols, £280.00 and have some family with an appartment and they are generously charging us £100.00 so for a week away in the sun that ain't too bad. Later in the year we have just over 2 weeks booked for Orlando for Xmas and New Years.
Really can't wait for either.

Going around Europe for 3 and a half weeks at the end of June / start of July;
Belgium > Germany > Czech Republic > Germany > Austria > Slovenia > Italy > Switzerland > France > Belgium
Should be a good one, it's taking up the vast majority of my holiday allowance and most of my savings :p
New York - January for 8 nights
Rhodes - July for 7 nights with family
Poland - August for 4 nights for a wedding, I am the photographer, Daz is an usher :)
Absolutely SQUAT.
I've got some rather expensive professional bits to be sorting out towards the end of the year, and that aside, the financial side of my life is having to become rather stringent anyway. :(
Exciting to see what everyones plans are, and I look forward to the time when I'll be sharing my booked destinations with you all too! :D
Not sure yet. Somewhere for a long weekend before Easter sometime. Either the East Coast of the US or Europe, depends on cost/time off etc.
San Francisco at some point hopefully. Aunty may be moving so have to fit it in around that but either Easter or later in the year - Sep/Oct. And all being well a week somewhere HOT HOT HOT in May/June. May go to this little house in Cyprus we know of :D
Nothing planned really. Well, a trip to Liverpool in June for a wedding but hope to meet up with some lovely friends that I missed the oppertunity to see last year because of my operation.
Other than that I think I'd quite like to visit the Scilly Isles at some point. But I have to save money and then see if anyone else wants to go. That might end up being next year though as I might need to spend money on other things this year.
We are looking at renting a villa in spain. I would love to do Spa f1 as well, but not sure if that will happen..
Anyone know any good sites for renting like 4-6 bedroom villa and any idea what area I should be looking at. We aren't looking at a beach or night life holiday. But we do want to be able to do stuff. Local restaurants, night out, some sight seeing. Will be renting a car, as well as stopping in at the villa with some good wine and bbq.

Seriously, nothing booked and no real plans. Sure we'll get away for a couple of weekends with the kids somewhere and somewhen.

Nothing at the moment.
May be heading back to Normandy for my birthday - this time visiting the beaches I didn't get to before. Also will try to find the family war graves next time.
Either that or off too somewhere cold and wet for a weekend of noise and petrol fumes. So Belgium. :D
I think I need another decent holiday away. Not sure where but I'll have to drag a mate or sister as it's not a good idea for me to go on my own. I want to do the far east / Auz / NZ eventually and work are offering extra holiday this year. It's all funds permitting though :)

You owe me a Christmas in Middle Earth :p
I'm off to New Zealand in August, for 12 months.

No Japan trip this year then? :(
We're thinking of going to Malaysia and Singapore at some point, probably a sun holiday too and a weekend break with the girls... but who knows!

Feb and October for a weekend away for a LAN
Oh and a little festival called Sonisphere @ Knebworth :)
That'll do me :)
Fingers crossed for a skiing holiday in Feb at the last minute, but other than that nothing planned. Maybe I'll just tag along on all of your holidays instead. :D

There'll be plenty of cheese in Switzerland :p
We haven't been on holiday for 2 years, so decided we would go this year - however I have just bought Silverstone Grand Prix tickets, so now the holiday has gone out the window :D
Me and Daz havent had a holiday for 4 years, so we are being spoilt this year :)

Yeah. So you'd all better be getting your arses up to Edinburgh for my leaving party!
Off to DR in 4 weeks to this place
http://www.excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts/caribbean/punta-cana-dominican-republic/punta-cana-overview.htm
been before and, as much as I don't normally like All Inclusive resorts, this place is great
In May I am off to my sisters wedding here
http://www.hotelsayianapa.com/article.php?hotel=5&id=294&hotel_id=1
well at least I think that is the place
nothing much else planned as we have just had 2 US trips in last 4 months
prob something in Autumn but won't be much as we intend going to Thailand early 2011
We managed a week in Blackpool at the end of the season last year, dunno what we'll manage this year, that was quite exotic for us.

Never understood Blackpool, always had a great time there but not sure why :D
Nothing planned yet but I'm sure that'll change.
Not sure yet. It'll be in June though as Leon's had to book the time off due to his work's crap holiday system. It'll probably be camping in France as he's not managed to book the last day of his 2nd week because someone already had it, so we can't do a 2 week hol.
Going to France on a school trip - rock and roll life! Other than that, at the moment I have no idea :/ Anyone got a spare place? :)
After loving every second of Rome last year, I don't want to wait another 5years before we take another holiday although with Paul and Amy now in Canada we will probably have to postpone any europe holidays I was thinking about in order to save up and see them.
Hoping to have a weekend in London at some point which should be excellent. Not been in years, unless you count sitting in train stations :p
That's probably about it I think!

For the first time in a couple of years I'm hoping to go abroad, hopefully to Finland in March sort of time to see a couple of mates and maybe Canadia sometime later in the year to catch up with another couple of mates. Both those trips depend on funds and getting myself organised. Aside from that I'm hoping to spend a bit of time visiting various mates around the UK, I'm finding it less of a problem in terms of where to go than to make sure I've got the time.
Just got back from an awesome week's worth of skiing in Austria.
Going skiing again in Feb.
Have a week off in April where I'll just do whatever, might go away might not - haven't decided yet.
Try and get off to NY some time this year if poss, but not getting a bonus/pay rise might make it a bit more tough.
Will probably do my annual pilgrimage to Cyprus in the Summer, but maybe a bit earlier when it's a bit hotter this year.
Probably a few trips to France to see family/friends.
So a relatively un-exciting year in terms of travel really.

Hoping Madrid in April for a weekend & St Michaels Mount at some point before that.
All things go to plan then Tsilivi in Zante for a week in summertime.
Depending on numbers, a stag do somewhere looks likely for my mate from training. Possibly Barcelona or Prague.

I'm hoping to go somewhere nice outdoors for a week or two. Thinking somewhere like Peru would be nice... but I do prefer snowy places...
Depending on money I might as well just go up to Scotland for a week or two :D

Mucho cheapo holidays for me though - as I'm a poor little rich boy :(

Nothing planned yet, would like to go away at least once even if it is just going over to Ireland to see some of Paul's family.
I'm planning on starting my travelling at the mid/end of this year! Don't have a necessary order buuut So far on the list:
Thailand, China, Japan, Africa, Jordan, Egypt, India... tempted by a Canada visit... and there's more but I've forgotten them. Will have to pull out my list of things to do :)
After doing above wanting to do a tour of Europe for a few months :)
Who's coming?! :D
I haven't been anywhere in the last 10 years, haven't had a valid passport (or even find the expired one) for the last 5 years and have 15 days worth of holiday (not counting flexi) to take before the end of the financial year.

Im hoping to go out to my sisters place in Cape Verde and possibly get some kite surfing in.....only have to pay for flights on that one.
Want to go diving in Egypt.... both the above dependant on me selling my drag car and all my associated bits
Then.....if it all goes horribly wrong with the T-Mobile / Orange merger and I loose my job, I want to go driving around America for a month or so :)
Ideally need to find a hot, single, female travelling partner though ;)

Just landed a family 2 week "All inclusive" holiday for 5 in Turkey for £1,800 Happy days. We are going as soon as Leanne has her last exam and prom
The hotel is part of a small chain we've been to in Kos. The same two weeks in August comes to £4,800
:D
Wait... why hasn't anyone said Nairn yet??!!!
TripAdvisor TravelCast Top Five World Destinations for 2010
1. Troncones, Mexico
Boasting miles of white sand beaches, Troncones is a peaceful and secluded haven nestled between the jungle foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur Mountains and the warm tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean.
2. Nairn, Scotland
Located on the Moray Forth coast, this small seaside town enjoys one of the sunniest climates in Scotland, and is a perfect base from which to explore the Highlands.
3. El Chalten, Patagonia
Your cell phone won't work here and the town's limited capacity means you've got to book in advance -- but you'll be richly rewarded with incredible hiking in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
4. Patara, Turkey
With a 12-mile long beach (also a national park) and an abundance of Lycian and Roman ruins peeking out of the sand dunes, Patara is steeped in both natural beauty and history.
5. Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany
This picturesque Bavarian town is celebrated not only for its well-preserved medieval buildings and walls, but also for its unspoiled setting.
2. Nairn, Scotland
Located on the Moray Forth coast, this small seaside town enjoys one of the sunniest climates in Scotland, and is a perfect base from which to explore the Highlands.
Does that mean you get two days of sunshine a year as opposed to the national average of one day? ;)
I have nothing planned. The best I can hope for is a few fun weekends away here and there. I STILL haven't had my payout for the car crash in 2007 but it should be sorted after March, I hope to take the girls to Center Parcs again or perhaps Eurocamp in the south of France.
I'd much rather have a couple of weekends away than a longer holiday.
Oi you!!!!! I just noticed a spelling error too Moray Forth? err Firth!

Depending on what you are looking for from the holiday I felt our short trip up there was excellent. Flew to Inverness, drove down Loch Ness all the way to Fort William/ Onich and then a sideways excursion to Mallaig (possibly the most beautiful drive I have ever done). After that we drove to Edinbrugh and drop the car off before flying home. Enroute you can do a boat trip on Loch Ness, go spotting red squirrels, theres a lovely fish restaraunt near Onich at Ballachulish, there is an otter sanctury near Oban and then the drive through the hills is lovely too :)

From the pictures Ive seen it is utterly stunning, though her apartment is in a 'still developing' area
Only fly in the ointment is that the person who has my drag car appears to have done a runner :'( so my plans are a bit stuffed whilst I sort it....
Plans for this year have been slightly scuppered, didn't quite realise how annual leave works here. Won't have enough holiday saved up by April to come to the UK without taking a bit of a hit to the ol' coffers.
We still want to do a wedding celebration of some description with UK friends but not sure how/when it will be. One idea Kari bounced around was coming to the UK for Christmas, but that wouldn't make wedding celebration all that practical.
March 6th to 20th - Oz, 21st to 27th - NZ, May 22nd to 29th Seattle/San Juan, 31st to June 5th - DC.
Probably do a few walking weekends too, Peaks next weekend possibly.
No, don't normally go that overboard though, and US trip is a relatives thing.

Nothing planned for this year so far. I'm planning on moving this year so will be keeping quiet until that happens - may need some cash for furniture if I get an unfurnished place. Might manage a cheap weekend or two possibly.
After I've moved, cash allowing, I may take a short trip later in the year. Big bro was on about a hiking holiday so may do that in the autumn. Would like to go to Islay at some point as well and visit all the distilleries :D

We are just looking at another trip to South Africa. This time to do the south, along the garden route and the winelands.

Not too sure about out trip to Dominican in just iver 2 weeks, doesn't seem right having everything you want in a posh hotel when 100 miles away folks are going through hell
First time you have been to Dominican ? Undoubtedly the situation in Haiti is terrible due to the quake, but in a lot of complexes you only have to walk outside your complex for five minutes for it to be 3rd world. On the plus side, it is a beautiful beautiful place
This is 4th time and yes many areas are very poor thoughh different areas seemed very vaied, some of the stuff on the North coast was really bad
this is a different magnitude obviously
Florida. In six weeks. Possibly. I've always told myself I wanted to take one more shot at seeing a Space Shuttle launch, two days ago I decided to try and take that shot.
Looking at the schedule:
Feb 7 4.39am launch - Should be spectacular but too early in the year for me and could be difficult to get to. The job situation would have scuppered that anyway.
March 18 1.34pm - Early afternoon launch. Just about ideal - easy to get to (assuming I can get a ticket - big lottery on that one). Most likely risk: unexpected hail storm (as happened last year). Reasonably good chance it'll go first time, which is what I'd need to happen.
May 14 2.28pm - Pretty much the same as the March launch - less risk of hail storm, more of thunderstorm as it's getting closer to summer.
July 29 7.51am - Early launch so difficult to get to. High summer and school holidays so going to be too hot and too busy for me.
Sept 16 11.57am - At risk of weather delays making things difficult.
So it's March or May then. Given that I have 16 days holiday 'use 'em or lose 'em' by the end of April, March wins. I'd put the chance of success at no better than 1-in-5, but three weeks in Florida is a pretty damn good second prize.
The fact that I won't be racking up the debt to pay for it (for the first time ever) will certainly help make things less stressful too.
Edit - it's booked and paid for. Same hotel as last time, same room type too. Cost a bit more though (exchange rate and work paying for the flights last time helped a lot).

Well, the T1 has booked the Spanish F1 GP in May, so that is a long week for me. Then the next trip is Bay of Naples, which includes, day trips to Sorrento, Vesuvius, Montecassino, Florence, Rome.
I am really looking forward to this holiday. Though I have been to Florence & Rome before, I am going to visit the sites i did not get to see last time I was there !
Just grabbed a launch viewing ticket for STS-131. \o/
That's one worry out of the way then! (they sell out rather quickly, but Gray Line opened up their ticket sales early and NASA hasn't put the link to that page live yet). Now it just has to launch on time (that was always going to be the biggest problem).
Rhodes is officially booked. Bring it on.
when's that DeeDee? And whereabouts?
First week in July. Can't remember the name of the place :D Will have to find out :)

The way holiday stuff works in the US, we're not going to be able to take one this year. My annual leave doesn't start accruing until I've been here 6 months, and then it's accruing at a rate of 6.something hours a month.
Plans to come to the UK this year have gone right out the window as a result. Oh well at least the workplace is so much nicer.
Kari and I are talking about maybe a few weekends away on other islands or a long weekend up in Seattle seeing friends we have there instead.
The American holiday/work ethic is so disproportionate! Not cool! Sucks :(
The American holiday/work ethic is so disproportionate! Not cool! Sucks :(
Worse still is I only get 10 days (plus maybe 12-15 days of state and federal holidays)
Why did I move here again?
Can't remember what ours is (for US staff), but it's a similar idea (possibly more hours/month though). Still, no offence intended but I don't think I'd complain too much given the surroundings. :)
We have just booked our ferries to France & back in June. Something to look forward to :)
And the fact that that's not actually that bad (22-25 days).. considering a lot of people in the UK only get 20 days holiday and that includes the 8 bank holidays a year
For a full time worker, 20 days including bank holidays is contrary to UK employment law I think:
you are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (28 days for someone working five days a week)
bank and public holidays can be included in your minimum entitlement
I read that to mean that the 28 days minimum that a full time employee is entitled to can include the 8 days bank holidays giving a remainder of 20 days.
Source (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/Timeoffandholidays/DG_10029788).
I'm off with a girlfriend to Dawwwwseht in March for a riding break. I've not had my leg over (!!!) a horse for 2 years, there's going to be paaaaaaaaaaaain!
Well Spain is booked up staying in Catral, near Alicante. Can't bloody wait.
Don't suppose anyone knows if there is any vineyards that do tours anywhere in the region?
Just heard that STS-131 launch is likely to be delayed into April. Gutted doesn't even come close to summing things up. The problem - the snow that affected Washington DC. There's no snow in Florida - it's just too cold. Don't want another Challenger though so I understand. :(
Holiday is paid for and non-cancellable obviously. I left it as late as I could so there's nothing I can do. I don't think I can afford another trip to Florida before September, so I'm done. :(
PS - on the bright side, I will of course still enjoy the holiday - and still go to Kennedy. Likely to be my last trip to Florida so I'll certainly make the most of it - shuttle or not. :)
That's not confirmed though is it Mark? I saw that it was looking like being pushed first to the 22 March and then into April if no go. It's not happened yet, so there's nowt you can do about it - at least you'll be getting away :)

I know everything about Pefkos :)
what accomodation you using ?
Pefkos is very quiet but very nice, most bars are family / food type places though there aren't that many bars anyway
all this is irrelevant because of 2 things, Lindos is a 5 Euro taxi ride and is full of fantastic bars
and then there is Eclipse in Pefkos, this is one of the best bars I have been to anywhere
It has a standard bar/disco upstairs but then head out the back and they have a open pool area with great sunbeds and sofas ( all this is open all night ) behind the pool is a man made acapulco stye cliffs that folks dive off at night ( they have lifeguards )
only downside is the bar is often getting closed by the authorities for misdemenours
most of vids on youtube of eclipse are just piss heads or daytime stuff
this one is poor quality but does show the place

It was a credible rumour based on memos flying around inside NASA, and its now been confirmed. :(
Still, you are correct. Just getting away from this cold is cause for celebration. :)
PS - May give the airline a call and see if they'll change the return flights without charging me a fortune. Doubt it, but maybe worth a shot given it's the easter weekend. Ironically I changed the flights from 4th to 1st for other reasons - landing at the same time the shuttle went up really would have been gutting.

Ooooh, like the sound of that! Also think we are staying at the Pefki Islands Resort :)
That accomodation is fine, Pefkos is a quiet place with a great relaxed atmosphere, the beach is wide long but narrow but I never really used it
Location is never a problem in Pefkos as it is a small place ( there are a couple of hills )
Last time I checked, it was rated number 1 on Trip Advisor! Thats good enough for us :D
sounds good then :)
I assume hotel in NY was good ?
Oh we loved it! Fab view of the street, loads of space! We had a sofa that was barely used cos our cases were thrown on there on day one and never got shifted :D
I have never, NEVER slept in such a comfortable bed. Was more sorry about leaving that behind! We even had a card and a birthday cake waiting for us when we checked in! The staff there couldnt do enough for you, we soon became mates with Donald the doorman, he was such a nice guy :)
We went to the Social bar, that was brill, and the food was lush! We had breakfast in the Olympic Diner most days :)
Only went to Olympic diner once, prob cos I was ****ed off after I left a tip and then realised they already sneaked a service charge in without telling you :p
The doorman ? was that the black guy ? if so then yes he was great :)
All the doormen were black :D But you couldnt really miss him, he was the friendly one :D
We came back from TotR, and I told him the proposal story, everyone soon gathered round congratulating us, he was dead chuffed :D
Look like Vegas in September \o/
Have Cyprus in May for sister's wedding too
Looks like we might have an almost freebie week in Turkey in May! Hurrah! Was beginning to think this year would be a wipeout with tooth costs etc.

We are off to Dorset for a very long weekend in april, then up to Centreparcs, Elvedon in May.
Then I am going to Le Mans on the bike with some friends for the Classic in July
Probably another family holday around august time and something short notice in oct/nov
I love holidays!
Ooooh, like the sound of that! Also think we are staying at the Pefki Islands Resort :)
Spoke to my Mum who goes to Pefkos regalarly, she says Pefki Islands is prob best hotel in Pefkos :)
Kinda... erm booked a trip to San Fran for my friend's wedding. :D
5th - 10th April... i.e. SOON!
Actually a bit scared that I'm going on my own... first time I have travelled so far for so long on my todd!
Scary times!

When I worked for Thomson we had no trouble at all selling the Pefki Island Resort, it sold itself. Really nice place.
Rhodes is great (been there 4 times) make sure you hire a car or at the very least get up to Rhodes town.

don't be, I went on my own in 2002 & had to go via Frankfurt - almost missed my plane due to late take off at Manchester. 15 hour flight from Ff! It's actually quite exciting & very liberating! Was v. Proud of myself when I arrived in one piece :D
Dont stress Mei Mei, Ive travelled alone a few times, its quite nice :D

I flew back (actually from San Francisco funnily enough) on my own about 10 years back when I went with Marchant and his Mum (they were staying on for another week, and I came home)
Tis fine, I ended up chatting to some random for a bit and then slept, the cabin crew kept asking me if I was alright whenever they noticed I was awake.
Have a fab time. Go see the sights, its an amazing place to visit. :)

Glad you decided to go, it'll be a great time no doubt.
I don't worry about travelling on my own and don't think you need to either, you're more organised than me and I've managed to go on a few trips by myself without messing it up.
//edit and I don't think I updated since I booked it but I'm off to Finland for a few days in April.
Travelling on your own can be more enjoyable than travelling with others, no matter how well you get on with them.
Mei will be fine in San Francisco, as long as she can remember which way to turn out of the hotel to get to Union Square ;)

Rhodes is great (been there 4 times) make sure you hire a car or at the very least get up to Rhodes town.
I've been to Rhodes a few times now, it's really nice. The south of the Island (usually stay in Pefkos) is beautiful. The seven springs is cool, as is the butterfly valley (at the right time it is alive with butterflies, millions of them).
Lindos is impressive, and Asklipio (sp?) is quite interesting. Climb right up to the castle and you can see for miles. There are a few other ruined castles on the island, most on cliff faces or steep hills and they're worth a visit if only for the amazing views. Kamiros is also worth a visit, even if you are not into history and/or archeology.
It is, as Leon says, a must to hire a car and get around a bit. Oh, and if you find yourself short of a sponge or two, you can get a day trip out to Symi as well...

Going to South Africa again this year. Going to do the Cape Town/Garden Route area this time. Staying around Stellenbosch for a few nights, then driving out towards Knysna and Port Elizabeth before flying back to the UK. About 2 weeks in total. Hopefully it will be as good as the last couple of times we've been.
I love South Africa. Knysna is one of the prettiest places I've ever been - Storm River Mouth in particular.
If you've got the time maybe look at going to Addo (http://www.addoelephant.com/parks/addo/) which has expanded a lot since I was last there, I think it now goes down as far as the coast. It was peanuts to stay there, something daft like £5/night for accommodation.

Symi is lovely :) If you go to Rhodes Town make sure you spend quality time walking around the old town. It's lovely! I also liked driving around the south of the island so interesting and beautiful :) the resorts really don't give a
true picture of how nice Rhodes is

Glad to hear I'm in esteemed company! I did that a few times too when I was there. :o
Anyway, I'm with all the others. You'll do fine - at least everything will be in the right language (ish) and you've been there before. Take care obviously but don't fret about it and most of all, have fun! :)

Yeah, we're aiming to spend at least a day in Addo. We're also going to Kariega (Ukhozi lodge) for a few nights. We stayed at Phina last time we were there (travelled around KwaZulu Natal). That was amazing. I really liked KZN, we stayed for a couple fo days in the Drakensberg mountains, then went to Isandlwana (Rorkes Drift), then Phinda and then stayed outside Durban. It was fantastic.

Can anyone advise me on a fairly cheap holiday... all inclusive or cheap to eat out ... with not too long a flight and decent flight times.
I was looking at Bulgaria.. but flights are at stupid o'clock not good when you have a little one in tow... Then looked at Rhodes as there have been lots of good comments in here, but didn't realise that it was a 4 hour flight.. again not great with a little one to entertain! Is Rhodes a fairly cheap place for eating out??
Menorca? That's a nice place to visit. A bit like Rhodes, but Spanish.

For AI try the places that were designed to be AI, a lot in the traditional resorts ( Spain, Greece, Turkey ) are hotels that failed as normal hotels
For cheapish decent AI have a look at Egypt

Rob and I went to Playa De Rocha and stayed in Castelos da Rocha appartments. Lovely place, v family friendly (apart from the huge main road you have to cross to get to the beach).
We got a cancellation and paid £500 for the both of us for a week.

Hey all - just want to say - don't worry, I'll take good care of Mei when she gets to SF tomorrow!
hehehe no really... she's done the whole "tourist" thing so I'm going to show her where the locals hang out, take her to a club for some drum n bass, then take her to my home in wine country and show her around here, and then over the mountains to the east to drop her off in Napa in time for the wedding. Erm... sorry we didn't make the DnB  still feel a bit bad that we didn't make it and THANK YOU!!! for looking after me!!! Had a really nice chilled time :) your place is beautiful!!! Gorgeous! Will sort piccies when back.

You're welcome Mei! I had so much fun with you here. I'm glad the weather was as beautiful as it was too so I got to drive you through some really beautiful territory. The only thing though is that I guess I did too much driving and my car overheated when I got back into the city Thurs night and now it's in the shop :(
Well spain was awesome apart from teh 36hours of rain. Nice the rest of the time though with temperatures in the high 20's.
Can't believe how cheap it was though. Decent bottles of wine where no more than 4euros.
6 stubbies of things like san miguel where under 2euros. Meat and fish where very cheap as well.
3 course meals in decent restaurants and a bottle of wine between two, always came in at around 25-30euros.
Now looking at next year, how do you find flight quotes when you fly in and depart from different airports? Wanting to fly in to new york and fly out of miami. Returns from new york can be had for £300 but if I try a single it's like £650 each way.
Also anyone rented luxury cars in USA, like new dodge challenger, mustang or other such cars. seems hard to find anything other than 300c or new dodge charger at the higher end of the saloon market and I haven't seen any american sports cars.

yes, yes it is. Little excited by any chance.
My folks are coming here in late September \o/

Nothing booked as such, I'm hoping to get back to Studland for a few days of R&R at the end of July and then perhaps Center Parcs again in November. NExt year however, it's going to be biblical!

We did indeed, it came from Budget (I think) at SFO. It was awful! Slow, handled badly and so on, but it was red, the roof came down and we were in California so it was the perfect car to have.

booked here for Jan 2011

probably obvious but be careful, the muggings etc are really getting out of hand over the last couple of years, I know 3 folks attacked so far this year
Speaking of California, who's coming to visit me next? The sun is shining and it's beautiful!
Believe it or not, it is here too and has been for the last few weeks! Glorious! Hopefully getting out there next year, and the East Coast in December all being well :)
If I win the lottery, you're on! :)
Would love to make a return visit to San Fran. Actually, it's one of the places I'd love to live - the others being Toronto or Sydney. I've been concentrating on the East coast to try to catch a Space Shuttle launch. Done that now so if I return to the US on holiday, it'll be West out of choice. :)
There is usually a spare bed or two on Oahu if folks ever are thinking about somewhere exotic ;)

Yeah, but we're not actually staying in Cape Town, only Stellenbosch, so it's another maybe 45 minutes or so to get there, so we need a good morning, and the weather to hold out until we have got there, got parked up and got up the mountain, lol.

Enjoy Dubai, not sure what it's like for a lady visiting, I had an ok time, didn't think it was particularly brilliant, but I was there on business, I can imagine being there on holiday would be much more fun! If you do go, go skiing in the Dubai Snow Park - it was surreal.
the Desert Jeep trip is great, I would imagine you would enjoy th shopping too
we just had 4 days there, basically shopping, beach, water park, jeep thing
the evening boat meal trip on the creek was pretty rubbish
Doubtful that skiing will happen! lol Shopping definitely though. Will look into the Desert trip :D
We are going for four days as well, staying at the Hilton - so will chiefly be a tanning holiday if things are too expensive!

Had an e-mail from big bro this morning confirming a little trip when I get back home. I get back on the 16th and it's my birthday on the 20th. Big bro was planning on coming down to Newcastle on the 19th for a few days for my birthday but it sort of escalated into a week away.
We both enjoy walking so we're off for a week in the Yorkshire Dales, staying at the Tan Hill Inn (http://www.tanhillinn.co.uk/) - the highest inn in Britain. We have a room booked for the first 3 days but they have no rooms available for Friday and Saturday so we'll be camping at the weekend and then back into the room for Sunday and Monday.
Going to be great spending my birthday with my big bro and doing lots of walking in the Dales.
After that, I'm off up to Dunbar to visit my little bro and his family who are having a couple of weeks in his father in law's caravan when they get back from Spain. I'll be there for 2-3 days - probably in the tent again.
Looking forward to seeing both my brothers and my sister in law and my nephew and nieces. Good times.
We managed a week in Blackpool at the end of the season last year, dunno what we'll manage this year, that was quite exotic for us.
No, we're not going to be even that exotic this year. No holiday for the Feek household.

Very true, but even if we hadn't, we still wouldn't be getting a holiday. No funds were diverted from the Feek household to buy goodies, in each instance older things were sold to pay for newer things and if the newer things hadn't come out, the older things wouldn't have been sold.

A look around Reykjavik, a trip to a fault line and a dip in the "blue lagoon"... that was about it...
