Done some reading around on Ubuntu forums but can't find any definitive answer. Installed 9.10 last night and it doesn't recognise the wireless card at all. I've installed the backports and still no joy.
Any other ideas before I dump it and go back to 8.04?
Whats the wireless card? Presumably not an Intel, so Broadcom?
Have you tried ndiswrapper with the windows drivers?
Sorry, missed out the obvious there :p
It's an Intel 3945. Not tried ndiswrapper yet but will look into it.
I use that card on my laptop and netbook and it's fine :/ No backports.
Is the module loaded (lsmod |grep iwl3945)? You running x64?
Can't check until I get home. Yep with the x64.
If what Daz has suggested turns up nothing, can you post the output of lspci -v as that will help too!
Is the module loaded (lsmod |grep iwl3945)?
iwl3945 83360 0
iwlcore 134820 1 iwl3945
mac80211 243360 2 iwl3945,iwlcore
led_class 5256 3 iwl3945,iwlcore,sdhci
cfg80211 152424 3 iwl3945,iwlcore,mac80211
can you post the output of lspci -v

That's a yes, hHmm, I wonder if there's a software killswitch. Can we get dmesg |grep iwl3945 Des? :)
[edit] is there anything in /etc/network/interfaces ?
You're not going to believe this....but it's working....after I hit the key to turn on the wireless :/
Thing is, I already checked and it was on in the BIOS so not sure why the OS didn't pick it up but hitting the key has activated it all OK :D
Software killswitch :) My mum and brothers missus do that all the time, and it's always the same thing ;D
It was bound to be something simple :p
